Kinematics: Huge IGR has nothing to do with what you're preoccupied with, economic policies, direction and programs instituted by the governing bodies are responsible for IGR. All the things you people are lamenting over were there before 1999 when Lagos State was generating measly N500 Million until a leader known as Tinubu came and make leadership changes and creative methods to get the IGR to where it is today. They have huge oil wealth in the SS, but nothing to show for the oil wealth, it's even the most indebted states in Nigeria. Stop fooling yourself abeg, it's all about leadership, something they have a lot of in Lagos State. 3 Likes 1 Share |

DOTian: Shame on you! You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong! Where were you when Lagos state IGR was N9B per annum. Oh you think the IGR just miraculously appeared? They worked! When we talk about increasing IGR, your lot make unintelligent excuses for your governors and claim that the figures were manufactured. El-Rufai has raised his state IGR by about 300% in the last 6years, you will now say FG shouldn't give him allocations? compare Ekiti and Osun and see the massive difference. Yet few years ago Osun was trailing Ekiti in IGR. Also think about Ogun. The governors worked and if anything, should be rewarded more for their work. 'Non-viable' states should be deprived of freebies while their citizens keep making excuses for the governors. Lagos state residents are holding their government accountable (and should still do more). You hold your governors accountable to revenue and good governance. |

Buccalcavity2: One more thing about Kaduna and why their IGR is shooting to the top. The FG proposed RUGA as a form of economic boom and investment to generate IGR and create jobs, but many states rejected it because they ignorantly branded it Fulani herdsmen resettlement scheme. RUGA is basically the FG offering states Billions to develop their own animal husbandry schemes, build ranches and meant processing facilities, create jobs and make money for their people, but the needed jobs. The ignorant tribalism in the South threw away free investment money, IGR and jobs, but Kaduna gladly welcomed RUGA and quickly brought in $100 Million Foreign Investment, now they are dominating the dairy business in Nigeria. Some leaders are smart and some are just dumb and clueless.

plaindealer: Kenya has a standard gauge railway from Nairobi to Mombasa. Are more or less than 50% of Lagos buildings with pipe borne water like Nairobi? Is the per capita budget of Lagos more or less than that of Nairobi? How does someone who is not sick make excuses for people stealing his commonwealth instead of citing examples of good governance to make them stop? Is it Stockholm syndrome? |

plaindealer: We are talking of making people accountable you are here defending corruption. Even your picture shows 50% of Nairobians enjoy pipe-borne water. The only area you'll see such in Lagos is Ikoyi, VI, Ikeja and some parts of Yaba Even the pipes in Surulere are all gone. I'm speaking of African cities you're say Kenya. I choose Nairobi because it IGR is very low compared to Lagos and you're still shamelessly defending this corrupt system. The IGR of Lagos alone is higher than that of Kenya, talk more of Nairobi! Metro line / Metro gauge are all semantic. Is there a rail line in Lagos ( made by with State or Federal) that can get you from one part of it to another? While the whole of Kenya is eyeing $45m in revenue lagos is already making #418b. Convert that to dollars at even #500 and see the gap between Lagos and the whole of Kenya. My conclusion is, it's people that think like you do that make our politicians act the way they do. Most of us aren't holding them to a higher standard . 2 Likes 1 Share

DOTian: Sentiments aside, i see no reason why SS region shouldnt be as developed as lagos based on their existing allocations. It is sad how all the money and interventions received as yielded very little return from that region. If you allow them manage all, they will still mismanage it. |

[s] Minjim:[/s] More rubbish and fake facts. Nigeria's population is more than 4 times larger than Kenya's population. Lagos state's population is more than 4 times larger than Nairobi In Nairobi, they don't have water to drink, they drink dirty water from dirt and rotten sources, Lagosians don't drink rubbish water. Kenya as a country built their railway and the last time I checked, we have better and longer rail miles than Kenya many times over, our Lagos Ibadan railway with beautiful stations is better than whatever they have in Kenya. Lagos is building a metro rail, not a Kenyan government railway like you are talking about in Kenya. Low self-esteem and inferiority complex is the reason why people like you always praise countries and places that are below your own country, it's really sad and pathetic. 1 Like |

plaindealer: After you yourself posted here that 50% of Nairobians have water? And you have the effrontery to call someone else rubbish and fake facts with low self esteem and inferiority complex? It will be very sad and pathetic if you don’t get help soon. Thank me later. |

seguno2: Several towns across Kenya, including the capital Nairobi, are facing an acute water shortage following a prolonged dry spell in the East African nation. The fact that you have access to a water tap inside your house today doesn't mean the water won't dry up tomorrow, so they must venture into dirty places to look for water, Fundamentally, Kenya doesn't have enough water to even grow food to start with, in Nairobi sef, they ration water. You ungrateful people are lucky that you are not in Nairobi where water is rationed or your ground dried up with no water coming out of it. You low self-esteem people picked the wrong place to praise...and you, try apply a little common sense when you read and comprehend. 2 Likes |

Minjim: We say name the projects and you're typing nebulous crap. Does the fact that Lagos was misruled in the past means it is not now carrying out outstanding and superlative projects others in Africa cannot match? Bro, I can't stand self-haters always fixated on negatives or the bleak past to the point they cannot appreciate the present. |

seguno2: WE know the budget of Lagos and it's revenue, show us with evidence the revenue of Nairobi municipal govt and it's responsibilities vis avis the national government projects that use tye city as capital. Note Lagos finance 75% of it's income from internal sources. Don't know why yiou're afraid to back up your assertion Nairobi gets less per capita revenue than Lagos |
Re: Lagos Leads As States’ Mid-Year IGR Hits ₦849.12 Billion by Ovamboland(m): 3:47pm On Nov 10, 2021 |
Minjim: Most of your assertions are false, Kenya National budget is about as much as that of Nigeria at $25-30bn while Lagos budget which includes IGR, Federal allocations and loans is less than $2.5bn. Except you have difficulty with figures how can a whole 55m people run with $45m a whole year and make any progress? And think they can do a $5bn SGR project from that and service that loan from $45m revenue? Prove say you go school small now. They were talking of eyeing or earning $45m from a single project, and you turn it to their total revenue for the year |

plaindealer: They even have to lie on behalf of foreign countries without any solicitation or mobilization just to make their country look bad and push people into despondency while dreaming of false utopia. Whenever a milestone projet is completed, you see North Africansor othr West Africans hailing the achievement and wishing same for their country, but you see Nigerians who are seeing such for the first time saying the project is fake, it's second hand, it's Chinese, it's not durable, it's loans, it's not food and many inanities. Sure those guys will wonder the sort fo people we call citizens |

Your ignorance, laced with tribalism is once again exhibited to the whole world. The Federal Government does NOT give allocations to the States. Federal, States and LGAs get their allocations from the FEDERATION account according to an agreed sharing formula. |
