Price of wheat will skyrocket soon just because of this stupid announcement. Fulani herders will not allow farmers to harvest the wheat, then it'll go the way of rice...just looking for ways to punish people! Since he banned rice importation, we've not been able to locally produce a quarter of the rice we need, yet he's too stubborn to realise his mistake and either find a way to increase production or allow importation! What he should do is promote and increase locally produced grains so consumers themselves will boycott foreign grains. His economic advisers especially in the area of food and other consumables are as dumb as he is |

Giving more priority for local production is not a bad idea for economic growth and development, but does government have any substantive policy on ground to facilitate this economic plan. Am very sure is a capital NO. Am suspecting this government. |

Everyone should be alarmed, the consequences this will have for food manufacturers and distributors is massive. Buhari is a monster who bans without thinking about the long term effects and he needs to be stopped. |

Namnam:See what you don't understand is Nigeria can't produce wheat to meet up with the production. It is literally impossible because only few areas in Nigeria have favourable climate for producing wheat. If we could grow our own wheat we wouldn't need to import in the first place, have you heard of Nigeria importing yams before? Think! |

You can ban importation but the first thing a sane government would do is to take charge of storage of production so that we would know what we have at hand and have a record of quantity demand, then the government itself would give room to certain amount so to compensate what we already have... |

Promise promises and promising........ believe this to your own risk...... when farmers can't access their farms due to the fear of being killed... and nothing have been done about it |

Namnam:And you end up buying the product X3 the price.... So what's good the news? Have you asked yourself why Nigerian rice or it's products are more expensive than imported ones? |
| Re: Buhari Says Nigeria To End Wheat Importation Soon by chaseblack(m): 8:21am On Nov 10, 2021 |
Maybe increase in price will reduce the way Nigerians consume wheat . Medically it is advised to consume wheat/derivatives in moderation because of it's gluten content. Average Nigerians : 'Thank God I don't eat wheat too much' Their food plan: Morning - Bread Afternoon-- indomie/spaghetti Snack --- cake /chinchin / biscuit Night -- Wheat Stay away from wheat (gluten rich food) if you like yourself! |

Wheat is cultivated in temperate zones, Nigeria is in the tropics. The places where wheat can possibly be grown in Nigeria are Taraba and Plateau. However, Fulani Islamic terrorists disguising as herdsmen (a Nairalander by moniker LegalWolf knows a thing or two about them) are slaughtering farmers who are predominantly Christians in those states. Thus, Nigeria cannot have wheat cultivated in the country. Can a seemingly intelligent APC supporter or Buharist explain the rationale behind banning the importation of wheat into Nigeria? |

JavaScript90:And once wheat price goes up, other grains will also go up, cos their demand will become higher. This will in turn affect every grain-dependent product. Baking flour, pasta, noodles, livestock feed, etc |

Is only around Mambila plateau area that Wheat can grow well. Nigeria cannot produce even up to 5 percent of wheat that is consumed in Nigeria. |
