When you are using gas cookers, the chemistry of the process goes thus: Propane + Oxygen = Carbon dioxide + water vapour + flame. Carbon dioxide and water vapour are colorless, odorless, and harmless to humans. However, when you use charcoal stove, the chemistry of the process takes this form: Carbon + Oxygen = Carbon monoxide + Carbon dioxide + Flame. Both carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide are colorless. Carbon dioxide is harmless but Carbon monoxide is highly poisonous (an asphixiant) Charcoal stove does not smoke, it is cheap to operate, and cooks fast, but must be used outdoors or where ventilation system is available.
