IN PICTURES: Shoprite Stores Installing Solar Panels As SA's Hit By Power Crisis by TMKsouth(op):
The Shoprite Group - which includes the Checkers supermarket brand - aims to power 25% of its operations with renewable energy over the next five years and has added 22 new solar PV (photovoltaic) sites between February and September 2021, more than doubling its solar capacity.

This is in line with a strategy to mitigate climate change and be less reliant on the South African national grid as the country battles an ongoing power crisis.

Sustainability manager, Sanjeev Raghubir, said the group is intent on reducing its indirect greenhouse gas emissions by using more renewable energy, and continuously improving energy efficiency to manage its electricity costs which approaches 2.5 billion rands (67.5 billion naira) a year.

The new solar PV installations represent 29,280MWh per year. This output could power 2,674 households annually, thus easing the pressure on the national grid.

Shoprite said that it now has 41 solar PV installations at two distribution centres, 38 supermarkets in South Africa and Namibia, as well as a parking lot at its home office.

In the coming year 2022 budget in Nigeria, FG led by Muhammadu Buhari budgeted N104bn for maintenance and buying of generators.

And i ask,

Isn't it obvious that a president does not even believe in his country's power generating company(ies) ?

If there is anything I don't líke about the poster, is the fact that he argues a lot especially on a thread that says a difference between Nigeria and SA. Well, i cannot blame him much since he is only protecting the image of his country from bad mouth people on this forum cheesy

But the fact that he posts some sensitive things and doesn't hide it even when things are going wrong in his Country. You earned my respect.

Lol cheesy, I just don't like people lying about SA or misrepresenting it - which is a national past time in one country in West Africa.

Anyway, thanks for the kind words my guy - you've earned my respect as well smiley
