Is it a sin to smoke?

While there is no particular place in the bible that state it plainly we should not smoke but however, there are many scriptures that admonishes Christians against intoxicants eg alcohol
Proverbs 20:1
Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.



Also, the bible also tells us to hold our body in honor not to defile it because the holy spirit dwells in us.

1 Thessalonians 4:3-4, 7 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;
For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.

Smoking dishonors our body (vessel), Infact we should flee from anything that dishonors our body, things like fornication, drunkenness, smoking, dreaming tattoos or markings on our body, immoral dressing etc

God does not just care about our heart but also our bodies.
Romans 12:1
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.




Lastly, we serve God with all of our being. Our soul, spirit, body, money, time, all that we have are what we use to serve and appreciate him for what he did for us through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus on the cross.
This is our reasonable service.

When you have a child do you teach him everything he needs to know when he's not old enough to bear it?
Even we humans have the curriculum on how people should be taught gradually, we all know that a child of 5 years can be taught everything within two years but to avoid complications the academic session is needed.
That's what God did for mankind, right from the time Adam and Eve stepped out of the garden of Eden they rejected God's guidance regarding right and wrong so God allowed their descendants to feel His absence in their learning process regarding our planet home and how to cohabit. So after about 2,000 years God called Abraham and from there the learning process began till today. Now slave trade has been formally abolished globally but we still have the modern way of enslaving our neighbours all these will take a gradual process before humans will know that equality is the only way to peaceful cohabitation.
As long as some people are enslaving others due to the privileges they have then humans will continue to make weapons and use it to intimidate one another.
That's why Jesus is called God's Son. He never tried to accumulate material possessions because he knew it's meant to oppress others but after his death, resurrection and ascension to heaven all the pioneers of his teachings were slaughtered and liars claiming Christians obstructed the gradual learning process.
Today Jesus is back but as a powerful spirit person, he is working with an organized group known as Jehovah's Witnesses, people everywhere hate this group because in their midst material possessions means nothing just as it meant to Jesus and his first century followers. John 15:19

In the Bible times, smoking was not invented, just like heroin or cocaine. Anything that is against humanity is against God.
