Now, here's a proper scholarly insight: Monaco is a principality with a limited sovereignty. The French Military is their Military. The French economy is their economy. The French foreign policy is theirs. The French National football team is theirs. They're not a member of FIFA or UEFA.
And even in the United Nations they're called a "Principality" just like Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Teaching you the meaning of a "Principality" is another topic for another day.
