This incident should be properly investigated and whoever that's found culpable,irrespective of his or her status in the society,should be made to face the law.

Now,I know why my spirit wouldn't just allow me to patronise this particular hotel whenever I was in Ile Ife. I would rather go to Celebration hotel at Eleyele area or even a small hotel somewhere else in the town. I always felt there was something weird about that hotel; I could feel it.

My take here is that people should always prioritise their personal security any time they're in an unfamiliar environment. I once lodged at a hotel in Ado Ekiti some years ago. It was one of those periods when all hotels along Eksu ( Ado - Ifaki road) had been fully booked; Eksu examinations period. Having settled down in my allocated room,I came out to have a feel of the environment and immediately, I sensed that something was fishy. The hotel staff and some unidentified guys I met at the bar were behaving in some weird manners when they saw me. I walked casually to the receptionist, a male,and informed him that I wanted to pick some items for personal use at the town centre. I drove out,made enquiry about the nearest police station from the okada riders and headed straight there !

I met the station's DPO,identified myself and informed him of my concerns about the hotel where I lodged. Of course, some cash exchanged hands. Thereafter,the dpo ordered two plain clothed detectives to follow me to the hotel. When we got there, the policemen introduced themselves and informed the manager,in the presence of other guys, that I was a guest of their boss and that they would call the hotel tomorrow to ask about me. I saw the officers off and when I came in,the manager said he had instructed his staff to give me a better room. Truly,the new room was quite cosier and it was only the murmuring voice of the lady beside me that woke me up around 9 am the following morning ! I did not mean that anybody was up to some evil intentions that day at the hotel but then I listened to my inner mind and acted as instructed.

Folks,be security conscious and prioritise your personal safety wherever your hassles might take you. That's my point essentially.
