The Number one citizen of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, has said he would consider the plea of some Igbo leaders that he unconditionally release Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB. The Genius Media Nigeria reports that Kanu is currently standing trial for treason and for running a proscribed organization. Although Buhari said releasing the IPOB leader runs contrary to the doctrine of separation of powers between the Executive and Judiciary, he would nonetheless consider the possibility. Buhari spoke when he received a group under the aegis of Igbo Greats, led by First Republic parliamentarian and Minister of Aviation, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi, at State House, Abuja. The President was quoted in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, as telling the 93-year-old statesman, “You’ve made an extremely difficult demand on me as leader of this country. “The implication of your request is very serious. In the last six years, since I became President, nobody would say I have confronted or interfered in the work of the Judiciary. “God has spared you, and given you a clear head at this age, with very sharp memory. A lot of people half your age are confused already. But the demand you made is heavy. I will consider it.” The president said further, “when Kanu jumped bail, got arrested and brought back to the country, I said the best thing was to subject him to the system. Let him make his case in court, instead of giving very negative impressions of the country from outside. I feel it’s even a favour to give him that opportunity’.”. The statement said the President condoled with Chief Amaechi, who recently buried his wife, praying that her soul would rest in peace. The nonagenarian had described the situation in the Southeast as “painful and pathetic,” lamenting that businesses have collapsed, education is crumbling, and there is fear everywhere. He pleaded for a political, rather than military solution, requesting that if Kanu was released to him as the only First Republic Minister still alive, “he would no longer say the things he had been saying,” stressing that he could control him, “not because I have anything to do with them (IPOB), but I am highly respected in Igbo land today.” Chief Amaechi said twice he had interfaced with Nnamdi Kanu in the past, and the latter rescinded orders earlier given on civil disobedience. He concluded: “I don’t want to leave this planet without peace returning to my country. I believe in one big, united Nigeria, a force in Africa. Mr President, I want you to be remembered as a person who saw Nigeria burning, and you quenched the fire.” Other people in the visiting delegation were Chukwuemeka Ezeife, former Governor of Anambra State, Bishop Sunday Onuoha of the Methodist Church, Chief Barrister Goddy Uwazurike, former President of Igbo socio-cultural group, Aka Ikenga, and Mr Tagbo Mbazulike Amaechi......https://thegeniusmedia.com.ng/2021/11/19/breaking-buhari-promise-to-consider-the-release-of-nnamdi-kanu-unconditionally/

I don't know why when Buhari's critics meet him one-on-one they'll become gentle like 'thermocool'. Meanwhile when they're in their enclaves they always run their mouth. The most recent of this examples, is the case of ffk. I know that If Nnamdi Kanu has a direct access to Bubu his songs will change. |

Peace is all we yearn for. That doesn't mean, we'd all fold our arms at akimbo when it is glaring that a group is glaringly getting back backed to expand their reach and lord it over the rest. May God help us all. Check my siggy. |

Aufbauh: ![]() It's called conscience. May God give us the grace and phenomenal success to make our enemies gather in regret to eat every vile word they spoke against us unjustly. Most, if not all, of them said far worse things in private than the IPOB terrorists leader said in the open. They knew he was not well and emotionally stable yet they enabled him especially when he started that lie that PMB is a clone. How they put such a team together and left behind the families of the victims of IPOB terrorists and people like Engr Igbokwe, Akunyili family head, Gen. Ihejerika etc suggests that there is still no effort to console and appeal to folks who have their family members killed by IPOB terrorists or their properties burnt by IPOB terrorists like Igbokwe who the IPOB terrorists burned his house and placed a bounty to kill his family members. President Muhammadu Buhari is a trained military person who knows that releasing the terrorist leader will kill the morale of the security agents especially those whose colleagues were beheaded by the IPOB terrorists. The judiciary will run its course. There's a precedent in the case where late Poet Ken Saro Wiwa was indicted for inciting his own faction of Ogoni to murder the about 7 (or is it 9 ) chiefs on the accusation that they are saboteurs of the Ogoni struggle. Those chiefs they lyned to death were later discovered to be innocent Till date, peace and unity is yet to return to Ogoni. Even the Elderstatesman, Pa Amaechi, gives no guarantee: Chief Amaechi said twice he had interfaced with Nnamdi Kanu in the past, and the latter rescinded orders earlier given on civil disobedience. If despite counsel by Pa Amaechi , the IPOB terrorists leader still went ahead to instigate the beheading of our patriotic security officers, civilians in the wanton destruction of lives and properties in SE, he is obviously irredeemable and the emotional appeal by the Elderstatesman is DOA. Most importantly, The victims of IPOB terrorists deserve justice too like those innocent Ogoni chiefs. All the enemies of Nigeria will lose las las. They always lose. God bless Nigeria. |

He will consider because the old man knows he has no case against KANU. You kidnapped a man from another country( breaking one of the international laws) and think you will win him in the court. Bihari is only wasting his time. He must release KANU or risk going to ICC and be convicted |

Igbo elders begged Buhari to release Nnamidi kanu and also gave their commitment to one and indivisible Nigeria. What happened to those that have died in the name of fighting for freedom? |
