do you even know what is call VAT. it is the same everywhere in Nigeria. it is not the tax you collect from market women. At present, VAT is collected by FIRS in Nigeria.

How is this relevant to the fact the SE takes far more money from the Federal government than it generates internally - which makes us no different from the "parasites" in the North that we love to insult? Most of Federal government revenue comes from Niger Delta oyel money, and revenue from operations like the ports, and taxes on the industrial and commercial nerve centre that is Lagos. The stats for state IGR against Federal allocation has been posted several times here on Nairaland, so it's easy to find. And we do terribly, while some of our brothers here claim that it's some kind of strategic fiscal policy, when in reality, it's just due to the incompetence of our leaders.

There is an obvious logical disconnect between a region which pays lip service to the concept of regional autonomy and even independence - even as the region profits heavily from money it does not generate like the "parasites" in the North they love to insult.
