Matters such as this, the midget will find his voice. This government is very insensitive to the plight of the masses and are always looking for ways to inflict more pain |

SALIMAN:It's also going to reduce our borrowing, free up more money for spending by the government on things like health and education, attract more and more investment in our petroleum sector, and crucially, make more and more people interested in building refinereis, so that Dangote won't hold a monopoly....since it would now be profitable to refine at home...and eventually in the long term, would bring about price reductions. It would also end the culture of lying and stealing and smuggling of subsidized fuel to neighboring countries at our expense, inflation of subsidy claims , and so forth. Importation of fuel would eventually reduce. That is, if government stops setting the price of fuel. It would also save at least N2trillion a year, if not more. If we had done this removal of subsidy in 1993, or in 2012, by now we would have been over the hard suffering. But we did not remove subsidy for the arguments that you are making right now, meanwhile because it has become unprofitable to refine fuel at home, we have ended up with no refinereis, and NNPC rejoicing over a profit made ...after 2 decades of losses The ironic thing is that many in this government were at the forefront of marches against subsidy in 2012.Now they have seen the reality, and know why their PDP predecessors wanted subsidy gone then.. |

| Re: El-Rufai: State Governments Will Support Total Removal Of Fuel Subsidy by Nobody: 5:43am On Nov 24, 2021 |
omenkaLives:Basically what happened last time is what has happened several times. First off a subsidy roughly speaking is the amount of money paid to cover the difference between the government price of fuel and the actual cost price. The problem is that the actual cost price is always increasing because of inflation, and because the cost of production always goes up.Then the price of crude also affects the price of fuel too. That means that Government has to, in order to keep fuel prices low , spend more and more on subsides. Unfortunately that puts pressure on our budget meaning that we end up running deficits. And taking loans and more loans. So Government reduces the amount of money spent on subsides and this manifests as a price increase.. Last year because of COVID, oil prices went down drastically. This meant that the price of fuel went down as well. Because o the fall in oil prices, there wasn't enough money to pay for subsidising fuel, so government stopped subsides. But when prices of crude went up, government brought back price controls and subsidies for fuel, otherwise we would have been paying 300 naira for fuel by now. That's the explanation of subsidy and why price of fuel went up from 15 kobo 4 decades ago to 165 naira now. |
| Re: El-Rufai: State Governments Will Support Total Removal Of Fuel Subsidy by Nobody: 5:46am On Nov 24, 2021 |
Jflex07:Well government did sign a contract for the renovation of some of the refineries. Also the issue really is not fixing the refineries. It's making enough of a profit to keep the refineries running and that is what subsidy doesn't allow. |

Let put it this way bro, the riches will be like it's just common additional 200 naira that was just added to it so its nothing. On the other side the mass Effect of it will be bear mostly by the average and the poor , because what it meant will be doubling the price ,in Nigeria of today it's always hard for prices of commodity to come down. Even if the glory appraisal of subsidy comes in does it mean salary will increase in time . Transport will be cheaper , backbencher: |
| Re: El-Rufai: State Governments Will Support Total Removal Of Fuel Subsidy by Nobody: 6:21am On Nov 24, 2021 |
SALIMAN:Well there would be some impact , which is why government should increase the 5000 naira they are promising and also.use some of the savings on public transport The problem with subsides is that it is contributing to our debt and making us borrow and borrow |

As at when GEJ left, fuel was #87. These demonic agents of this wicked party APC has gone to confuse the populace ever since about removing subsidy to justify #147 per litre price then #165. This same bag of bones called Buhari had called subsidy a scam o. When fuel prices crashed everywhere in the world a year or two back, it went up in location 419. Now they want to remove subsidy again for the third time. APC is a rotten party and their supporters are the worst scum of Earth. |

They are will continue to remove subsidies every end of the year, despite the fact they met the price of fuel at #160 per litr ,today fuel is #240 per litr ,still we are yet to remove subsidies, the most corrupt government on earth is been supervised by Buhari. |

djkirkoo2:In 2012 when I was backing the removal of subsidy after waking up to the reality of how it was damaging us, you would have joined buhari to call me a PDP stooge. I have never voted for APC or buhari in my life for the same reason I never voted for Obasanjo. They have been there before. Why should they come back? Ngozi okonjo iweala and sanusi lamido sanusi are the reason why I don't support subsidy. Good morning. |
