What could be the problem please ?

Some of us have been waiting for APL from a Federal Polytechnic since March but no news up till now.

Some did in d northern part of 9ja. I know someone DAT got Apl to work with a federal university nd has resumed work since.

You want them to recruit when there's no money to pay salary

Most of the juicy jobs in this country are advertised in-house. Via referrals.

Get someone in the system, NUC or just any school to get informed whenever there's an opening anywhere.

Or just package your credentials and start distributing! Don't wait for adverts, you no go see!

Maybe when universities are allowed to increase fees to 200000 naira per session or more then they may have the cash to pay for more staff

Simple reason is that the cost of subsidies on petrol is rising due to high oil prices and government is taking money from education and other sectors to keep prices of petrol low

And IMF doesn't want to loan money any more

My opinion though

So all the strike that ASUU has been striking since, is it for used purewater sachet they are striking?
Is it not money they are striking for?
Government has not answered them finish, Govt should now come and answer another new employees?

Others are done low-key using the man-know-man mechanism.

If announced, they believe the turn out of people would be way higher than the required number of people.

Some schools even recruit their best students.

Schools have always recruited their best students .

That's how most of your lecturers got their jobs. They did well in undergraduate, then got employed after NYSC and then did their postgraduate under the auspices of the.school either in-house or outside.

That's how one of my secondary school mates got employed by the university he graduated from.And he wasn't from a rich or man know man family. Just graduated with a good cpga.

Do you guys actually sit down and think of what is going on in this country, it's like you guys are living in another planet, please I'm not trying to sound insulting here, the truth is at the pace at which the country is going, just expect more of this from anything that has to do with government, each time one person in government takes or makes a wrong decision, it affects at least one thousand persons in Nigeria, it seems like you guys don't know the extent of damage that has been done to this country....

In Nigeria federal universities, register for your postgraduate, be remarkable in your studies but more remarkable in your relationship with not only the academic staff, but also the non academic staff; serve as a graduate assistant and research assistant pro Bono, ask how you can assist with grading or supervision; be willing to take role in a not very prominent university or an university out of your comfort zone;

On the other hand, get a politically connected person. Actually University appointment is often based on research capability and acumen than it is on your grade. Your class of degree matters, but it is secondary to your attitude. Many lecturers have a 2.2, but did remarkably well in their ability to manage relationship with their teachers and remarkably well in their post graduate studies.

On the third hand, search for scholarship abroad, they often come with assistantship, if you take proper advantage, you will be retained; you have to be purposive about the school you are applying and be in the knowledge of the availability of such opportunity in such country and school.
