Why Do Nigerians Prefer Crooked Leaders? by AlaafinOfOyo(op): 10:02pm On Nov 25, 2021
As we approach 2023 presidential elections, once again, the people are mostly promoting crooks to hand them power. What could be the cause of this?

A slavish mentality to empower men who should be in prison?
Failure of the first revolution that could have sanitized the country?
What?

Nigeria enjoys being rule by the corrupt people because mentally and psychologically, the average Nigeria is a corrupt person. For example, Tinubu's poster has been making rounds everywhere showing his presidential ambition for 2023 , yet this man is more corrupt that any other kingpin we have in the west , and guess what ? He has a large crowd of supporters chairing him on because he is a yoruba man who "means well" for the yoruba nation(even though he keeps selling the yoruba nation for cheap political points with his fulani masters ).

So point at any politician that is not corrupt, Pandora Peter Obi was just accused of evading tax, extrajudicial killings, using state fund to finance family and personal business, even open a business for nine year old girl, yet you are here pointing accusing fingers to Tinubu, you with a smelling arse is accusing someone of a smelling hand, remove the log of wood in your eyes before beholding the beam in another person's eyes

Nigerians love suffering and many are corrupt anyway so why won't they keep supporting the same corrupt politicians that keep them marginalized.

Often time such crooks have more money to spend. In addition, because of high level of poverty and shortsighted, many people become gullible.

Years ago, I listened to the UN speeches of the presidents of US and Iran and the prime minister of UK. That was when I realized that these countries shop for and elect their best brains while Africans go for dregs and money bags that have nothing to offer. Do you wonder why the country is such a shame?

Because the lunatics have taken over the asylum! Nigeria is a gangsters paradise, where the decent and principled either steer clear of politics or are rigged out of contention!

.....And then Nigeria isn’t a cohesive unit to be able to effect a positive change!

Just read what the obtuse fellow above you wrote. It's just like saying since you're bringing the worst from your tribe, what's wrong with me bringing the worst from my tribe. Africans can really be stupid. That's why the continent has continued in darkness. It's a thing of the mind.

Re: Why Do Nigerians Prefer Crooked Leaders? by otipoju(m):
Because deep in the recess of a Nigerian mind is the desire to oppress others. Although he complains about the politicians in the corridors of power, he is an active and willing participant in corruption in his day to day private endeavors and prays for a day when he will be in power to oppress others...therefore the status quo must continue so he can have his share of the national cake at a future date. Nigerians hate decent people at any level of organization.

A second reason is the modus operandi of the precolonial Monarchical forms of government .The kings were absolute RULERS of the subjects in their domain and had a divine right to everything with a willing army to eliminate any objection.

Thus Nigerians unfortunately in a democracy still see themselves as subjects to the government officials that they elected.

In turn, Governance for the Nigerian politician is not a call to service but an opportunity to RULE over fellow citizens with the armed forces and the"Police Force" designed not to protect and serve the citizens but perpetuate their interests over the bloody civilians.

.....just as they were used by the colonial masters.

The destruction of the educational system by successive government officials is deliberate because sound education makes a person easier to govern but difficult to RULE....and the goal is to RULE without neing accountable.

Lagosians are Nigerians and we don't have crooked leaders because we are not crooked people. If you have crooked leaders in your state , it is because the dominant group in your society there is full of crooked people and one of the crooked will have to emerge as a leader. The solution is first to be the change you want for your society then ,like a candle, light others up with integrity and excellence then watch those ones light others up too and it begins to spread till it will sack the current crooked leaders in your state.
God bless Nigeria forever.

So in your inebriated mind, a man that moved bullion vans to his house on the eve of an election to twart the people's will is not crooked? A man indicted for drugs is not crooked? A man whose classmates are not known but claims to be educated is not crooked? A man who is 5 years older than his daughter is not crooked? That means that you're more crooked than you admit. Perhaps, you're not even aware of your own crookedness.
