I think one of the major problems effecting Gernot Rohrs Super Eagles is the useless Lagos stadium they play at these days. I don't know why the Lagos state government insisted on taking over from Akwa Ibom that has better facilities. The team members have complained about that pitch several times but Nigerians always make it look like they're giving excuses. The fact is that that pitch is not upto international standards. You can easily notice how balls bounce awkwardly on the pitch just watching form your TV. Rohr complained, Balogun complained and I think that lately, they just resigned themselves to fate.

The super Eagles played much better at the Akwa Ibom stadium that stadium is most probably the best in the country. They also play better in away matches compared to how the play at Lagos. Also remember that almsot half of the Super Eagles contingent these days are made up of players born outside the country. These guys are actually not "Nigerians" in the real sense of it , so expecting them to "acclimatize" so easily and quickly with our konkiri pitches might not be the best thing to do..
exactly

How can you want a serious match like that been played in a purpose-built Olympic stadium?
You need proper football stadium for the right atmosphere

THERE IS PLENTY OF MONEY IN SPORTS.

If only the political leaders in Nigeria can understand the impact of sports on national development they would know that CRUDE OIL MONEY is not worth dying for.

SEE WHAT THE UNITED KINGDOM, GERMANY, ITALY , SPAIN, FRANCE, BELGIUM, HOLLAND, SWEDEN, NORWAY, FINLAND, ISRAEL, TURKEY ETC IS MAKING FROM FOOTBALL PLUS OTHER TYPES OF SPORTS.

If successive government in Nigeria had developed football and other sports Nigeria would have achieved so much.

Small countries like Kenya, Ethiopia, Jamaica etc are making fortune from athletics, crickets, rugby etc

Instead of creating or looking for non existing cattle route or grazing reserve, the federal government can engage states to provide suitable land to organzed CAR RACING.

Many of these northern states with their vast land can host formula one sports both for cars and motorbikes.

NIGERIA LEADERS SHOULD START THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX.

Amazing how in Nigeria we have turned keeping grass green into a national project that is done every few years.

All grass needs is constant watering (easily done with a sprinkler system)
Fertiliser from time to time
Cutting from time to time
Keeping people off the grass except when necessary (matches and training)

While I agree that out hot climate makes grass management less easy than abroad, but still many private parks, gardens, even sidewalks are green constantly, how much more a national stadium.

Funny enough, the national stadium probably has a groundsman on Ministry of Sports payroll, yet he/she will sit down, fold his hands and do nothing.

If the National Stadium is concessioned it will be constantly green

they don't want to create awareness for Akwa Ibom thus attracting foreign investment to the state.
Same play they did with the Ibom Deep Sea Port preferring to open a new Lekki Deep Sea port that involves land reclamation and grading instead of using the money for Ibom Deep Sea port

I keep reading how bad the Stadium in Lagos is , and it is. Keep hearing our players complained about to pitch and bla bla bla bla . Yet on the same pitch a team beat them 1-0 and could have scored more. If Car could score on that trash heap of a field then our boys should have been able to.

Generation of complainers who refuse to take responsibility

Dangote's money is doing wonders. Both National Stadium (Surulere & Abuja) wearing a new look. Nice one.

You are the one not getting it.

The pitch is far from the stand , knowing for sure the stadium is never going to be filled up , which gives a less intimidating atmosphere from the fans.
The best thing is to play in a proper, smaller football stadium. This is common sense and I don't need to be in the Stadium to know this

Have you heard about Man City planing to reduce the size of their stadium?
That's because the stadium is hardly filled up and it's better to have a filled up smaller stadium than to have a large stadium that's half empty
