Why Buhari Should Not Release Nnamdi Kanu – Northern Elders by valentineuwakwe(m): 11:57pm On Nov 29, 2021
The Northern Elders Forum, NEF has advised President Muhammadu Buhari not to release Nnamdi Kanu from custody.

Recall that Buhari after a meeting with the Southeast elders promised to consider a lighter resolution but worried that such would interfere with the principles of separation of power between the Executive and Judiciary.

The forum in a statement signed by the Director of Publicity, Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed said there are no safe grounds for president Buhari to grant the request.

”Nnamdi Kanu’s release will do serious injury to Nigeria which is already threatened by security and other challenges, the statement said.

The Northern elders advised Buhari to follow a judicial process and allow Kanu’s trial run its course.

Part of the statement read, ” We have carefully studied the request of Igbo Elders for President Muhammadu Buhari to terminate the trial of Nnamdi Kanu and release him unconditionally. It has also noted President Buhari’s response which both raised very weighty issues related to the request and his commitment to consider it.

“The Forum notes that there are no safe, constructive or informed grounds for granting the request, and advised that President Buhari will do serious injury to a country already threatened by multiple challenges to its security and territorial integrity if he delays announcing the only responsible response, which is that the judicial process in the case of Kanu must be allowed to run its course.”

These northerners are more worried about Kanu than Boko Haram terrorists and bandits ravaging their region because those people are mere cash cows. Unfortunately, many innocent people are caught up in the crossfire.

The bolded showed most Nigerians are born again fools. The only time the seemingly principle of separation of power between the Executive and Judiciary branches was breached came when Fulani army cum Nigerian army invaded the house of a person granted bail by the court.

I've reiterated it time without numbers that the only political solution in the case of Kanu is to accord him a fair trial and allow justice to take it full course.

Erroneously releasing Nnamdi Kanu on any grounds other than the judicial process will give rise to sectional warlords.

Ipob supporters wouldn’t agree that their organization is a terrorist group but won’t stop comparing them with boko haram. Very funny set of people.

The igbo elders went to beg Buhari instead of jibril el-sudan. Now, even Nnamdi Kanu will be making a mockery of them.
Btw, why is Nnamdi Kanu dead scared of prison? Ipob miscreants and mpkurummiri urchins who are touting him to be a freedom fighter ought to know that long incarceration is the baptism of fire for freedom fighters. Mandela spent 27 years in prison and came out to be president. So His Excellency Pmb's government is even helping Kanu by ordering his trial. By the time Kanu serves teeth-cutting years' imprisonment, like 20 years, he would come out triumphant and be regarded as the undisputed leader of igbos. Let Kanu learn the ropes of leadership the proper way, in prison. By now it would have dawned on him that cohabiting with women of easy virtues or posting self semi-nude pictures online or hurling insults and threatening war on the airwaves was his undoing. Let's also not forget that the parents, children, brothers, sisters and other relatives of soldiers and police officers who were murdered on Kanu's instigation may be planning their own strategy against him in or out of prison.

What concerns Hakeem Baba with what Nnamdi Kanu says? Baba or whatsoever he calls himself is from Mauritania. Buhari is from Niger republic. What's there business on what indigenous people in Nigeria decides to do with any political issue in Nigeria?

The powers of the HAGF to enter a nolle is available to The President. However, it is not advisable in the instance of a dishonourable fellow who jumped bail only to be responsible for the death of the Igbo whose interest he claims to be championing. He should have his day in Court!
