I know of videos of interviews of Turkish citizens and another different video of American citizens, when asked to list 5 African countries they knew, many struggled to name even 3 and none mentioned Kenya or even Ghana. But guess what, they all mentioned Nigeria and South Africa followed by other random African countries they knew or struggled to remember. This is just an example.

However that is Turkey and of course the Americans who were spoken to in the second video were more or less college guys/girls who cared mostly about hiphop. In Europe though, every European I know knows Kenya and Tanzania and they want to travel there for wildlife tourism.
