Awka stadium

The construction of the stadium is in three phases.

The first phase addressed important facilities like track and field, dressing rooms, terraces, changing rooms and the general aesthetics of the stadium. The second phase addressed areas such as the Governor’s Lounge, cubicles for fans and press conference room. The third and final phase, which required temporal closure of the stadium for about six months, handled complete covering of the pavilions.

This is arguably the most beautiful and standard international airport in international . Abuja and Lagos international airports are just slightly above
That is if they leave it like that.
There is something called "working on your strong points". If Anambra Airport capitalise on their strong points and maintain the basics, she will edge out Lagos and Abuja.

The same can be said for the stadium. Had it been they made it only football stadium, they would have edged out all the stadiums in not just Nigeria but the entire west Africa. It will become the first choice for football in West Africa because she will be the only stadium designed for just football in the entire West Africa.

Anyways, the did has been done. On the bright side the stadium is small and looks like it will be easily maintained, so it is up to the state Government not to allow such manageable piece to ruin in their care.
But there is still a window to make the football only stadium a reality.

These are simple things that you do to edge out competitors. Working on your strong points and maintaining the basics.

IT IS SOME COMPANY JOB TO CLEAN THE FACILITIES EVEN IF IT IS NOT BEING USED.

THEY MUST CLEAN IT EVERYDAY AND BE PAID FOR DOING SO.

ALSO REGULAR INSPECTION OF FACILITIES MUST BE CONDUCTED AND MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE OF DEFECTS.

The terminal is ok . What matters is that it is a starting point. The state should now focus heavily on a holistic redesign of the transport infrastructure of the state.

1) 20-40 seater City buses with concessional operators should replace keke and shuttle in next 5 years with planned routes and schedules for Awka metropolitan and Onitsha. This will improve livability.

2) Central Bus stations with offices, conveniences and shops should be built for inter City and intra state bus companies to pick up and drop off passengers from.

3) Every city has to be designed with at least 5 wide avenues for traffic flow and connecting streets. The maze design of roads in Nigerian cities is for villages. Modern cities have grid networks to make transport and delivery of other city utilities like water, sewage, waste disposal easier. Awka should be planned by expanding and planning roads towards Awka North. The Old Town of Awka should be decongested by relocating the eke market, prisons, governors Lodge elsewhere. In Onitsha, Ochanja should be relocated.

Anambra is already working on its strongest points and absolute advantage as the gateway state to the southeast region. Anambra international airport has just positioned itself as the best in the region to serve as the international gateway because of its standard runway of 3.7km and tallest control tower and terminal building with sophisticated facilities, etc. Hosting international events at ICC Awka will be a walk in the park due to the presence of the airport. Soludo will take it a notch higher.

but erhhmmm those white seats are a No for me. Trust some dirty spectators to stain those seats with all manner of liquid. A darker color sure pass. Nigerians have zero maintenance culture,so those white seats fit turn 'dirty brown or midnight black'grin two months after use

Take your overall advice back, Anambra cities of Onitsha and Awka are doing great in planning, roads, transportation and general infrastructures, the next government will take it to another level. APGA has stabilised governance in Anambra.

But there is still a window to make the football only stadium a reality.

These are simple things that you do to edge out competitors. Working on your strong points and maintaining the basics.

There are two aspects of every stadium in the world;
1. The FIFA Standard Sporting Facilities
2. The sitting capacity

1. The Awka FIFA Standard Sporting Facility
The Awka city stadium has all the mandatory FIFA standard sporting facilities such as the main pitch, the changing room with personal lockup wardrobes, scoreboard, floodlights, public address systems, and sports journalists area. In addition, the Awka city stadium also has the standard 8-man 400 meters track around it for athletic events.

2. The Awka City Stadium sitting capacity
The sitting capacity of the Awka city stadium is currently for about 3,500 spectators. The second phase of the stadium construction around adding of its sitting capacity has already been mentioned. The second phase of the Awka city stadium expansion on adding sitting capacity can continue on the opposite side of the current stand to accommodate 30,000 - 40,000 spectators at the same time. This will definitely involve building a multi-story structure and cost a considerable amount of money.

Therefore, it makes sense the way that this stadium construction was planned in phases. Once the first phase of getting the FIFA standard facilities in place are completed and the stadium opens for use, the construction of 30,000 sitting capacity at the opposite side can continue for many years as the stadium continues to host games and drive sports development in the state.

LOL.... Dr Obiora Okonkwo tactically kept silent and refused to congratulate Gov Willie Obiano in October when the airport was commissioned because he was contesting the gubernatorial election. Now he is able to speak the truth and congratulate Gov. Obiano for this uncommon feat of completing the massive airport! Better late than never.

We welcome United Nigeria airlines to the Anambra International Cargo Airport. Funny enough, he is the one that reaps the financial benefit of this project. Not even Obiano who worked so hard and took all the negative criticism by enemies of Ndigbo that did not want such massive facility in Igboland.

Gbam! cool

They already know we are on that path. That is why people like even the night owl now "advise" the obvious because nobody is now in doubt about the obvious. I can't wait to see the design they settled for the cargo terminal. Gradually, we will get to the destination God already wrote down.

Many thanks to Gov. Willie Obiano who had the courage and managerial acumen to initiate the first difficult steps. Anambra is already on its destined journey to greatness. They should not forget the Airport City and the Orient modular refineries part of this plan. Hopefully, Prof Soludo will have the courage to launch the airport city project and refinery timely in his administration.

I love the Accra airport city and how they have continued to use that area of Accra to launch Ghana's economic resurgence. Those who have recently visited Ghana should upload the Accra Airport city and the types of buildings and hotels being constructed within it. What I love about the Accra Airport city area is that it was purpose-planned by Ghana for a long time, and gradually developed over several years. So no unplanned building structures were allowed within the Accra airport city even after so many years of its development.

Today, the Accra airport city is a better hub for foreign businesses in Ghana more than the Accra central business district. That is the power of planning a virgin area from the start. Anambra airport city should imbibe this strategy and map out specific structures in specific areas of the Anambra airport city.
