Opobo people are bringing their Nwotam display to Aba township this December too.
Guess what? They wouldn't visit Gbaramatu grin

With their Igbo language, they have access to 40 million Igbos, a rich ethnic group with money to be made.

Why should they leave such opportunity and go and be romancing with non industrious Aswana chanting pirates that are terrorizing their coasts?

Put yourself in their shoes!

My love, it's 45 million, that's the population statistics. Apart from the millions we have all around the globe too. And people who have Igbo mom's like me that are patriotic. grin

I guess it's even more than, becuase in Kumasi, look here and there and you'll see Igbos. grin grin

I have been able to identify at least 4 Bonny Igbo kings explicitly stated. 3 Pepple and 1 other one.

Another account recorded 2 igbo head of houses.

Now guys do you know that from available records a slave couldn't be King in Bonny.

This was a problem for Jaja and the Bonny civil war gave him an opportunity to carry out his plans of asserting himself hence he became King of Opobo. This thrashes the aculturization fiction.

I have also heard fictions about Opobo becoming ijaw because Jaja married ijaw women, well while I haven't found out the number of wives he had, one account said to solidify his grasp of Opobo, Jaja entered into both marriage and blood covenant with the hinterland people who he was trading with.

Please, someone should kindly reach out out to the current Amanyanabo of Opobo, we need to tell him something.

Anyone who knows the date he would be visiting Amaigbo should also drop it here.

No Ijaw was ever involved in trade in the coasts.
You had not the acumen for trade.
You couldn't even if you tried.
Don't kid yourselves.

Igbo rulers of Bonny and Opobo sold everyone as slaves including Ijaws. You weren't sold much because you lack the population. When one is 24hrs immersed in alcohol (Ogogoro)like your pirate ancestors were, sperm production is usually impaired leading to high infertility rate.
However, the few of you they could catch, the Bonny Igbo rulers sold.

See this Berbice creole Dutch language formed from Ijoid language by Ijaw slaves in Americas.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berbice_Creole_Dutch

Enough talk online.
This is not Bonny nd Opobo.
Go tell it to them, physical.
Go and remove them from all Ijaw socia-cultural organizations they belong, and force them into Ibo own.

Nairaland is not Bonny and Opobo.

Ijaw came from Sierra Leone to Delta/Bayelsa, and from there started their pirate activities all over the coast of Bight of Bonny.

From this I gather Bonny kingdom was wide. Having Bonny Town as a kind of main town or capital. Which could mean there were sections closer to Kalabari who would claim Ijaw, and possibly even claim the town as back then. However, the town wasn't theirs as it was founded by the Ndoki.

All the communities, Kalabari Ibani and the Igbo founders can coexist together. But the problem started when the Ijaw became greedy and wanted ownership of the kingdom. Fabricating various falsehoods and using federal government backing to terrorise Bonny Igbos during and after the war.

I remember now, about 4 years ago when researching about Bonny in IPOB, I came across a news publication dated 2011 when Ojukwu died. It was from Bonny, under the auspices of Bonny Igbos Association or something like that, headed by a certain Comrade Ogbonna and he spoke with the confidence of one who knows who he is. I can't remember exactly if it was a resident Igbos association or indigenous Igbos stuff. In any case such association existed. Maybe it still does.

There was a week's mourning or so, declared for Ikemba. And the king of Bonny was notified officially of the mourning activities, while inviting other nationalities to join them in mourning Ikemba.

For the love of God whatever happened to that association!

Whenever I am chanced I will dig up that newspaper publication and provide it here.

Found it.

My memory serves me well. Mostly grin

There is a Kamalu.
He was a king in Bonny, I will find it.

However, I don't think the names of the king matters, because their kings from a small analysis I did had diverse names. Mostly English, Igbo and some sort of hybrid one cannot really trace.

Whether by arbitration o or by fight o, now Igbos want Bonny they will get it. Sorry bro.
you just showed your true colors here.
the Igbo national boundary stopped at the fringes of River state, you crossed several tribes/Aborigines to be the first to settle at a swampy Bonny with mosquitoes etc.
what ever happened to your notions about the igbos staying away from water because of the disease it brings??

the mangroves shall whisper dirges to your ending,
the swamps and the mosquitoes shall swallow you
come and get it and get drowned in the ocean.

I didn't see the Kamalu. The ones I found were address in English as Pepple and assert they are of igbo descent.
It is important to address this because revisionists are claiming Pepple was a European attempt at pronouncing Perekule, an odious lie that has been busted since the origin of the name Pepple has been sorted.

One author recently published his lie, 'We are sons of Perekule'. I am waiting for him to launch it so we can burst his lies.

Ijaws claim igbos in Bonny were slaves or they were selling igbo slaves (a lie that has been tested and proven to be fake).

Now I am pointing out to you that slaves couldn't be kings in Bonny. Meaning, no matter how successful Jaja was in Bonny for example, he couldn't become King. Whereas there have been several Bonny Kings before Jaja was born who were igbo.

Show us where Ijaw was mentioned as the language of Kalabari by Crowther and you win. Despite all the argument you are yet to show us the section in that historical article were Ijaws was mentioned. Or was Ijo, Ijaw, Izon, Jo-men, Jos non-existent then? If Kalabari was speaking same language as Bonny. And Bonny language was clearly spelt out as Igbo (looking at the word list and accounts of virtually all history), it means one thing. That both Kalabari and Bonny spoke an Igbo dialect still spoken today in Ndoki before the arrival of the Ijaws.
you want me to mention where it was stated that kalabari, Bonny is an ijo language.

If the first king was Igbo, then from the relationships of the subsequent kings, it is clear they were all Igbo as at the time Dr. Baikie visited the place in 1854.

It will be easier to trace the remaining kings ethnic foundation, from then onwards.

From anient records, we already know that King Opubo was clearly reported to be Igbo. What that means is that Perikoli (possibly the Perekule that the Ijaw landgrabbers are trying to twist) was Igbo also.

....Might this be a case of poor comprehension skills?
.....Or general poor education?
..... Just reading a few pages, I could see foreign ethnographers declaring that King People said he is of Igbo descent.

....I wanted to be sure, peherps, they were all bullshit. So I went further to confirm the sources and they were all true. And they have brought multiple account.
Igbo historians didn't write it!

This even led me further to see Oldfield's book.

...Guys, have not even explored Oldfield's "Exploration up the Niger" and Schön's book.

..Sigmund Kölle also added Obane as Igbo speaking.

If I were you, I would meticulously look for where Ejors were credited for holding stakes in those places because from what I can read, even Ibibios should have more stake than Ejors

I don't know where you are headed with this your line of shallow logic, but Captain Crow clearly reported that both the Kings of Bonny and Kalabari were of Igbo ancestry.

Check the attached and stop arguing blindly.

1 The Bonny royalty was Igbo
2. The mass of Bonny natives are of Igbo ancestry
3. The majority of slaves in Bonny were also of Igbo ancestry.

Don't just concentrate on the slaves. Also try and point out the royalty and the Bonny natives, who are all clearly Igbo, ACCORDING TO THIS NEUTRAL SOURCE

Identity genocide is a crime against humanity. Changing a people’s identity through hook or crook should be punishable by death.

Three types of Genocide was committed in Bonny/Opobo. The first by Isaac Boro during the civil war and the 2nd by Ijaw nationalist after the civil war. The 3rd ongoing since 1999 by INC/IYC.

This book is about 100 years later than the first major historical documentation of Bonny from way back 1798, yet we are still looking for the ijaw connection to Bonny.

At least, we have ascertained that igbos were in Bonny as Kings, Natives and Slaves.

One of them should be bold enough and come to a live debate possibly on BBC.

You can see that the Ibani people are not having any of that.
