They'd always discredit it so long as it isn't Crow's account.

I have some literature from the Dutch,French and Portuguese and would unleash at the appropriate time.

I've been trying to download "A Voyage to New Calabar River in the Year 1699" by James Barbot 1699.I only have access to snippets. That has some key information.
Haven't you already done that?
The record that showed that Ijaws lived close to the Sobous (Isoko and Urhobo) and from there terrorized Rivers in Western and Eastern coasts of Southern Nigeria?

No where there was Ijaw presence in Bonny was mentioned.

Thank you Sir. Please, if you have it you can also post his list of igbo names highlighting where he mentioned Opobo as an igbo name for males.

They way these Ijaws can weave fairytale from thin air at a moment's notice needs to be studied in school. This is a talent Igbos seems to lack.

funny enough you don't even know that the ijoh's see us as brothers.
in their own oral tradition, ijo who is to them as ujo was the first son to oduduwa who both migrated from the Nile basin around Egypt.
ijo had a personal juju named Adum, the yorubas knew that juju as adumu.

interestingly Adum deity was the first deity in Bonny kingdom and Alagbiriye also served as it's priests.
if the founders of Bonny didn't migrate from kolokuma (same with calabari) why do they share the same language?
why did the bonnys worship Adum?

anyways, I'm not making a point because it'll fall on deaf ears.
soon I will seize to respond to you clowns.
I will create time and write a well detailed thread, it's just time.
it is in ijaw tradition to enculturate a slave bought, Jaja was also enculturated to Jubo jubogha,
Asimini made some Igbo slaves free men after helping him in battle, now if you claim igbos owned Bonny, why were the igbos enculturated?
why was okwarazurumba renamed Jubo jubogha?

see major clowns, your lies are like leaking nylon, water keeps pouring out.

There was this British woman that was busy rewriting the history of tribes in the Niger-Delta during and after the civil war. I read about it in a newspaper something in 2001-2002.

The earlier explorers were the Portuguese and then the Dutch, as the British were the last arrivals. Fair enough, the British missionaries who came along were a bit more comprehensive than Hugh Crow. The missionaries's account (through interactions, socializing and longer periods of mission assignments) from Baikie, Clarke & Crowther with corroborating testimony from the royal palace, were specific about the Ibani host and their ibo settlers.

Captain Crow was only a slave merchant who deals in slave trading vessels and human cargoes much of whom were ibos. Thereby, his interrogation with majority of ibos slaves on board informed much of his accounts.

I have the book and I have posted several snippets from it .
If you read it, you will even be more depressed. The reason why I removed the one I uploaded which Igboid can bear witness to is because his description of all the blacks in the area EXCEPT Igbos (Heebaus) were all negative.

He visited Calabar, New Calabar, Cricke (Okirika), Dony (Andoni), He visited Bandy (Bonny).
He mentioned Igbo (Hickbaus/Heebaus) and also bought a sword from them, which I uploaded as well. He mentioned that the blacks didn't produce much and their production came from the "Heebaus black".

He did not have one mention of Ijaw or anything sounding like that.

Although the document all favoured the Igbos, he was condescending to others.

I brought down the rest of the snippets but uploaded the Igbo (Aro) sword specimens he displayed.

Bonny is motherland.
Opobo is a child of Bonny

Bayelsa is mother State, not my mum's state, get that.
Bayelsa is the only homogeneous Ijaw state.
Stop lying up and down. Very soon, you will claim Abia, your child's state.
In Bayelsa, there are 3 main language groups/people.

Stop terminating minority groups. This shows your mentality. If given a chance, you will wipe out people's identity.

This is BAYELSA

1. The ijoids (South Izon/southern Ijaw, Izon etc.)

2. The Edoids (e.g Epie, Attisa, Engenni [Known as the Oguan), Urhobo, Isoko).

3. The Cross-River people (Ogbia, Abureni etc. )

These are the people in Bayelsa and here is their classification and LGAs

Brass
Abureni; Cross-River language/people
Southeast Ijo; IJo
Ogbia; Cross-River language/people
kugbo; Cross-River language/people

Ekeremor
Izon; Ijo

Kolokuma/Opokuma

Izon; Ijo

Nembe
Abureni; Cross-River people/language
Southeast Ijo; Ijo
Izon (Ijaw)

Ogbia
Abureni; Cross-River language.
Southeast Ijo;
Odual; Cross-River language
Ogbia; Cross-River language
Oruma; Ijo

Sagbama
Biseni; Ijo
Isoko; Edoid/Edo
Izon; Ijo
Ogbah; Igbo/Igboid
Okodia; inland Ijo/Ijo
Urhobo; Urhobo/Edoid/Edo

Southern Ijaw

Southeast Ijo; Ijo
Izon; Ijo

Yenagoa
Engenni; Edo/Edoid
Epie; Edo/Edoid

Notice from this attachment, Crow talks about Igbo Aboriginals(natives of Bonny) and the then the Igbos brought in as slaves from the Igbo country.
Notice that the king of New Calabar (Kalabari) and Pepple the king of Bonny were noted to be both of Igbo Origin.
This account collaborates Asari Dokubo account where he stated that his ancestor, the Ediabali himself, who was king (Amayanabo of Buguma) was an Igbo from Abam!

Re: The True Identity Of Bonny/Opobo(UBANI) People Facts Versus Fiction by Igboid: 12:30am On Dec 05, 2021
Notice that the Aboriginal Igbos of Bonny United with the "people of Brass" to form Bonny. I am convinced the Brass spoken of here were not the Ijaws because at this point in time, the Ijaws were already known as the people of Jos! I believe these people of Brass were the the proto Ibibiod groups that were Aboriginals in the Niger Delta, the Abureni, the Ogbia, etc.
However, the Aboriginal Igbos in Bonny outnumbered the Brass and easily assimilated them into Igbo language.
The inflow of Igbo slaves into the Island only helped the Igbo Aboriginals of Bonny to consolidate an advantage they already held in terms of cultural domination.

The opposite happened in New Calabar (Kalabari), the Igbo Aboriginals there, including the Igbo kings, were outnumbered by the migration of Ijoid people there and became assimilated as Ijoid speakers today.

Take a look.

Both Crow and Baike agree that king Pepple was of Igbo origin.
They both agree that the NATIVE Bonny people are predominantly of Igbo origin.

Emphasis on NATIVE!

My grandmother Princess Okukuba W.D.Goodhead...immediate senior sister to His Majesty The King...was almost executed by firing squad by the invading Nigerian Military led by her Nephew Capt. Erasmus J.T.Princewill son of her elder brother King J.T.Princewill,Amachree X11....on her support for Biafra.

My grand Aunty who was nickname Madam Biafra....grand mother of a former Foreign Minister of Nigeria was taking through very painful torture before execution.
My maternal uncle one of the first lawyers in the Eastern Region never return home till his death because of his support for Biafra.
My father was a Biafran officer in the medical Corp.

My statement is recorded on tape....I never said we were taught....I said we were told many stories by our elders which we now discovered to be false.

On abandon property.....my Father or Mother did not benefit from properties left behind by Igbos....infact my family lost a lot of properties at Iguta.

All my great grand Mothers except one were Igbos.

The ancestral stool I occupy today...Edi Abali was founded by an Igboman from Abom in Abam in 1782.

I am an Igbo man because Allah gracious allowed Ijaw, Igbo and Bini blood to flow in mine veins......I am not begging to be Igbo.As I will not beg to be Gambari,Yoruba or Efik .

Bro, spare those people. I am sure most of them are in shock by now. Imagine, No one could provide one single counter evidence. I am interested in reading Alagoa's tales by moonlight because he seems to be the pioneer of all this.

In trying to grab other peoples territory, now the ideal definition of ijaw territory is being questioned. If this is not a classic definition of own goal, pray tell me what it is.

I have always had this notion that Bayelsa was a homogenous ijaw state until I came here..

Asari Dokubo admission above tallies with captain Crow account on King of new Calabar (Kalabari) being of Igbo origin as well as Pepple the King of Bonny.
Ndiigbo had Aboriginal presence in both Bonny and Kalabari!
While we were assimilated in New Calabar (Kalabari), we managed to hold forte in Bonny.

I knew this in 2007 when GEJ was picked ahead of Odili for PDP VP.
I had to do a background check on his Ogbia people.
That's when I realized that something was fishy with the Ijaw tag!

Bruv, that's Roger Blench's book written from year 2010-2020.

Go and dig up history books, just like we did.

Our oldest snippet was 1906 and we even used it very sparringly to make another point.... Go deeper in 200 years like we have done.
you're looking for old snippet but I showed you crowther's report and pepple and Dr koeller. which are way older than 1906, you rejected, Putindbutt brought this one, now you're looking for older one.
why are you a chameleon?

the igbos never owned affinity with water,
you all said it, that the reason why they hated the water was the disease that comes with it, mosquitoes etc.
y'all said it.
the IBOS are farmers who cultivate Yams etc now you all want to claim river folks all of a sudden?
since when.

Putindbutt:
During the slave trade in the 19th century, there was a heavy presence of Igbo slaves from the Igbo hinterland.
Further injection of Igbo people, culture and language came after the slave trade was abolished and all the captured slaves brought recently from Igbo land to Opobo and Bonny to be sold couldn't be sold off again, then the Igbo slaves SETTLED then there AMONG the Ijaw natives. The proportion of the Igbo people to the Ijaw was highly significant in both areas that Igbo language became the common spoken language. In addition, the Igbo language was spoken as a second language by all the minorities living along the Niger Delta and was used as a common means of communication with the Igbo people from the hinterlands.
After the Igbo slaves settled there, it was noted that the natives refused to teach their language to the Igbo people and outsiders but rather they reserved it as a secret language instead. This factor led to the heavy decline in the usage of Ibani in Bonny, the total death of the Language in the Opobo area and the pervasive usage of Igbo language in both areas. When the christian missionaries landed in Bonny, note that the natives did not present Ibani to the missionaries but they presented Igbo as their language instead.
This history is clearly captured in the work of Roger Blench of which a snapshot image of his pdf book is shown below. The full PDF material can also be downloaded here: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=4&ved=0CEwQFjAD&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.rogerblench.info%2FLanguage%2FNiger-Congo%2FIjoid%2FIbani%2FIbani-English%2520dictionary.pdf&ei=9a12UZqsGISMO8SqgMAD&usg=AFQjCNFwak52P0FClDB2M4XeYRy4X0Vseg&sig2=xjJrI-zJS26YVTz8QNqe9Q

We also uploaded evidence showing that Dr. Baikie clearly stated verbatim that Ubani people claimed Igbo ancestry.

Also remember Dr. Baikie's expedition was sanctioned by Queen Victoria.

What this means is that in this very important point, both Captain Crow's earlier work and Dr. Baikie's work rhymed, thus validating both works
