Alabo7978:I wonder where ibos put their thinking cap. Do we need oyinbo to come tell us the natural occupation of ibos?. From the screenshot below, John Adams, referred to ibos as people from the interior (ibo interior) who came to settle in Bonny. In addition, he said, they were obliged by the force of circumstances to adapt to the water and trade instead of hunting and farming. Which means the only way ibos could have survived in Bonny was to force themselves to adapt to the water and trade instead of farming and hunting they were naturally inclined to from the interior they came from. cc JANK23H

RobbStark:Yeah, trust Igbos, they learn very quickly. The last time a minority tested power, it was on the back of Igbos.. In far away lands, they were threatened that they will be drowned in the Lagoon, still, they stood by the minority. ..but you know what, they learn too quickly. |

Putindbutt:Guys our dear friend Putindbutt here just scored an own goal confirming what we already know from John Adams. You guys should take a look at his screenshot. It is obvious some of these guys have comprehension problems. John Adams here explicitly spelt out who the Ibanis were without mincing words. Please @Putindbutt, kindly tell us the name of this book and when it was published. cc Slayerforever Bkayy Ekealterego Igboid Ofoigbo Eastlink Vintagepipes |

Malawian:Lol, her name is Kay Williamson, born Ruth Margaret Williamson. She became famous after the civil war all thanks to those who brought the history intern to do an historical distortion job for them. Her Ijaw employers used her to do a yo-man job in the Niger-Delta. Distinct Ibibiod tribes and languages like Ogbia and Andoni were termed Ijaw by her. While similar Igboid languages like Ikwerre and Ekpeye were termed different ethnicities. Alagoa was her famous patron. |

Yet doesn't link Kalabari and ibos with any shared ancestry. Finally, you agreed that ibos supplied the highest number of slaves from Bonny port. |

Igbo land have always been landlock. If not for slave trade, Igbos would have no business with the sea or ocean. Make una stop boring us with all this unnecessary argument on this forum. Make una stop all this una mumu and unnecessary argument. There is no igbo land within any coastal area in Nigeria.

DubaiLandLord1:The map although incomplete because of ignorance of the interior tribes by the Portuguese, shows what we always knew. The Igbo is an ancient group that predates everyother group in Southern Nigeria. Notice there was no Yoruba but Oyo in the map. Map also reinforces our argument that Ijaw are aliens in southern NIGERIA as you can't see Ijaw in the map. The place below Igboland was unlabeled but they were not called Ijaw! We are on this thread to unravel the identity of that area, and so far so good, we have shown they are Igbos! ![]() |

When Igbos are ready for biafla, referendum will only be conducted in the old East Central State. Nah where igbo land start and end be that. There is no evidence on ground that shows any igbo kingdom went to war and defeated any coastal area before the arrival and after the arrival of the Europeans.

RobbStark:We all know both Abua and Epkeye people are dominantly found in Rivers State, however some of them are indigenous to Bayelsa State. Most of you seem to forget that all these state boundaries as presently constituted are man-made. They are not natural boundaries. If you are still in doubt and want a detailed history and identity of Bayelsa, kindly open a thread on the topic and mention me. Better still reference the several list of Bayelsa people that @Ekealterego has posted on this thread. |

9Pluto:Do you know that Biseni in Bayelsa was founded by Ndoni (Ndi onu iyi) people, but the town over town got overwhelmed by Ijaw people strolling into it from Gbaramatu and co, and soon the Ijaws outnumbered the Igbo Aboriginals and Biseni had a language switch from Igboid to Ijoid, with Igbo only surviving in surnames of some Biseni people and in some of their customs. |

DubaiLandLord1:The answer you need to know the identity of South south people is in the list of South south state governors as presently constituted. 2/6 igbo governors is a majority considering that all others are of different ethnicities. Head or tail, the south south cannot exclude the igbo from Delta to Rivers (let me not talk about the minority igbo in Akwa-ibom, Cross river, Ekpeye in bayelsa etc). Literally, the igbo divides the south south into 2 unequal halves. Most of you need to travel more and stop relying on heresay. |

[quote author=Putindbutt post=108218722]During the slave trade in the 19th century, there was a heavy presence of Igbo slaves from the Igbo hinterland. Further injection of Igbo people, culture and language came after the slave trade was abolished and all the captured slaves brought recently from Igbo land to Opobo and Bonny to be sold couldn't be sold off again, then the Igbo slaves SETTLED then there AMONG the Ijaw natives. The proportion of the Igbo people to the Ijaw was highly significant in both areas that Igbo language became the common spoken language. In addition, the Igbo language was spoken as a second language by all the minorities living along the Niger Delta and was used as a common means of communication with the Igbo people from the hinterlands. After the Igbo slaves settled there, it was noted that the natives refused to teach their language to the Igbo people and outsiders but rather they reserved it as a secret language instead. This factor led to the heavy decline in the usage of Ibani in Bonny, the total death of the Language in the Opobo area and the pervasive usage of Igbo language in both areas. When the christian missionaries landed in Bonny, note that the natives did not present Ibani to the missionaries but they presented Igbo as their language instead. This history is clearly captured in the work of Roger Blench of which a snapshot image of his pdf book is shown below. The full PDF material can also be downloaded here: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=4&ved=0CEwQFjAD&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.rogerblench.info%2FLanguage%2FNiger-Congo%2FIjoid%2FIbani%2FIbani-English%2520dictionary.pdf&ei=9a12UZqsGISMO8SqgMAD&usg=AFQjCNFwak52P0FClDB2M4XeYRy4X0Vseg&sig2=xjJrI-zJS26YVTz8QNqe9Q cc: JANK23H Alabo7978 Modified: Ibos on this thread are only fighting a lost battle. Give it up already. [/quote Please throw away all these post-independence documents, put together with the sole intention of neutralising the Igbo ownership of Ubani. Only show ancient records. They are more unadulterated. |

| Re: The True Identity Of Bonny/Opobo(UBANI) People Facts Versus Fiction by Igboid: 11:22am On Dec 05, 2021 |
OfoIgbo:Bayelsa is like 60% (this is me being generous) Ijaw and 40% other distinct Edoid and Ibibiod ethnicities. And most importantly, the Capital City Yenegoa, belongs to Epie-Attisa, an Edoid people. So the capital of Bayelsa is not even Ijawland. The implication if this is that Ijaw as an ethnic group does not have Indigenous claim to any modern city in Nigeria today. Also note that the non Ikwerre part of PHLGA belongs to Obulom (Abuloma people), even though Obulom people are part of Okirika , they are not an Ijoid people, they are a proto Ibibiod people whose language is classified together with Ibibio as a Cross River language. NIGERIA is a country built on so many falsehoods, which is why she is a dead country. |

Igboid:I doubt you can put an average ibo and intelligence in the same sentence. To begin with, are you a graduate?. Were you taught in school to read a paragraph in isolation? You chose the first paragraph in isolation while dismissing the concluding paragraph, who does that?.. How can you selectively isolate the first sentence if your mind is not already shallow. The writer focuses on the ibos inhabitant /descent of Bonny who had come from the interior to settle. " Going further, he revealed how they had struggled to adapt to their new environment which was unnatural to them. Aside the fact that Ibani is not dialectical to ibos. |

For instance, should I throw away a book of 2021 that supports its works with a body of proofs or citations from the 15th or 16th century? |
