Kenya is more food secure than Tanzania. Our agricluture is so advanced we export tonnes of food abroad. Outside of cashew nuts what you do you have maize and beans. This despite Kenya being half TZ and 89 percent semi arid and arid. You have a country the size of South Africa and Nigeria - that is very arable - and all you have to show for it is sweat potatos, maize and beans.

Not only are you more food insecure - your malnutrition rates are worse than kenya.

Are u seeing it for the first time?
When we united with Zanzibar, not everything was included in the union gov, sport is one of them.So each side can do in their own way.So Zanzibar chose to compete separately.CAF agreed on that, but FIFA denied them to compete in world cup competitions.
Zanzibar have been in CAF competitions for a very long time.
We have somehow a very strange union.

I know you have a union with them but I didn't know they sometimes do certain things separately..

thanks

You can't say that Ujamaa was the only reason that Tanzania is where she is. Tanzania being were she is, is a multivariable equation with some of the factors that led to this is was the war with Uganda (Tanzania allocated all her resources to the war), the famine of 1975 the nation just came from a war and was unprepared for such a phenomenon (90% of Tanzania economy was dependent on agriculture) and also communism which didn't facilitate individual creativity and free market.

Lame excuse - war ended in 70s - famine in 75 - dude kenya has drought almost every 2-3yrs. The problem is ingrained communism ideals that still persist to date.

it's almost 2022 and you are still making this excuse for why Kenya goes hungry every year?
Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by Mkenya2019: 9:28am On Dec 07, 2021
Who is making excuse? Kenya despite being 89 percent semi arid and arid with persistent drought as it battle sahara desertification; without any minerals; is doing great; our gdp is now clipping Morocco - and soon will be Africa 5th best - and is already Sub Sahara 3rd best. In any ranking out there...it now South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya at the top of Sub Sahara.

Kenya is doing incredibly well. When it come to drought and related....we have one Africa largest social safety nets...sending money to drought victims...orpahs and disable...so much Tanzania disabled people have invaded Kenya.

Obviously you think Kenya can defeat drought and huge natural forces of behind it - that is just naivety. Kenya best bet is to transition from agrarian economy into modern non-agri economy.

As for Ghana - despite all minerals - and all the arable land - you're like Uganda level. Kenya is africa largest non mineral economy.

See the communist Tanzania still blocking Kenya investment to their backwater. The same Kenya that lifted it from it's communism morass

https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/business/financial-standard/article/2001431215/magufuli-ghosts-return-to-haunt-kenyan-firms-as-bid-to-crack-tz-flops
Last week, Tanzanian authorities threw into disarray KCB’s bid to acquire African Banking Corporation Tanzania (BancABC Tanzania) following what the lender said were delays in approval from regulators.

But this is not surprising. Over the last five years, there has not been any major merger and acquisition by a Kenyan company in Tanzania, according to Kunal Ajmera, the chief operating officer and international business centre director for Eastern Africa at Grant Thornton Kenya, an audit company.

An increase in East African Breweries Ltd’s stake in Serengeti Breweries is the only notable deal in the recent past.

“The only other deals that happened are by private equity firms. They just invest in Tanzania because they have to balance their portfolio,” said Mr Ajmera.

Normally, when foreign money comes into the East Africa Community (EAC), private equity firms are expected to find deals across the trading bloc’s member states.

Elijah Munyi, a lecturer of international relations at the United States International University-Africa, reckons KCB has been given a taste of Tanzania’s protectionist policy that pervades nearly all the sectors of the economy.

“I think there was definitely going to be frustrations, even though [President Samia] Suluhu is a bit more open,” said Dr Munyi.

President Suluhu, who replaced the late John Magufuli, has said she is open to foreign investments, especially from Kenya.

The Ghanaian economy still remains bigger than Yours..
Secondly, the Ghanaian economy is a service driven one.

Lastly don't ever compare your country Agriculture output to Ghana. Ghana Agriculture export alone is bigger than your country entire export.

And Ghana heavily feeds itself even though the Agriculture lands of your country is far bigger than that of Ghana.

That video had nothing to do with agricluture...it was comparing Accra and Nairobi. I rather listen to a real Ghanian farmer. Kenya economy is 110B compared to 75B in Ghana - with all gold, oil, aluminimu and name it.

It's funny when little Ghana who only do Cocoa farming think they do agricluture.

Start with Dairy - Africa largest - Kenya - highest milk consumption - Kenya.

Mkenya2019:
No. DRC is hell hole outside Kinshasa. Tanzania is peaceful but just under developed. The country doesn't even have rumour of any war. It's arguably one of most peaceful countries in Africa.

Why is it so poor. It's deep communism roots will take some years to undo. Unlike most countries that implemented half hearted communist - Nyerere had a scorched earth communism policy - that basically uprooted people from their homes and land - into villages (Ujamaa) - took away their land rights and then compounded with education policy that is crazy.

Tanzania kids spend all their primary studying in Kiswahil. Then suddenly in high school - the language of instruction - changes to English. So you have a failed education system where average high school graduate cannot construct a sentence in English and are functionally illiterates. In normal country like even Ethiopia or Sudan - country would stick to Kiswahili or Arabic to the very end - but that sudden switch has kids totally confused and the educational outcome is very bad.

As much as the country is blessed with incredible natural resources - it's weak property rights - forex controls - and poor education - means foreign investment outside minerals is very minimal.

So just imagine a vast country with Dar in the coast - then huge wilderness - with villagers grouped in Ujamaa settlements - just growing maize and beans - endless maize and beans fields - with very little in infrastructure (roads) - at least electricity is catching up.

Nigeria at least has Oil - chaos - and decent education. Tanzania just has maize and beans - and illiterate people.

Ok let's put it in this order light which one is a more progressive country Tanzania or Nigeria? From what I saw Tanzania is more economically stable than Nigeria
Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by Mkenya2019: 10:51am On Dec 07, 2021
Nigeria is zoo. But at least Nigerians are hardworking and educated compared to Tanzanians. Tanzania is peaceful and functional state. Nigeria is complete chaos with power blackouts, endless traffic, crazy hawkers and informal flea markets, loud and chaotic. Let not add insecurity - from urban to rural areas - it almost like DRC - it's either kidnappers, cattle rustlers, jihadist or boko haram.

If you told me to choose btw TZ and Nigeria - TZ wins every day.

TZ problems are fixable. It's a problem of primitive agrarian economy that needs to be transformed to modern industries and services. It's like China of 1978.

They just need to embrace capitalism like China did in 1978 - allow private ownership of land, reduce gov involvement in business, reduce gov interference in private sector, change education policy - either go fully Kiswahili or English, remove forex controls and allow firms to repatriate profit at will.

Once they do that private domestic and foreign investment will flow - to take advantage of TZ peaceful large population, natural resources - and friendly people - and their economy will start firing on all cylinders.

All the changes in TZ do not require any money - just a change in attitude from their primitive gov and people.

Nigeria is a complicated mess - like DRC - it first need to be split into 2 or 3 countries - definitely the muslim north and christian south do not have a shared vision.

I've never seen hoe powered agriculture doing more export Kenya so called mechanize Agriculture.. Isnt that ironic ?

You keep making noise everywhere meanwhile your basic agriculture is struggling to even feed your country...

If you knew what GDP was, you won't be mentioning minerals...

Despite all Kenya minerals, your agriculture is still basic. Even irrigation is rocket science to your country..

Ghana PPP is 280 billion dollars while that of Kenya is 225 Billion dollars

Ghana GDP per cap is 2400 dollars while that of Kenya is now 1900 dollars..

Ghana Agriculture export is almost twice your country total export , that makes your country look like a joke.

Even our fruit and vegetables export alone is almost worth your country entire export...
Shut up and lose the unnecessary lust of comparing Kenya with Ghana.

Listen dumb dumb, it's called trade. We buy their maize and beans and everything manufactured in East Africa they buy from us. From shoe polish to mattresses. I know you wouldn't understand because your country only trades in oil and illegally mined gold. The concept of trade is alien to bonobos hence the 16 IMF bailouts every time the price of oil and gold drops.
