Truth be told, withdrawing students from the school or from other secondary schools for that matter wouldn't solve any problem. Let each school put policies in place that will help curb and even punish( severely if possible) bullying and bullies. State Governments should also make it a law.

But what baffeles me about this article, is how and why this woman ( a parent) would answer questions on behalf of the school management.

She talked more like the school executive than that of the forum.
How long will they keep playing politics with the lives of the people,i say let them close down the school so that other schools will sit up and if another school misbehaves they should close it down too and so on and so fourth

one of the surest way to get justice for lekki victims is to get our PVC and vote out those ruling us. Otherwise we will only react and they will continue doing what they like. Guess what, same youths will campaign for them and kill themselves for the politicians.
Lets all get involved. Surest way to justice ni yen

Rest in peace slyvester junior. I pray u get justice.
How will withdrawing of their kids from the school solve anything?

The problem with most of us is that we react to situations impulsively and without critical thinking.

how will demolishing the school be the solution. The parent already suggested change of management and i think thatz fair enough. You wont like it if u build an institution for 25 years and someone suggested its crushed overnight. the truth is, when it comes to academics the school is sound, so the area they are lacking is discipline and that is what should be looked into. Those who took their job with levity should be sanctioned maximally. dazzol
so how much were u paid?i hope its a reasonable fee cause it was bigger than your conscience, how sad!

Two of my Cousins passed, initially I was sad, after their first term there, they told me that they don't flog students in Kings College, that they do beat dem grin

Truly there's difference between flog and Beat

We went we saw and we conquered. Floreat to all my fellow kingsmen out there. It was not it easy, but as the song say we were nurtured in her classrooms in our early youth. Where we learnt to cherish chivalry and truth. I am proud I went to the skool.. Believe me u missed out

But why were the school management trying to cover up in the first place, lying to the world that the boy sustained the injuries in the course of playing football. This a low low for a school that existed above two decades already, and collecting about 3-millio as school fees. They should know better on how to handle matters like this without resorting to cheap lies.

God bless you real good. Mine observation too.

If you had passed it, the time constraint would change, and that situation would not have happened.

You are just displaying ignorance.

Shut your damn mouth my friend, what will closing down the school solve??

Improvements are required, people responsible should be made to take accountability. The school is sound academically, other aspects of their lapses should be corrected.

This attitude of "pull them down mentality" in Nigeria should really stop.

Closing down the school won't solve anything.......but the school can claim a child that was bullied to death wasn't bullied but playing football.

Do u av humai sympathy at all?

U are talking about critical thinking........when juniors were complaining about seniors bullying them.......and the school didn't put any measurement in place to stop the bullying.....but kept on condoning them...... until achild was killed in the process.

How many universities have you closed down due to carelessness of the school authorities coupled with that of the school hospitals gross negligence

Where is this energy coming from??

I've stated in my opinion, what could be done, you bring your solutions that can also be applied, not just to Dowen alone, but all other secondaryschools.

Shutting down the school completely solves nothing. Think!!!

If a child or a student dies due to negligence of the hospital or school......then by all means.....the school or hospital should be shut down.

The problem is far bigger than Dowen college; bullying is a major pandemic that exists in just about every single boarding school around Nigeria. Yes someone dying in this case has brought a prevailing issue to the fore, but then, how does closing down Dowen college solve this national issue?

We are all furious but we need to be very objective here, closing down the school would not solve the crux of the matter, which is bullying and cultism in our secondary schools; if it is about closing down schools, then most, if not all the Universities and other higher institutions in Nigeria should be closed.

In my opinion, the culprits should be brought to book, they did the crime, they should also do the time.

Moving forward, the management of the school should show empathy to the family and even offer some form of financial and/or non-financial compensation to them; the school should also swiftly undergo reforms that would eliminate the major issues, this does not mean the school should not be charged with either deliberate or indeliberate negligence as the case may be.

May God grant Sylvester eternal rest. Amen.
The clux of the matter is the negligence of the school authority and lying that the boy got injured from playing football.........
