O/T but very relevant! The dangers of women's leadership. I rmbr 2 yrs ago saying the NZAF has no attack FSBs thanks to a female PM in 2000 and is now basically a taxi service. IIRC,almost everyone clapped!

In May 2001 the Fifth Labour Government of New Zealand decided to disband the Royal New Zealand Air Force's air combat force by withdrawing its A-4K Skyhawk fighter aircraft and Aermacchi MB-339 trainers without replacement. This followed a debate over whether 28 General Dynamics F-16 A/B fighter aircraft should be leased from the United States to replace the Skyhawks. The RNZAF's air combat units were disbanded in October 2001, and many of the aircraft were eventually sold.

In November 1998, The National-led Coalition Government made the decision to lease 28 F-16 A/B fighter aircraft. The Labour Party opposition opposed this decision on the grounds that the funds would be better spent on the Army. Following Labour's victory in the 1999 New Zealand General Election, the new government commissioned a review of the fighter lease. While the report recommended reducing the number of F-16s, the government decided instead to cancel the deal in February 2000. The air combat force was disbanded following further consideration, with the government stating that the funding this freed up would be reallocated to other elements of the New Zealand Defence Force.

Anyway,people,mature men like Seneca,Machivalli and others, men with wisdom and the maturity of painful experiences whose quotes are now hidden on the net by algorithims repeatedly warned of the dangers of women's leadership. Seneca said,women want chaos not equality,Machiavelli said a women's republic is a thing to be feared while Kikuyus say we'll never be led by women ever again;imo dating from a matriarchal Egypt. You guys are a decade behind our socioculture in terms of Western exposure- early 2030s your women will imitate the screeching of Kenyan women and their neurotic demands for half of EVERYTHING........But now far,far,far to the S Pacific.

More confirmation from New Zealand on the wisdom of the Ancients:
New Zealand plans lifetime ban for coming generations to stub out smoking

Identical blindness to logic,ignoring of personal liberty while deaf to all entreaties and intervention from concerned on lookers to enjoy the false economy of fleeting financial benefit coupled with emotional validation:women's leadership is a thing to be feared!

Take a look at the map and tell me what NZ needs to maintain an Air Force for? Rationality before dogmatism - that is was drove this decision.
This is the very reason why the West will always be ahead of us.

Everything about this foot patrol in the DRC just seems correct:
- Designated Marksman -> check;

- Grenadier -> check;

- Foot patrol TTPs -> check;

- Walk where locals walk -> check;

What I've not been able to establish is whether this foot patrol was undertaken by a section or platoon.

Kikuyu1, Odunayaw, CaptainStephen, Jl115, shadowprimezero, SuperSixSeven : would you include the 60mm patmor and RPG-7 on this patrol, and why?

Patmor 100%....brilliant ambush defence especially for smaller squads!!! Being able to reply with mortar fire(within seconds) in an ambush situation is gold!!

In theory its always good to have enough firepower! IRL weight is a problem for dismounts so it becomes an either or proposition: if this were a mere section I'd include the 60 milly for unit plunging fire capability seeing there's already a Milkor for 37 mm direct fire. Every 2 guys would carry 4 rounds in addition to personal kit. If this were a platoon I'd throw in an RPG-7 distributing at least 24 rounds each weighing at least 2.5 kg among 7 guys.

In this kind of environment with tall grasses identifying enemies' general position is impossible, and enemies in areas like this are likely to be mobile(fast movers) mortars would be less effective... I d rather go with RPG where I can foceus fire on specific fast moving targets.
But You already have a grenadier so a mortar is better
