iamoyindamola:Arteta said it's accumulated offences now. He has been indiscipline and it's affecting the team spirit. How else did we trash Southampton on a day the captain was being punished. Even Laca loved it. |

iamoyindamola:You are feeling for him because it involves his mother which I understand. But believe me, there are many things we don't know about going behind the scenes. I thing I am sure of is that Arteta and Auba are good friends. Arteta is showing that he is not afraid to make big decisions which for me is good. The team is young and everyone, Arteta and Auba and the other senior players must ensure they don't lay any bad foundations that will be detrimental to the club. |

iamoyindamola:All u have stated here are speculations and assumptions. The club already put a statement up stating categorically that he was stripped of captaincy due to his "latest" disciplinary breach. They say they" expect our players particularly the captain to work to the rules and standards they have all set and agreed". Whatever bias u have for Arteta doesn't matter in this case, what matters is Arteta and the club hierarchy took a bold step to set things straight and lay good disciplinary foundation. |

Which ever part of the divide you stand, whether it’s Arteta’s bias or Aubemayangs indiscipline or even the timing and extent of the punishment, one thing is clear, The club has a standard, and when that standard is breached they’ll be consequences. I in particular, I’m pleased because it shows that Arsenal isn’t a club to joke with. This sends a precedence to the fact that no one should dare hold the club to ransome, you either contribute to the clubs growth or get shipped out. Having said that, in one of Arteta’s comments he mentioned the fact that there are certain groups of players that are considered the leaders something like a Cabal that get to nominate who leads them and also communicate their concerns to the club. My prayer is that they come to a conclusion I will find appealing, because like I have been telling some of my colleagues, Arsenal is a team that lacks players with strong character, we only have a few of them, hence why it will be hard for us to get to the level of Bayern. Those guys don’t play to just win, they play to dominate and strike fear on their next opponent which is what Arsenal has been lacking for a long time. About Odegaard, I personally don’t fancy him as I prefer Tierney or Gabriel. If there is one thing I prefer Arsenal to be doing when scouting for players is , they should assess the players character. I mean, are they future captain material, that is what we should be looking at. By the way, I was never in support of Aubemayangs captainship from the beginning so it’s a right call to make. COYG!! Tonight we ball. |

Firstly, This issue should have been done without the noise I know the press will ask questions but there was no need to bring it to the press conference. Me think there was personal insults into this matter else, i see no reason. Nketia has not been playing They should have just done the same for auba. They should av just benched him like Pepe and do the whole discipline internally If auba now makes noise about the matter via SM, then the club can make a statement with facts (stating his poor performance too) Wenger would not have allowed this. This thing sends out negative vibes no matter how you picture it and i can bet even if we get top4, arteta would be replaced eventually. Only a serial winning coach would be allowed this sort of thing, Why not maintain Laca as captain and add odegard to the group. This is baby management haba |

Lush100:1 Lacazette is in the last year of his contract and will most likely leave for free by the end of this season. Making him the captain knowing fully well he will leave makes less sense . 2. Benching Auba without giving any explanation for it will definitely raise eyebrows . At the beginning of the season when Auba and Lacazette missed about two games without any reasonable explanation, fans like me and u combed the streets of the internet trying to find out what exactly happened , some of us didn’t even believe the Covid-19 reason that was later given. 3. There is nothing wrong in the club stating it clearly the reason Auba is being axed instead of keeping everybody in the dark ...... I’ve not seen Auba complaining he was treated unfairly by the club in this saga , maybe cos he knows he’s in the wrong and should’ve been a better example than he is. |

iamoyindamola:Which is Even scarier. The club needs do better. Its not in a position to get sensible loyal guys currently. SHORT term contracts, with players being the one eager to extend may be the way. It will curb this nonsense entitlement of players thinking they are doing the club a favor. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 2:48pm On Dec 15, 2021 |
Lush100:Is Arsenal is secret cult? The way we think sometimes... Any reason why Aubameyang not being named in the match day squad cannot be kept internally as you put. Talk less of a disciplinary action as big as being striped of his captaincy. There must be a public statement which has been made. The situation was perfectly handled. |

Odegaard as captain doesn’t inspire me but I desperately hope he can bring some sanity to this team. I am personally worried for him because he is only starting to find some consistency and now he is burdened with the captainship of a team with a fragile mentality. Can he deal with the responsibilities and still remain consistent? I would have preferred one of Gabu/Ramsdale even though I don’t necessarily find it attractive for goalie’s to be captains. I know those senior agbayas like Xhaka/ Laca/ Auba can make life difficult for anyone but I am wishing Odegaard and Tierney all the best because we need some dominant influence on the pitch while we are playing. |

iamoyindamola:You are not the only one my brother. There is so much insincerity and hypocrisy laced in Arteta’s decision, sadly not everyone will see it because he is laying down the law. I no wan talk too much but if we follow the history of Arteta since he joined Arsenal, you should know this man is nothing but a con man. This is not about liking or hating the man, this is not about doing the right thing against Auba.. This is about the fact that Arteta is very inconsistent in how he has man managed the team. If Auba was scoring 30 goals or saving his job like Saka did, I can guarantee you the intern will find a way around this situation. No one should misconstrue my opinion to mean I support an indiscipline player, if you do, you are on your own and it proves you have no idea about the personality behind this handle. |

BlueRayDick:Sir, we are talking of management Firstly, if Laca is the 2nd captain, Why take it off him now. How do we know what it would do to his performance. He hasn't shown he does not value it, Until he leaves treat the player like he is part of the team, doing otherwise can bring this season to disruption. When he leaves, giving the armband to another person would be logical and would need no explanation. 2ndly, If MA says to press conference, that Auba is not available, You have protected the club and the player. When the news comes, they would have known u tried to protect both. MA can maintain that the player is still not available, even with rumors, The club can put the matter on the website but the manager must not make any comment to that because arteta is not going to lace boot and kick the ball, the players will. 3rdly, It would be easier to bring a player back from bench or substitute appearance if you did not "display " this thing publicly and he would be giving his best performance because he understands u tried to protect the matter. Unless he just want to coach clubs for 2 or 3 seasons . |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by BlueRayDick: 3:24pm On Dec 15, 2021 |
Lush100:It makes no sense to me for a club to be changing captains like underwear . If a player has done something that calls his captainship into question, let him face the music like Auba just did. Now that being said , whoever will be the new captain must be carried along with the club’s long term goal. Lacazette is not part of the club’s long term goals and it’s visible to the blind and audible to the deaf. In fact , making Lacazette for 6 months only to choose another captain after his departure will even unsettle the team instead of calming things down. Lacazette being considered for captain is a no no for me . As regards management of Auba’s issues , I believe the club handled it well. Like Spy360 pointed out , we are a football club not a a secret society whose details/ informationsare not available for members of the public. Your so called “baby management “ has no basis in this case at all. |

All these debates and opinions around here is very interesting to see and read. Lemme drop my own. 1. For Auba to be stripped off his captaincy and he's not caused a rancour about it (yet), maybe they might have probably told him before that any disciplinary issue will see the armband taken off from him. 2. For those saying the club would have kept it on low, I don't think that will be possible. Remember this is arsenal captain we're talking about, and such thing can't be kept under the carpet. The best answer was what was given (disciplinary breach). No more no less. Remember even Wenger didn't sweep under the carpet gallas issue then(someone correct me if I'm wrong) 3. As for the captainship, I'm never in support of giving odegaard and stripping lacazette off it. Why don't lacazette just see out this season. Maybe this cabal ish someone raised is true and maybe Arteta is trying to avoid that seeing how close laca and auba is. But to me, it isn't right one bit. 4.. Arteta and the board took a bold decision and no matter how we wanna look at it, they have a logical reason to do such which makes it right and it's not as if they're witch hunting auba. We should look at the message critically and not messenger. For those saying if auba had been banging goals this season, Arteta wouldn't have done such. Well it'll will interest you to know that when auba was benched against Tottenham, he was in good form scoring 9 goals in the last 12games before Tottenham match. In fact, most of us here where surprised that day seeing auba on the bench and just wished laca luck after hearing the reason. If Arteta can do it then, why then do we think he can't do it now? Well, these are just the few points of mine |

Jodera:I think you guys are misconstruing we that question the sincerity in the decision to mean we tolerate indiscipline. Faarrr from that. You say he benched Auba against Spuds, what happened after that? Did Auba not get back into the starting 11 for the Europa league against Benfica and Westham in the EPL? At this time Auba is expendable and that is why we are in this space. 10000%, if Auba was topping the scoring chart, he probably would have benched him, even though I doubt it but he would definitely not make Auba an outcast like Auba has become now! Can you help me explain and justify what happened after Xhaka copped a red card, swore at the fans, refused to apologize to his team mates or fans and got right back into the starting 11 after his ban! Was that the first time? No… So let’s stop this thing. How about the Ozil situation? Should we revisit how he was treated by Arteta and the club? Bro, management has rules and policies but I can assure you especially if you are in any high level management position that there are creative ways to handle policies and procedures. Once again, I am not saying the decision is wrong, the club is absolutely right but there is 0 sincerity in the purpose from Arteta! |

iamoyindamola:Pepe and bench isn't new. He gets benched even after scoring twice in previous matches. Xhaka already got punished by the FA, and got striped of captainship by the club, had Arteta meted more punishment you would still be crying foul and hypocrisy then. Besides these cases are instantaneous events unlike the Auba case which happened overtime. |
