there's no superior quality between the roads. It's all about wear and tear, How often the roads are used.

I think you make a good point on how often the roads are used but I mean even in Nigeria you can't compare state roads to federal government roads. The later despite having more user tends to last longer than the former with less users so,it still boils down to quality.

Even in Nigeria? The only federal road with heavy users in Nigeria is the Lagos/Ibadan expressway....... Every other federal roads in Nigeria doesn't even have more users than ikorodu road sef.

your level of reasoning is so shallow...

No matter the quality of the road, as long as it has more users it will go bad quickly especially when it is asphalt.

Nigeria biggest problem is LACK OF AXLE LOAD CONTROL ON BIG TRUCKS. Even if you build how many roads; those trucks carrying 60 tonnes of cargo will fry the road in no time.

This use to happen in Kenya when we had no axle load control or the enforcement was lax.

Now in kenya very strict axle control - with weight bridges all over - including temporary - you overload - you will sell that truck because the fines are very punitive. I have been in trucking business...you can pay anything from upto 10K usd as fine.

Trucks are allowed max 5 axles including the driving/steering one - and the weight has to be well distributed.

Weigh bridges are automated...you dont stop...unless you get red light flag. Max gross tonnage of 48 tonnes...so generally you can only carry about 30 tonnes...because empty truck with trailer already weigh nearly 20 tonnes.

Even if you have a million small cars..they will not damage the road. But a few overloaded truck carrying 70 tonnes will fry that tarmac away.

A truck that is 10 percent loaded causes 50 percent more damage.

Kenya for 15yrs has nearly eradicted potholes...because of weight bridges.

Lmao jealous soul. I just checked Westland to see if any has changed but that place still looks despicable. Tell your govt to lift this video as Nairobi 2050 and stop aiming SA. 2050 eko Atlantic would have gone half way our metro rail would have gone up to 10 lines stretching across every corner of the city amongst other infrastructure and Lagos and Abuja will become the untouchable africa premier city(Africa economic centre).

Where they are no weight bridges or virtual weight bridges (automatic) kenya deploy random weight bridges and nab overloading trucks

Unless you build reinforced concrete roads - enforce strict overloading and axle distribution controls - otherwise you're throwing good money down the pits.

Some Nigerians have studied the cost of damage of trucks on the roads

Conclusion - Trucks account for 110/144 - nearly 80 percent of the damage.

If the Zoo was functional country - they would stump down on overloading - and their roads would last longer - 80 percent longer.

http://article.sapub.org/10.5923.j.ijtte.20211001.02.html#Sec1

However, upon aggregation, the benchmark average annual maintenance costs per kilometre in Nigeria stands at ₦143,182,853.55, while the average annual per-km maintenance costs attributed to HGV traffic is ₦101,385,881.57. Hence, the corresponding per- equivalent single axle loads unit cost is ₦4.03. This figure represents the damaging benchmark cost of overload per equivalent single axle loads (ESAL) on the Nigerian road. This should describe the basis for the penalty for excessive axle-load violations on Nigerian road. For a sustainable road maintenance practice, we recommend that the government set up an agency for enforcing dimension, weights and axle load controls on the Nigerian roads.

Our rural population of 70 percent and 30 percent urban - that make sense to me that someone in rural kenya will prefer to cook with firewood.

I dont see that as big problem...especially when we dont have LPG and have to spend a lot of money importing it.

Now for Nigeria what excuse do you have?

Various sources keeps exposing the cooking of your electric stat figure. Include satellite tracking alongside this a few other charts that have popped up here and you will you are struggling to compete with Uganda. You see what I mean now when I say your zoo can’t lecture us on electricity.

Lagos will become Africa’s untouchable premier city. Already we are among African top tier city with SA at the very top. In a few de ads New York and those Chinese cities will see dust.

Our electricity data like anything in Kenya is solid. We are not a zoo.
1) We now have 8.6M customers of Kenya Power Ltd - about 2 million are business - about 6.6m are households. We are adding 1.5M almost annually to main grid - one fastest electrification in the world with Bangladesh.
2) We have about 2 million household on solar electricity and mini-off grid - as you know we are world leader in small solar home system beating even India.
3) We have 12 million households - distributed in a small corridor. Therefore any night light will show a lot of darkness because nobody lives there. Kenyans are cramped in a small corridor that is arable. The arid places is teeming mostly with cattle, goats, camels and wild animas . We welcome Zoogerians to move there. You will feel at home as proud member of bonobo family together with twin bonobo Ghana.

Clearly, the problem little India has is not building up its economy and then borrowing too heavily. Nigeria was like that in the days of the military, especially Babangida.

But with Obasanjo's coming, the economy started booming, first of all with his drive about telecommunications and expanding the banks' capital base. Then the seriously of local content in our oil industry. Jobs were created en masse. The economy boomed.

Kenya needs to build up its economy. At least it doesn't have the kind of large population Nigeria has and it doesn't have religious problems like we do. But it remains backward because of its poor economy.

Quality education is another angle Kenya needs to look at. I think the emphasis laid on a regional exam like WAEC since the 70s has really helped West Africa in terms of educational competition. Here, we start thinking of WAEC since early secondary school classes.
Just look at the embarrassing incident about Kenyan nurses failing a basic exam on English language. Little India definitely has a long way to go.

The most nonsensical post of the day.
1) Kenya economy has grown from 15B dollars- in 2005 - to now nearly 110B dollars - in 15yrs. Show me a country that has done that well around. Now Morroco at 120B sit btw Kenya and top 5 in Africa.

2) That real growth you can see in Nairobi and other city growth - kenya use to collect 2B dollars as taxes in 2005 - and now it's approaching 18B dollars in ordinary taxes and 22B dollars in total revenues. Gov budget now approaching 35B dollars.

3) Kenya has well diversified economy that is impossible to knock it down - nothing the last 15yrs either locally or Corona or global financial crisis has slowed it down. Already in 2021 - Kenya has recovered beyond pre-corona levels and firing on all cylinders...growing 10 percent the last quarter. The trick to having sustainable growth is to BROAD BASED ECONOMY. Nigeria is still heavily reliant on Oil.

4) Kenya macro-economics are almost enviable for a country at this level. Base interest rate of 7 percent. Commercial banks lending at 13 percent. Inflation for long time has been single digit...never exceeding 5 percent. Kshs has been very stable. Debt as always been around 50 percent but from 2014 when we became Low Middle Income...we are approaching 70 percent. That is where Low Middle Income Countries should play around. Kenya gov remember owns about 200 SOES - including 35 percent stake in Safaricom that is worth nearly 8B dollars - enough to pay off all Chinese debt to build SGR if Treasury offloaded shares today at NSE>

4) Kenya has Africa highest HCIs. Kenya quality of education is also Africa highest - maybe Mauritus beat us. In all education assessment done in Africa...kenya sits at the very top and has done so for long time.

Changaa is dry gin just like Vodka. It's obviously not for West African sissies. It's a drink designed to knock you out. The distillation produce highly concentrated drink - and because the poor take it - they want something that can knock their socks off - otherwise Changaa is just like Scottish Whisky or Russian Vodka or American Rum.

You can only make wine from palm tree. And from what I saw you dont even ferment it. You literally wait for it to naturally ferment.
