The capabilities of any fictional character are whatever the writer wants it to be.

It's why we call it's sci-fi.

There has to be in-movie science to justify some things...
If it isn't ludicrous, we can let it slide, but if the film prides itself as being intelligent, then it has to be intelligent or better still, keep it's not so intelligent parts to the barest minimum...

Inception is a sci-fi movie but we flow because it's science even if debatable is actually what it is...Rooted in science...

Many heroes can fly...Supes was just one example...The point being that it was explained with movie logic which is compelling enough to aid us in suspending disbelief...
Storm can shoot lightning because she's mutated..
Wonder woman a supernatural Creation...

Zombies can't give birth because they are dead, rotting, decaying along with the presence of flesh eating bacteria which aids in decomposition of corpses working overtime on them...

Someone like me will read the whole spoiler, go ahead to read the entire plot on Wikipedia to confirm if it is worth my time then go ahead to watch the movie proper............... And still enjoy it.

What you are explaining is called "INTERNAL LOGIC".

A movie must have some logical consistency that follows the rules of its plot/universe. Or else, the suspension of disbelief fails.

Alien physiology doesn't negate the fact that the are zombies and for that very reason, do not have biological functions...

Do they piss, poop, vomit, fall sick, do their hearts beat and pump blood oxygenating their system...
Zack goofed, Zombies can't reproduce by their nature...Justifying it as alien physiology isn't enough for me....

The zombies there are still alive, they are infected by a fungus which kill all their brain cells driving them insane, filling them with a need to infect people and causing serious mutations. This fungi does eventually kills them.

Funny enough, there's a zombie movie I watched where the zombies came together to start a war with the humans,they could even shoot guns. It's one of those Romero day/Dawn of the dead zombie movies.

If Zack Snyder goes with the alien DNA theory then it will stick, anything else might seem like bad writing,he should explain the origins in the sequel abeg.

Even his team knew it made no sense...Zack wanted it to be cool by including a zombie fetus...
