AlexBells:With all Humility The Biafran Army was stopped by 179 Soldiers at Ore , Western Region Commanded by Col Iluyomade The Midwest was being neutral and didn't expect an Invasion Both Ojukwu and Gowon. had promised to respect the Neutrality of the Midwest Ojukwu broke that Promise and caught the Midwest off guard But the Midwest seriously made up for it later and gave the Biafran Army fire |

christistruth01:Was the Fulanis ever a big force, lol you are comparing defeating Fulanis in Tiv land but you forgot Igbos have direct boundaries with Tiv, Idoma, Igala, now manpower capacity, I'm not bragging but it do seem like an average Igbo could edge out an average Tiv in terms of combined composure and robustness 2. Number of personnel that would be like 10 Igbo to one Tiv/Igala or Idoma 3. Weapons and intelligence: You know that as far as Military intelligence and indigenous weapons are currently the question the Igbos would best any nation currently, if you want us us to be sincere, 4. Honestly Fulanis are minority so you can't equate defeating them in Tiv land when they had to come from far North to Igbo/Tiv/Igala and Idoma war, seriously 5. Another advantage the Igbo have over those is that their only access to sea (River Niger) passed through Igbo land, honestly it is no brainer for them to try to fight us. |

christistruth01:Was it not same thing I'm saying, that the match to Midwest and west was total waste of time, and I don't know where you are getting your info about Ojukwu abd Gowon agreeing to respect the Nuetral Midwest honestly I don't know where you got it from, the Biafran forces just decided to revert, they definitely would be out of suply but same wouldn't have been the case in a Northern match especially in Kogi and Benue these are pretty close to Igboland |

AlexBells:Biafra armed forces was incapable of defending their own capital Enugu how could they have defended enemy vast territory if they occupy it? They occupied Midwest region but couldn't defend it when Federal forces attacked the region. Nobody can win a war if you are not well prepared for it.Biafra armed forces had less than 200 riffles when the war started. That war should have been avoided. |

paramakina202:These are still part of the issues I'm pointing out but occupying Benue or Kogi could have been the priority from onset, irrespective of how you looked at it, yes the whole approach was flawed, Enugu fell because Ojukwu matched Westwards instead of Northwards, There was more fierce battle for Onitsha than for Nsukka which ought not be, it didn't really matter the amount of armoury at first, right approach could have saved the day, geographical understanding and logistics is very important in warfare which Biafrans didn't seem to care about |

owagbeba:Biafrans fought like a national army because Biafra was a nation. In terms of armament, Nigeria did not fare better initially however it got international help from real military powers in the world. |
| Re: If There Is Any Past Nigerian I Would Go On A Long Bus Trip With, It Nzeogwu by paramakina202: 11:27pm On Dec 18, 2021 |
AlexBells:The battle for Onitsha was difficult for the invaders due to River Niger nothing more, once they they were able to cross the River Niger, Onitsha failed to their hand. Biafran army were ill eqquiped to defend her territories.Nor matter what military tactics Ojukwu might have adopted Biafra was doomed to failed.Instead of going for secession Ojukwu should have allowed 'street' to take their revenge on the northerners who were killing our people in North until the whole problem is solved. |
| Re: If There Is Any Past Nigerian I Would Go On A Long Bus Trip With, It Nzeogwu by Idiko1: 11:39pm On Dec 18, 2021 |
paramakina202:Ojukwu did what any military tactician should have done. How much of the "Street" is a proven tactics today with IPOB? Biafrans earned their respect from Nigerians even till date. Most Nigerians are still bewildered on the instance small Biafra with nothing was able to sustain war of attrition for such long period. Any rumble in the east remains the utmost concern to Nigerian government. |
| Re: If There Is Any Past Nigerian I Would Go On A Long Bus Trip With, It Nzeogwu by paramakina202: 11:57pm On Dec 18, 2021 |
Idiko1:So we lost 4mln of our people just to impress our enemies and earn their respect and became a defeated people? Forget about IPOB nobody send them market. What I meant is that when Northerners was rioting going from house to house killing Igbo people in the North we should have retaliated in the East rather Ojukwu was playing nice guy and gave them protection or safe passage back to the North. We should have given Northerners living in Eastern region eye for an eye treatment until Hausa/Fualni will come back to their senses. |

paramakina202:Those who bring morality to the fence of war have no place in diplomacy. I had rather fight than succumb to the sight of a drunken soldier from northern region. Do you know how people Nigeria lost at the battlefield? I had wanted every person to study the historical facts about Nigeria and Biafra before any conclusion. Ironsi was alive and saw the first wave of pogrom in northern region in May 1966 yet stayed docile. It is unfortunate Ndigbo had a drunk at the leadership position. |
| Re: If There Is Any Past Nigerian I Would Go On A Long Bus Trip With, It Nzeogwu by paramakina202: 12:17am On Dec 19, 2021 |
Idiko1:The pogrom started with the fall of Ironsi not before that.Twice Ojukwu asked our people who managed to make it back home alive to go back to the North and they were killed he did nothing than to use it as an excuse to declare for secession which from all indications he wasn't prepared for. |

Idiko1:To the contrary I provide jobs to Nigerians. You must be mistaking me for someone else. Yes I read the letter, seems like you weren’t aware of the letter and Nzeogwu’s last recorded interview. What is your problem with the letter and why is it junk. It is an excerpt from Obasanjo’s book titled Nzeogwu. I bet you didn’t know that Obasanjo is a renowned author and he wrote books. He was very good friends with Nzeogwu and wrote a book about him. Instead of hauling insults because you are severely pained and disagree with facts, all you have to do is ask questions, I am more than willing to educate you for free if you ask nicely.

paramakina202:I also strongly believe that secession was wrong but saying that irrespective of the tactics deployed that the war couldn't have come out differently is also not accurate, first Ojukwu was not fit to lead the war but had anyone else like Nzeogwu led the war it could have been different, Maybe not so different but a lot different, can you imagine that of all the personal Biafra can offer, it was Joe Achuzie that was almost the most popular soldier, men like Nzeogwu, Ifeajuna was never listened to first is to understand that you can't win in conventional warfare irrespective of the propaganda and then think and act like someone who is fighting a way bigger enemy Ojukwu was just unreasonably stubborn and didnt carry others along, Zik was not with him irrespective of how we view Zik, he was still the most powerful Igbo man as at then, Nzeogwu not with him, Ifeajuna was not with him, only unrealistic imaginary like Chinua Achebe and that Radio Biafra presenter and a lot other sycophants. So yes, secession was timidly declared and then you won't let even those who are willing to fight fight, that was what happened. |

AlexBells:Nzeogwu couldn't have done magic without enough weaponry at his disposal which was lacking throughout the war.Nzeogwu himself succumbed to Nigeria superior firepower in battle field and importantly he couldn't have led a war of secession he never believed in. Ojukwu sidelined those who adviced him or opposed his secessionist ambitions and the danger it will bring upon Igbo nation it is also happening today with more dangerous group that call themselves IPOB. Ojukwu and his military couldn't have win the war with little or no weapons nor matter how great their tactics were. You are sending young boys to the battle field with dane guns and some without a gun at all you expect to win against those who had excess weapons at their disposal?Biafra lost the war not for lack of military tactics but lack of weapons to execute whatever tactics they had. |
| Re: If There Is Any Past Nigerian I Would Go On A Long Bus Trip With, It Nzeogwu by AlexBells(op): 1:04pm On Dec 19, 2021 |
paramakina202:First Nzeogwu and others adviced against the war, just like today, if irrespective of how I'm against war as an object of secession, if the war eventually comes, I have no option than to fight else, Either I live the country, travel to the North where I would feel safer by blending with my friends up North or leave the country entirely. Remember that Ojukwu had banned the war game and deprived Nzeogwu of every command, we first lost when Ojukwu sidelined everyone, remember that Ifeajuna was an international sensation, Ojukwu didn't have much connection in the army and an Nzeogwu command could have doused the war perhaps if the North decided to fight, Nzeogwu could have broken Western loyalties if he was influential during the war and he could have kept negotiating, in fact Nzeogwu indirectly could have looked away from Gowon But the fact is that Nzeogwu was not someone that would stay out of a war, if he had a full command and he would sit in the office in Enugu and directing affairs, he could not have directly been involved in the field and with people like Ifeajuna also, they could have advanced towards the North instead of Westward they could have occupied some part of middle belt which I keep stressing Kogi and Benue, Ojukwu was not prepared, |

AlexBells:They will advance towards the North with mkpuru amu ha okwaya? Nzeogwu died too early in the war to have make any meaninful contribution and the rest in history. Everything is now history and may we not repeat the mistakes of the past and may we not be deceived again by smooth talking orators but unfortunately our people are still dying based those lies today. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?ref=search&v=1052975485271204&external_log_id=485d4fef-b557-4933-9500-543f280c6255&q=channels%20television |

A lot of Nigerians dont know what caused the war, who can blame them? Nigerian history is not taught. The reason they dont teach Nigerian history is because it would expose the fact that "one Nigeria" is one big fraud Three things happened in quick succession that led to war, Aburi - declaring Biafra - war The coup, counter-coup, pogrom and the emergence of Gowon all led to a national crisis. To resolve that crisis, the military leaders met in Aburi, Ghana. They agreed on 12 points that turned Nigeria into a confederation of 4 Regions. They all signed the agreement, including Gowon and Ojukwu. One of the most important things agreed at Aburi was that if Gowon wanted to change the structural arrangement of Nigeria, he could only do so if all 4 Military Governors of the 4 Regions agreed to the change When they returned to Nigeria, without consulting anybody, Gowon unilaterally changed the structure of Nigeria by abolishing the 4 Regions, and replacing them with 12 states. A well calculated move by Gowon and his Northern cohorts to dominate Nigeria. The Aburi agreement stopped the North from getting that which they wanted the most, political and economic control of Nigeria With the agreement broken, Ojukwu had two choices. Stay in Nigeria and accept the will of the North, or go for independence and fight for freedom What did anyone think Ojukwu and his people were going to do? Bow down and become slaves of the North like the rest of Nigeria, without a fight? No way! There is no way we Igbos were going to go down without a fight! We took our independence and we fought for our freedom We lost and many died, but there can never be any shame for freedom is one of the most honorable things anyone, or any people can fight for Had Gowon kept to the Aburi agreement he signed, there would have been no Biafra and no war But because Gowon and his fellow Northerners had the inordinate ambition to enslave everybody, meant that someone was going to stand like and fight like a man, and we Igbos did |

paramakina202:Nzeogwu died to early end he could have lived if he was treated fair enough, give him unit and keep him in Enugu that's all that could have needed to be done, thankfully today the situation is being handled more carefully otherwise the events of the past few months us capable of leading us to a civil war that we are not prepared for, But thankfully, it been going fine, there are pockets of violence and killings here and there but so far it isn't a full blown war and we pray it don't escalate further, personally, these whole terribly equipped confrontation is quite dangerous. We learnt from yesterday, otherwise these things had gotten up to the point that there shall be list |

gidgiddy:I won't want to delve much into the long past to put out different options that could have been available rather than secession as these things whatever solutions we propose today won't change anything but similar reality is real today and the question is, is contrary ideas welcomed and would the feelings and choices of other respected? That's why we lost |

He should have presented himself to the Ibo officers to be “arrested” because they have decided his life, like they did other non Ibo leaders? Thank God you people were dealt with afterwards. The audacity of these revisionists! Why would anybody pity these nation with majority sociopaths? |

I like the way you ‘dissect and subjugate other people but only in your imaginations (we take over this, we kill that, we, we, we, ) be it Kogi, Benue, Midwest, etc, while in practical reality, Ibos have the least rights and political power in the country. I understand the trauma and perpetual insecurity that is causing this self delusion and grandiose and its effect on your minds. Please, keep it up. |

Nzeogwu a fine soldier-gentleman! He saw Nigeria for it was and what it will become and he took necessary actions! Even though I am yoruba, Nzeogwu did well He did nothing wrong! Those that should be blamed for the coup are leaders that were and are still corrupt till date! I have immense respect for Kaduna, we dont have such fine soldiers anymore! What a pity |

paramakina202:You need to reread your historical records. It is from an eyewitness not from internet news. The first wave of the pogroms in northern region of Nigeria happened in the presence of the drunkard called Ironsi. Ironsi's ineptitude as seasoned soldier emboldened the northern region elites to strike. |
