Was it not same thing I'm saying, that the match to Midwest and west was total waste of time, and I don't know where you are getting your info about Ojukwu abd Gowon agreeing to respect the Nuetral Midwest honestly I don't know where you got it from, the Biafran forces just decided to revert, they definitely would be out of suply but same wouldn't have been the case in a Northern match especially in Kogi and Benue these are pretty close to Igboland

They couldn't have reached Kaduna in the first 1 year and yes it could have been better to match North because a little beyond Nsukka is already Northern Region, the war could have raged in Kogi and Benue for the first one year if not for the most part of the war, both side have boundary there

Midwest could have remained Nuetral or even pro east, the issue with matching west is that there is a Nuetral region which you need to cross before reaching the enemies but if they matched Kaduna just an inch towards and you are in the North, the progress could have been slow but if we can't get to Kaduna they can't also get to Enugu and other Igbo heartland

Kogi and Benue could have suffered but it could have been better, yes if they continued a full match towards North they had enough weapons to hold the North away from Igbo heartland and once the Ogbunigwe would be in use much later, it could have been significant

1. He fought for Biafra despite being from Midwest then, you should have asked Col. Joe Achuzia before he died in 2018. He was the most successful Biafran commander during the war and he is from the same town (Okpanam) as Nzeogwu.

2. He did the coup, you should have asked Col. Nwobosi before he died in 2020. He was the leading commander that captured Akintola in the Coup and he also fought for Biafra.

Reading Chinua’s “there was a country,” one can see that the Biafrans were fightBig to hold territories. I think that was a wrong approach against a well armed “regular” Nigerian Army.

Biafrans fought like a national army because Biafra was a nation. In terms of armament, Nigeria did not fare better initially however it got international help from real military powers in the world.

The pogrom started with the fall of Ironsi not before that.Twice Ojukwu asked our people who managed to make it back home alive to go back to the North and they were killed he did nothing than to use it as an excuse to declare for secession which from all indications he wasn't prepared for.

Yes I read the letter, seems like you weren’t aware of the letter and Nzeogwu’s last recorded interview. What is your problem with the letter and why is it junk.

It is an excerpt from Obasanjo’s book titled Nzeogwu. I bet you didn’t know that Obasanjo is a renowned author and he wrote books. He was very good friends with Nzeogwu and wrote a book about him.

I also strongly believe that secession was wrong but saying that irrespective of the tactics deployed that the war couldn't have come out differently is also not accurate, first Ojukwu was not fit to lead the war but had anyone else like Nzeogwu led the war it could have been different,

They agreed on 12 points that turned Nigeria into a confederation of 4 Regions. They all signed the agreement, including Gowon and Ojukwu. One of the most important things agreed at Aburi was that if Gowon wanted to change the structural arrangement of Nigeria, he could only do so if all 4 Military Governors of the 4 Regions agreed to the change


When they returned to Nigeria, without consulting anybody, Gowon unilaterally changed the structure of Nigeria by abolishing the 4 Regions, and replacing them with 12 states. A well calculated move by Gowon and his Northern cohorts to dominate Nigeria. The Aburi agreement stopped the North from getting that which they wanted the most, political and economic control of Nigeria

With the agreement broken, Ojukwu had two choices. Stay in Nigeria and accept the will of the North, or go for independence and fight for freedom

What did anyone think Ojukwu and his people were going to do? Bow down and become slaves of the North like the rest of Nigeria, without a fight?

No way! There is no way we Igbos were going to go down without a fight! We took our independence and we fought for our freedom

We lost and many died, but there can never be any shame for freedom is one of the most honorable things anyone, or any people can fight for

Nzeogwu died to early end he could have lived if he was treated fair enough, give him unit and keep him in Enugu that's all that could have needed to be done, thankfully today the situation is being handled more carefully otherwise the events of the past few months us capable of leading us to a civil war that we are not prepared for,

Nzeogwu died to early end he could have lived if he was treated fair enough, give him unit and keep him in Enugu that's all that could have needed to be done, thankfully today the situation is being handled more carefully otherwise the events of the past few months us capable of leading us to a civil war that we are not prepared for,

You need to reread your historical records. It is from an eyewitness not from internet news. The first wave of the pogroms in northern region of Nigeria happened in the presence of the drunkard called Ironsi. Ironsi's ineptitude as seasoned soldier emboldened the northern region elites to strike.
