Enyimba, Al Ittihad Wait On CAF Over Enyinba’s ‘Inability’ To Honour Retun Leg by robosky02(op): 4:50pm On Dec 21, 2021
Enyimba, Al Ittihad wait on CAF over Aba club’s ‘inability’ to honour Benghazi clash

Enyimba’s hope of playing in the group stage of the Confederation Cup now hangs on African Football ruling body, CAF, who is expected to decide the fate of the Nigerian team in the competition.

Enyimba were expected to meet Al Ittihad of Libya in the second leg of the tie yesterday in Benghazi, but the Nigerian team did not make the game, pleading force majeur. But Al Ittihad, yesterday, performed the walk over the routine in Benghazi, claiming that Enyimba have lost interest in the match. And Enyimba has disputed that claim.

So, it is now left for CAF to decide Enyimba’s fate in this year’s competition.

The game against the Libyan side has been troubled by scheduling and venue issues with the first leg, earlier scheduled to hold in Tunisia, postponed when Enyimba were not allowed to enter the North African country through Morocco when they could not produce their COVID-19 certificates.

Enyimba duly hosted the second leg in Aba and won 2-0, but according to CAF, they were expected to play the second leg of the tie yesterday, which they could not honour due to logistics problems.

Now, the Libyans have started celebrating a walkover and qualification for the group stage of the competition, claiming that Enyimba has conceded the match to them.

This, Enyimba is disputing. In fact, the Aba team still believe that CAF will reschedule the game on neutral ground to give them time to make the necessary preparations.

The Guardian learnt that CAF’s disciplinary committee has scheduled a meeting via zoom to rule on whether to award the tie to Al Ittihad or reschedule the match to December 31 as requested by Enyimba.

Yesterday, Libyan Observer reported that Enyimba have chosen to withdraw from the game instead of playing the second leg yesterday at the Benina Martyrs Stadium in Benghazi.

Quoting Deputy Secretary-General of the Libyan Football Federation (LFF), Mohamed Qremida, the report said Enyimba had notified CAF that “it would not be able to play Sunday’s match, and thus Ittihad will qualify directly for the group stage, which draws will take place next week.”

The report said CAF, last Thursday, rejected Enyimba’s request to cancel the match, play it on another ground than Libya, or postpone it to a later date.

“Having rejected its request by CAF, Enyimba team sent another request to Ittihad to postpone the match to 31st of December, saying that 48 hours is not enough to arrange travelling procedures, including visas and airline tickets.

“However, Ittihad has also rejected the Nigerian request and said there would be no postponement of the match.”

North Africans are known for their off the field antics

But if amaju and the NFF don't rise to fight this due course

Hmmm it will be a shame, because Enyimba clearly were better and will beat them anywhere in the world

So they have resort to ojoro,

How do you inform a team to play a game in less than 48 hours? After ditching the first game

They wanted 31st of December meanwhile the draws is taking place on d 28th. What have dey been doing with THEIR rule book? Amaju and co wont do anything about it. Fifa is watching already.

So even CAF can't reschedule game in its federation properly, 48hrs notice to play a game and didn't considered the logistics and the distance for the trip..
Fail organisation who quick to give support to binial world cup because of money without thinking about the impact it will have on its own competition and its players at large.
I'll wait and see how they deal with qualifies for afcon/wordcup every two years.
Re: Enyimba, Al Ittihad Wait On CAF Over Enyinba’s ‘Inability’ To Honour Retun Leg by Timoleon(m):
In this trying period that the world is passing through, Enyimba decided to travel without following Covid 19 Protocols. They couldn’t provide certificates of clearance for their players. CAF tried for them in rescheduling the match. UEFA did not afford Tottenham any such luxury before ruling In favour of VitesseRennes.
Let Enyimba take their ‘L’ in peace.

I'm fed up of living but I'm scared of dying. I have given up and I can't do nothing to help my life. I have been evicted from my house and I have nowhere to go because I couldn't raise the 48,000 to renew the health.

I'm fed up because I have 2 kids that are finding the new reality unbearable and I decided to take them to my in-laws place pending when I will be able to get myself together and retrieve my luggage from the friends that managed to let me have it with them. I lost my Security Job at a government institution, they downsized and unfortunately I'm one of the victims.

I need help from conscientious parents on this platform to raise whatever little sum so I could be able to rent a room and hopefully work on getting a better job next year. Now I'm at your mercy, please help my condition in anyway you can. I will appreciate your gesture.. 070.683775.41

You know that the Nigerian team is at fault here. Enyimba will get kicked out of the tournament and they only have themselves to blame.

From the report, they wrote to CAF requesting for a neutral venue. Mind you, this match was scheduled a long time ago.. They had ample time to prepare all this diplomatic lobbying but, as typical Nigerians, they did not do that on time. Now, CAF response cam 48hrs to the match. And to tell yoi9u how foolish they were, they did not have a plan B by preparing visas for their players and officials until their mischievous plan got bursted. Just imagine. Well, I pray they get kicked out of the tournament so that it would serve as a deterrent to other Nigerian teams that continental games are not won via wururu method.
