You igbo are too foolish for your own good.
The derivation was share 50/50 before foolish Igbos orchestrated the coup in the 1966 the man pointed out. You foolish Igbos executed the coup so you can steal the wealth from thw cocoa n groundnut wealth from the West n North but here you are today acting a saint.

Some fool among you will quote me to argue it was not an igbo coup but Igbos were 99.8% of the coup plotter. I do not know if that makes it an Hausa Fulanis or Yoruba coup. Dead brain Igbos commenting like launatics all over SM.

Advocate500:
Thank God is coming from one of their elder ,so under Michael okpara ,the oil producing state was receiving 50% derivation? Under the one Nigeria they supported the killing of their neighbours because of the same oil they are made to enjoy only 13%.

But some people have been pushing a narrative that the igbos marginalised the oil producing state under the defunct old eastern region. So it's was actually the west that marginalised the midwest, we are learning, the truth will be made open one day and all this fairytales of igbos hating the people of niger delta will be led to rest with facts that will be glaring to all.

after the evil igbo coup of 1966,how come we did not maintain the 50% derivations? Since these evil igbos have not been in government for over 60years or should we continue to blame these evil igbos in order to make us feel better? You can make sense and drive your point without insult.

According to your deluded igbo logic if a man chose to loot your destiny not knowing he is doing himself, when caught you will hand over your destiny back to them instead of letting them know how foolish they are with adequate punishment ?!

Igbos need to admit your foolishness before trading blames. Nigeria had regional govt with all region progressing some lunatic tribe out of greed n foolishness try to cheat everyone with a coup.

You dead brain want justification, when will you foolish Igbos give Nigeria a justification for couping a democratically elected govt. In your foolishness you do not want to give a justification on that but you need one on why we are not back to regionalism.

Igbos have not been in govt for 60 years ?! while that is a lie, you do not know you need to correct the ills of the past by lining your fathers out on the street n instruct them to apologize for the evil they brought on Nigeria with the coup. Once that is done I will personally lead the fight for 50% derivative.

Gowon destroyed the 50% derivation. Do some research pls
This issue has been settled here. Who first ever tampered with the independence constitution that guaranteed that 50%? Definitely not Gowon.

Edwin Clark and his unfortunate generation have nothing to show for the Ijaw/Niger Delta alliance with the North since the First Republic.

It is the north that took 50% derivation down to 0% but it's Obasanjo that he can criticise. SMH
I never knew before Now that Azikiwe who went into the NPC-NCNC alliance in the First Republic was an Ijaw man. Thanks for this revelation.
You will make a lot of money if you look the way of fiction writing. Chai!

Clarke was a minister in several regimes from independence hence he has first hand knowledge of what he is talking about. He made it clear that it was under Obasanjo's military stint that derivation reduced to 0% and we all know Obasanjo to be a blind one-Nigerianist in the mould of Zik. What is it with you Igbos' love for Obasanjo and your attempt to always seek exoneration for him on his massive contribution to the Nigerian injustice and tragedy? I still don't get it.

Awolowo never supported the creation of Midwest!
Infact! Yorubas tried to stop Midwest referendum by telling Midwest minorities that the Igbos (Anioma) will dominate them in the new region with the help of their brothers in the Eastern region.
Stop talking nonsense.
Wrong! What Yorubas tried to use to discourage the relatively smaller Midwest tribes which Aniomas were e even part of was Benin domination.
Anioma domination was not even an issue. Go back and read the history of the Midwest Struggle all over again.
Re: Resource Control: Edwin Clark Tackles Obasanjo, Recalls Ugly Past by Deadlytruth(m):
nku5:
The Western region fought tooth and nail to stop the Midwest from leaving but were very eager to support the exit of minorities from the Eastern region. If not that Awolowo was in detention, the referendum would never have happened.
And Zik was himself eager to see the minorities in the West and North separated from them while he held tight to the minorities in his own Eastern Region. Looking through the log covering his eyes to remove the spec in the eyes of others. Zik was a shameless hypocrite. No wonder Ojukwu hated him onto his grave and even Ipob recently dispersed a symposium in Igbo land because they heard Zik was to be given a posthumous award of honour through it.

"...a shadowy organization called the Anti-Midwest State Movement was put forward by the Action Group. It asserted that Edos had more to fear from Igbo than Yoruba domination, and that creation of a Midwest region would expose Edos to Igbo domination.". http://edo-nation.net/nowao1.htm

Ndiigbo in Midwest were well looked after by Zik and co.
Notice in the Willink commission report for Western region, while Edos were cheated in the scholarship slots, Midwest Igbos were not.
Osadebey who was Zik staunch man and an Igbo union leader from Asaba, ensured the Midwest Igbos were never cheated.

As an intellectual, you are expected to always wear your thinking cap and read between the lines whenever you are reading any piece of write up. The theme of the narration in the Omoigui speech you just referenced is that the anti-Midwest creation group were all natives of the proposed Midwest Region who were still loyal members of the Action Group. Didn't you see where the likes of Olu of Warri and other indegenes were mentioned as the spearheaders of the group? Did you see any Yoruba figure mentioned among them? The group's membership was 100% Midwestern in composition and not a pan-entire Western Region thing else it wouldn't have been termed shadowy. Don't you even think it is ironical that the Aniomas who were themselves initially opposed to the Midwest creation from its earliest proposal times out of fear of Edo domination would possibly later become feared as the source of domination in the new Region where the Edoid would be an overwhelming majority over them?
Note where your own referenced story reads:

inspite of his stature as the earliest and most consistently committed advocate of the Midwest cause, H. Omo-Osagie would later concede the leadership of the Midwest State Movement to Dennis Osadebay, also known as the Gentleman Leader of the Opposition in exchange for support.

The bolded part, taken in the context of all other mentioned reluctance of the Aniomas to identify with the Movement right from Adam, should have made it clear to you that the Aniomas weren't initially in support of the Midwest creation agitation as they were enjoying the influence of Dennis Osadebe's position in the intact Western Region. So how could they have carried that over into the new Midwest Region where the Edos/Edoids were most likely to dominate power on account of the fact that they initiated and nurtured the movement throughout in addition to having far superior demography over the Aniomas? As revealed above, Aniomas only came to identify with the project after an Edo son magnanimously conceded pioneer leadership to their son Dennis Osadebe, and in their characteristic treachery, they paid Edos/Edoids back with backstabbing later in 1967.
That aside, my contention in my penultimate comment is that the anti-Midwestern narrative which emanated from the larger Yoruba nation spoke of Bini domination and that was the real one that mattered more in those circumstances, not the one from the natives of the Midwest themselves.
Even Aniomas too hinged their initial resistance to the Midwest creation on fears of Edo/Edoid domination and a kind of revival of the Old Benin Kingdom. Read your own referenced article over again but this time slowly and thoroughly.

Only a demented old man will write the bolded. Edwin Clark should be reminded that his village was in the Western Region and not the Eastern Region. If he has any grouse with the underdevelopement in his community, he should blame the appropriate Premier. Zik and Okpara for all we know did well in the Eastern region. Okpara's achievements are still standing till today. The industrial estate from P/H & Enugu are still standing. The Palm, Cocoa, Cashew & Rubber plantations in Ikwerre, Ogoja, Ohaji/Egbema, Yenagoa, Calabar, Umuahia, Okigwe, Ikom, etc are still standing. UNN and UNICAL are still standing till today.

The international trade centres in Onitsha and Aba are still standing. The independent power plant in Aba & Oji-River Enugu are still there. The Nkalagu cement and car processing plant in Emene. And a host of laudable achievements. Despite the civil war, the footprints of Zik and Okpara are still visible in the old eastern region.

The stupid propaganda spread by lazy our oyel groups is no longer attainable. Let them bring something to the table and not lazying around shouting Asawana and looking for free gifts from the eastern government all because oyel was found somewhere. Baboons in the village of Abakiliki and Ikom cannot be working their ass in farms and some group of person will want special treatment all thanks to oyel found somewhere in Oloibiri. Someone should remind me again whether it was only Oloibiri that oil and natural resources was found in the old east. Oloibiri was not even part of Ijawland then and some clown used Oloibiri as an excuse to pick up arms. Enugu despite the government using their coal, Ebonyi despite their Limestones and Port-Harcourt despite using the seaports didn't cry for special treatment.

Pointing out at section 140 of the 1960 Constitution, Chief Clerk insisted that natural resources found in regions, were controlled by the people of the regions in the country.

“As a former Military Head of State of Nigeria, 1976-1979, and later a democratically elected President of the country, 1999-2007, I am certain Your Excellency knows that the principle of derivation, has always been top on the agenda of our national discourse, before and after the country’s Independence.”

Clark said, Chief Obafemi Awolowo of the the Western region and Sir Ahmadu Bello of the Northern region were able to develop their regions above the Eastern region
as a result of the practice of the principle of derivation.

“The Eastern Region did not progress like the other two regions. From the benefits of the practice of derivation principle, the Western Region introduced free education, built universities, the first Television in Africa, among other economic and social infrastructure, including hiring at the time, an Israeli Company, Soleh Bole, to develop roads and other infrastructure.”

He pointed out that the derivative principle continued till the discovery of oil in commercial quantity at Oloibiri in 1956 which the then Prime Minister, Alhaji Tafawa Balewa, sent congratulatory message to the then Premier of the Eastern Region, Dr. Michael Okpara.
This was the point and moment the hatred of the Ndigbo came to full fledged.
