The summary of the issue is the supreme court judgement said the plaintiff should be be allocated 549 plot of land but the area of allocation is not specified , it can be anywhere within Lagos State .

Summary of it all is that the Supreme Court never gave an order for the Shangisha landlords to repossess the Magodo estate. It only asked the state government to reallocate lands to them.

BMathew:
The judgment only relates to allocation of 549 plots of land and not possession of any land.

End of discussion.... grin grin grin

So when you allocate a plot of land, you don't take possession of it?

Well another one is that did the judgment mention badagry and ibeju lekki resettlement schemes?

This is a clear case of trying to arm twist the judgment of the supreme court and interpreting her judgement to suit you. The apex court is infallible yet it decisions are final and can only be reviewed by itself after a certain period but also she can give a clear interpretation of same judgment abi initio.

Being economical with the truth will only create more problems for the present Interim landlords.

The landlords should go back to the supreme court to seek for interpretation of the delivered judgment asap.

If the man is not called now and begged to accept a more lucrative offer and the supreme court interprets the judgment in his favor, well the incumbent owners will have everything to loose and the rest will be history.

From what I have read so far on the judgment here as posted by the commissioner , badagry and ibeju lekki were not mentioned and moreso, plots were said to be reallocated to them in shangisha area on priority basis.

My opinion though

Lagos State government and Magodo landlords should simply enter into negotiation with the judgement creditors and resolve the matter amicably. The case has lingered for too long. They should all sit down and find a mutually beneficial solution.

Really?
Did you just open ya mouth!
Do the law say another plot outside the location or you think the Supreme Court Justices are not wise by their tendely judgement? God bless our Justices in our Courts!
The best approach is to appeal to the Judgement Creditors,to please and please,in the name of God,we beg' and the State should be seen to be all encompassing and the governor- as the Chief Law enforcer, should personally lead because this is serious on the people whose rights have been trampled upon by the then army rules of many years!
It's painful to those who bought the place genuinely too and those whose land might have been forcefully taken over then but since two wrongs can never make a right, the Governor as a father of the State, should call for Peace and Reconciliation and if possible, something tangible can be added to the New Plots Location to calm all nerves!
Let there be Peace in Lagos State!
God bless Lagos State - 'Center of Excellence'

Applause...love your input, it's so nice one.
But it's a serious case.
But want to you know that, Lag State government have to paint the verdict wrong before they summon for peaceful coexist, if not they (mobile) may feel the government is too cheap to upturn.

LASG is being mischievous. Judgment specifically said to allocate the landlords association, 549 plots in Magodo but LASG are offering them plots in faraway places like Badagry and Ibeju Lekki.

God go bless you - in the remaining days of this yr and yrs to come for this comment.

Exactly. The judgement was since 1993 o!. The only way they can compensate the landlords association appropriately is to give them the cash equivalent of 549 plots in Magodo at today's prices

549 plots x N75M which is about N42B shocked

Lol. A plot of land in Magodo is nothing short of 200m naira now.

Person dey fight government win? I thought they said all lands belongs to the government?

Only if the land was used for public cause, like govt schools, hospital, roads etc.

But you can't confiscate land from legal owners then sell/allocate same to private developers/owners

Not everyone values living close to the water. My parents are rich and have no interest living outside GRA Ikeja. I support the man, they should give them back their village land in magodo. LASG is just being wicked. Apart from shangisha being their ancestral abode, Magodo and Ibeju Lekki/badagry land are not of the same value.

This Moyisore guy in this one is not bright oooo.
How do you apply for an order for an interlocutory injuction against a judgement from the Supreme Court?
That's how they keep twisting laws...
The judgement is for the Shangisha Landlord Association to be allocated 549 plots of Lands at Magodo Phase 2... but the government disobeyed, now the plenty messy dramas.

When you take your time to read, you will understand better. Also, being able to read will save you the prayer point you created.

Summary of the post is that there is judgement given from Supreme Court during Military era where Lagos State government is to allocate land to the members of Magodo Landlord Associations who went to court. Part of these members accepted the offer from Lagos State but one Chief Adeyiga has proven stubborn despite offer for land in Badagry and even Ibeju Lekki.

The same Chief got an unknown injunction to evacuate residence at Magodo thereby manipulating the police to carry out his intentions.

Lagos State on the other hand wants to prosecute anybody found guilty after due investigation into what happened at Magodo.

Lagos State government is working in the interest of the residence of Magodo and also, in line with the supreme Court judgment. Please, always read it will do you good and save you prayer points.

These guys should just be compensated handsomely, they should forget lands in those obscure places. Ojora family got 3 billion from the state for their lands years back when they also got Judgment.

A wise man or woman will rather hold on to their landed property than accept cash. How much is 3 billion compared to the value of those lands today ? Inflation for don kill that 3 billion.

Chief Adeyiga and only a few of the other landlord association have refused the dispute settlement presented by the government . How many of the said plots are for the chief and others ? Government should allocate another land and build it for the affected magodo residents .

This can never hold. Magodo lands are expensive today because of the state govt's efforts at attracting well heeled people to the location and infrastructural investments.

Shangisha and Ketu are also affected by the value of Magodo due to their proximity, the spill over of value helped increase their value.

Without this govt attention, that area would be another Ketu. What kind of infrastructural investments / well paying land buyers can a relatively unknown Chief Adeyiga attract to boost the value of land the way LASG did??

That man should be careful, supreme court judgement or not, there are powerful people that risk loosing their homes that can comfortably fall him in that Magodo and nothing will happen.

You can't chase after land when you're dead.
