This can never hold. Magodo lands are expensive today because of the state govt's efforts at attracting well heeled people to the location and infrastructural investments.

Shangisha and Ketu are also affected by the value of Magodo due to their proximity, the spill over of value helped increase their value.

Without this govt attention, that area would be another Ketu. What kind of infrastructural investments / well paying land buyers can a relatively unknown Chief Adeyiga attract to boost the value of land the way LASG did??

That man should be careful, supreme court judgement or not, there are powerful people that risk loosing their homes that can comfortably fall him in that Magodo and nothing will happen.

You can't chase after land when you're dead.
You sound like buhari a dictator and a nepa certificate. Don't you know that his children will pursue the case if the chief is late? Oya go to African shrine and drive fela children out. If we must build a strong country, our laws and courts pronouncements must must be respected. Lasg should demolish the place and allocate to Landlords and compensate them. Some said land is between 75m to 200m, alternatively government should pay them the present value with abeg, no price is too much to compensate for injustice done to a citizen.

Court judgement only work and effective for the rich, lower class citizens will get verdict from courts, still it will be difficult for them to benefit from fruit of the judgement that favoured them.

Had it been Lagos State government happen to be favoured with supreme court judgement, they'll quickly invaded the place and demolish all houses in the territory, if the government is in situation of collection of 546 plots of land.

Even the state government oppressing its subjects.

Kai! This is very wicked oooooo, just imagine the tables were turned in this case, how LASG would have moved to demolish every structure there, even without a High Court's judgement.
No wonder Nigeria is still backwards, and will remain backward for a long time with these types of mentalities.
God forbids.

Settle or else you'll be settled. The Chief has been offered parcels of land in other areas but he's adamant it's Magodo he wants.

Intelligence and tact is required when dealing with an association of 580 landlords who's individual networth is roughly a minimum of $500k.

My goodness! I can't believe this response. It's been a while since I comment on Nairaland because I usually ignore many takes here due to tribalism and ignorant submission, but I can't just wrap my head around what you're trying to say here.

The judgment by the Apex court was clear that the families who were fraudulently, violently, and unjustly disposed of their ancestral lands and houses should be given in order of priority allocated or re-allocated, their preferred first choice of 549 plots of land in Shangisha. It stated it clearly that it should be the same Shangisha which is now known as Magodo.

If you want to settle them, you gave them plots in faraway Badagry, which is an insult to them, and in Ibeju Lekki. Some of them disagree and in response, you think threatening them is the answer because in your view the current occupants of Magodo are rich and the mighty of society. Is it because these families are not among the famous landowners in Lagos state? Or because they are "nobody" in the scheme of things in the state? Would they have done this to Ojora or the Idejo families of Lagos? I remember when Ojora families were settled for billions of Naria and other compensation on their already developed land in Apapa after they won a long battle at the Supreme court against the government.

If you want to know there was an injunction from the court in 1990s restraining Lagos State in allocating this contested land because it's being litigated in court. Why did the previous Lagos state government go-ahead to sell and allocate these lands?

Because the landowners wanted the allocated plots in their land they were beaten, mal-treated out of not another place, so they should be "off" (killed or shut away) right? Then they better kill all the families' generation. It's the same attitude against these families that led the Adeyiga family and others to insist on their land.

Why can't they negotiate and bring them to the table, and try to persuade them to monetize the judgment? At least the family's lawyer has said all options are on the table. And for the record, the families have no business with the so-called the mighty and the rich of society who reside on these lands. The current occupants should go and seek redress with the Lagos state government who awarded the land to them and granted them C of O and other documents on the land they were told to hold on until the matter is decided in court.

This current Lagos state government should just try to do the needful and make sure everyone is happy by using wisdom to bring everyone to an agreement or else, if these families should go back to the Supreme court to seek more clarification and redress, then it will be more brutal for the current occupant and LASG. All this "gra gra and bigmanism" would lead to nowhere.

When you take your time to read, you will understand better. Also, being able to read will save you the prayer point you created.

Summary of the post is that there is judgement given from Supreme Court during Military era where Lagos State government is to allocate land to the members of Magodo Landlord Associations who went to court. Part of these members accepted the offer from Lagos State but one Chief Adeyiga has proven stubborn despite offer for land in Badagry and even Ibeju Lekki.

The same Chief got an unknown injunction to evacuate residence at Magodo thereby manipulating the police to carry out his intentions.

Lagos State on the other hand wants to prosecute anybody found guilty after due investigation into what happened at Magodo.

Lagos State government is working in the interest of the residence of Magodo and also, in line with the supreme Court judgment. Please, always read it will do you good and save you prayer points.

Irresponsible people in power are irresponsible government officials .Allocate and Re-allocate 549 plots of land to the plaintiffs as ordered by the Apex court .The key word , first choice in allocation belongs to Chief Adeyiga and co , but evil men in power were offering lands in badagry and ibeju-lekki after using state powers to corner what is not theirs in the first place since the early eighties . That was how they drove scores away to shitta from their lagos island origin and many more from maroko in the name of lagos is slum .

You have a point but I don't think most of the Plots are still there again!

All I'm saying is be very careful when going against over 500 people that have access to resources..... especially when they weren't the defaulters.

Accept a settlement, the court order is your bargaining chip...... but rolling up unannounced with bulldozers will get you into big trouble that the supreme judge that passed the verdict will run when the gbege burst.

good question, Lagos State Government allocated /sold the land to the new owners after the main purpose of acquiring the land for Government use was abandoned.

Only if the land was used for public cause, like govt schools, hospital, roads etc.

But you can't confiscate land from legal owners then sell/allocate same to private developers/owners
Ok. Thanks for the explanation.

we should not forget the fact who owns the land owns what is on it . The affected magodo landlords can always take the state government that sold the land /properties to them with c of o to court for compensations , don't you think ?
