If you get a 15''' monitor with the 2nd one, go for it. It's like comparing Toyota products with Mazda's. There's what we call compatibility factor by which computer and computer components are rated for quality ,performance and durability . In this measurement, Intel is used as the standard unit , and all others are rated down away from it. The compatibility factor for AMD ( American Micro Devices) is 20%, means that if an AMD processor, for example, is rated to be of
1000 gigahertz, an Intel processor of 800 gigahertz would give exactly the same performance, and may cost less.

It's not an AMD processor, it's an Intel processor with AMD graphics card. Most AMD cards perform way better than Intel graphics card.

I don't like 14'' monitors. But I tell you, monitors don't add anything to the performance of a computer system, except the visual pleasure. Therefore, my choice is still the 2nd one.

An AMD graphics card is different from an AMD processor.
Both systems have an Intel quad core i5 processor but the first one is actually a more recent product with with a newer generation processor and dedicated graphics card from AMD
There there's a one is 84xx while the other is 85xx
There's also a reason one is described as a gaming laptop

I was wondering, cos I could see that the have Intel processor, which makes them Intel. In the light of this and because the 2nd one is dated, pick the 1st one ASAP. Don't seek for any further counsel, else you would be misled .

The first one.
The first one is basically an upgraded version of the second.

Well OP, it depends on what you want to use the laptop for.

If you are looking for a system that'd run basic tasks alone, the second one would do just fine.

But

If you want a system that'd handle more than just basic tasks alone, then the first one is your best choice.

Just like some folks here rightly pointed out, both are almost the same laptop, but the first is better than the second because of the dedicated graphics card.

Word of advice. If you are getting the first one & you intend using it for either graphics related tasks or for light gaming, do get a cooling pad, else, be ready to change the processor once every 6 months or less.
