Jodera:At a point, i was like maybe na Covid catch them and na team B Midfielders dey pitch. I doubt Pep had much up his sleeves cos seeing Gundo come on felt like he wanted to simply push more men forward than break anything down. I think the fact that they fought this well is the consolation from this game. Personally, i don't like that barking positioning from the touchline that Arteta does. I hope they see it and tell him. He had better notice too. Cos he barked all thru for that 5-0 we chop for the Etihad. The EFL match on Thursday is going to be without Arteta too, so i hope the boys do the needful. |

daveP:Lol.. Pep was confused, he didn't know what to do than just hope his players improve the passes right. I mean man city at a certain time was budeying the ball and pep just sat there motionless. Lol He even put gundo after the red card in order to see out a win I also hate that constant barking from Arteta especially in big games. One or two talk is fine, then allow them do their things. I loved as the assistant coach did. Shout once in a while but let it don't be constant. |

If we don't qualify for UCL this term We might lose saka, foden and greenwood ain't playing better than him to be in UCL, those boys can't be working their ass off and one useless mofo that have shown to be our bad luck since he is here to spoil all their work. We either ditch the fool or lose our youngsters |

daveP:The assistant coach was barking from the touchline too. It's normal. Just that they shouldn't overdo it. |

Barryseal:It's a basic rule in defending, never pull. Xhaka should know this especially when inside the box. Do anything but never pull. Man City fouled us many times but got few cards because they know how to foul. They may push or tackle but they won't pull shirt or arm. I don't know how an experience player like Xhaka wouldn't know this. |

| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Barryseal: 5:07pm On Jan 01, 2022 |
Spy360:Sure never pull a shirt of an opponent in trying to stop his progress in the air or through on goal. Silva in this case was on his way down. The shirt pull didn't impeed his progress. If anything I think Xhaka was trolling him not to go down by holding his shirt. Rodri didn't even get a foul called against him when he clattered dangerously into Martinelli. The VAR didn't call the ref to re-watch the Odegard penalty shout. I think the VAR official was assisting as the linesman when this happened I don't know but this game was just a mess. |

Anyway, despite this loss, I smell something cooking nice with this Arsenal team. Sometimes you need heartbreaks to grow up. This result will linger in the young players minds and they will be have vengeance on their hearts to do well. The job of the manager now will be to guide the boys and steer their energy towards positive growth. I see this team having a rebound and going on a strong run in the coming games. City know they were bested for large periods of the match. |

daveP:U people and this ant-Arteta agenda no go ever rest ? Even when we dey do well ? Arteta was obviously coaching remotely today by passing instructions to the one of his assistants on earbuds ( the Custer guy). That guy u see standing on the touchline only passed the instructions of Arteta to the players , not like he was using his own playbook or something . Arsenal playing well today had nothing to do with Arteta not being live on the touchline . When we were pushing attack scoring 5-0’s , trashing Spurs in the derby , etc was it not the same Arteta that was Arsenal’s coach ? There’s nothing wrong in blaming a coach when he makes tactical errors or loses matches he ought to win, but still trying to find a way to malign him when he’s getting it right just doesn’t sit well with me at all. |

BlueRayDick:Hmmm The Arteta we know will play haram football by letting city play, you don't have a proof today's match was Arteta doing Until then let's give our airpod coach kudos |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by BlueRayDick: 5:31pm On Jan 01, 2022 |
iamoyindamola:I really do not understand u . The match I watched the camera showed two assistants , one was on earbuds penning down instructions from Arteta ( the commentator actually pointed this out ) , while the one on the touchline was carrying out this instructions . Are u really saying this did not play out today ? Wetin we use korokoro eyes see.... By the way Arsenal has been playing more attacking football in recent times , so u talk about haram football do not apply here . |

The referee was a disgrace in this match. I mean, the idiot waved Bernado to get up initially because it was an obvious dive from the swimmer and the Xhaka contact was when the swimmer was on his dive down! It was extremely disappointing to see such officiating despite the VAR review. How Odegaard did not get that PK is beyond diabolic. He made contact with the ball first before Ederson redirected the motion of the ball. The first yellow card to Gabriel was shameful and the subsequent 2nd yellow was annoying. Like I said earlier, I am proud of this performance, we proved what I have always thought about this team and we deserved at least a point from the game. Una no go give Partey him shout out now, he has been putting in some of the best performances in the middle of the park, na when him get days una go show up ![]() |

Spy360:I will kidnap Salah/ Mane and burn down Anfield. Klopp has been eyeing Saka for a year now, making cryptic comments about him but I dey wait for am make him try am. We absolutely have to start showing some ambition that can reassure these young gooners to stay. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by iamoyindamola(m): 5:43pm On Jan 01, 2022 |
BlueRayDick:What I am saying is 2 assistants took the game to city, that's what I haven't seen Arteta do against Chelsea, lfc or city What ever or who ever they are communicating with you don't know what was discussed. The players played to their instructions not Arteta, btw they also trained the boys not Arteta this week. |

| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by BlueRayDick: 5:51pm On Jan 01, 2022 |
iamoyindamola:Lolz .... I actually know who they are talking to because the commentator on bein sports mentioned it specifically . It is u who is trying so hard to assume the assistant coaches took 100% charge of the match and didtched the instructions he’s passing to them remotely . It is well sha. Hoping we win as many matches as possible in the second half of the season irrespective of the coach being present live or working remotely . |

BlueRayDick:I actually need to see Arteta on the dugout with the boys playing like this against the top guns(abeg not manure or spuds) then maybe just maybe I might have a change of heart about him. |

Today’s match and Arsenal vs Man utd last season first leg were the two best performances I’ve seen from Partey. In fact I don’t know which of the two aforementioned matches were his best in an Arsenal Jersey . Partey’s performance felt like a parting gift to us before leaving for AFCON. I hope he comes back from AFCON injury free and fully fit to continue this great performance where he stopped . |

BlueRayDick:guy even when arteta stands at the touchline, three assistants are usually on earpods, two beside arteta on the bench and one on the stand. arteta made it clear that they are always on call all through the game. so seeing a guy on earpod doesn't mean he was with arteta on call, it might be the normal analysis routine call. and moreover the gaffer already said he trusted his assistants to carry out the job po well. so think wel before you spit out your opinion and present them as facts |

Incase anyone is still doubt how poor the officiating was today, Arsenal ONLY committed 11 fouls during the game and had 5 yellows and red. City 13 fouls 2 yellows in added time one for taking off shirt and one kicking the ball away. No yellow cards for their fouls. This can’t be right! If city and Guardiola had any honors, they will elect to replay this game. |

BlueRayDick:I hate when we base our arguement off someone else opinion and idealogy. the pundit abi comentator on bein sports saying they MIGHT be on to arteta doesn't mean they really were on call with him. i've seen that guy all season with the other guy on earpod all season long, abi na wenger dem de recieve info from come give arteta. i so much love the arsenal medias that i follow to get first hand info or else men like you would kill me with fake news |

| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by BlueRayDick: 6:24pm On Jan 01, 2022 |
germaphobe:The problem with people like is that with the little information u have , u just block out any other means of acquiring knowledge and go ahead claiming to know practically everything . Arteta stated it in an interview that he will be watching from home but also communicating with the coaching crew in the course of the game.(See below screenshot as proof) The bein sports commentator mentioned how Stuivenberg had to leave the job of monitoring play to take Arteta’s place , while Custer was in communication with the manager on the other end. What Arteta mentioned in the interview about allowing the coaching crew to do their thing and monitor the momentum of the game to implement decisions ( being that they are live in the stadium and can see things for themselves real time) was exactly what happened in the game. Assuming Arteta wasn’t passing instruction to them and the coaching crew were doing their thing strictly their way is actually laughable . Even when coaches are sent off or on suspension they still pass across their instructions from the dressing room. I will just ignore ur diatribe about fake news peddling blah blah .
