NaijirianKing:
The fact is that the North is looking for fairness and balance. The NC has been left out in the cold, and rather than doubling down, the North has decided to make the NC the flagbearer, this is fair.

The southern unity is based on a farce that other parts of the south are not falling for. the SE is yet to produce a president or even a VP, and yet the SW is pushing southern unity to bring about a SW candidate and yet you are criticizing the North for pushing for a NC presidential candidate?

Where does the deception end and truth begin? People are wiser now, the North is offering the NC the Presidency and the SE the VP, who has a better deal for either zones? The SW wants the presidency at the expense of the south and that will lead to failure.

Politics is not about sentiments but offering people what is in their interest. It is not in the interest of the SE/SS for the SW to once again have the presidency after voting against the SS and trying to move in front of the SE to have the presidency twice before that region has it once. If the SW was truly for unity of the south they would line up behind the SE and push a southern candidate.

The North may be behind in certain areas, but the North understands politics and how the game is played. NC Presidency and SE VP is the winning ticket. The SW is politically on an island, not embraced by the greater south and positioning themselves against the North. You see where that will leave you.

Enough talk.

At the end of the day we are all playing to the gallery..

What has such scramblings ever brought to the people of the region?

What special thing has Buhari brought to the North West?

What special thing did Jonathan bring to the South South?

And what about Yoruba land? What benefit did they get from the Obasanjo presidency?

We are just looking for unnecessary and inconsequential bragging right.

I am not from the South East,
But IMO for 2023, anything other than a SE Presidency remains a grave injustice.

PDP is prepared to offer the NC/NE the presidency, 2 regions that have never held such a position. I personally think the NC should be given the ticket for national unity, however the internal workings will reveal how things go as time moves forward. Moreover, the SE will be given the VP ticket, this is true inclusion. What is the better offer for the SE or NC/NE? The answer is nothing.

APC wants to give a region that will have 16 years as President/VP the ticket again before others in the south. This will spell doom for APC as NW/NE/NC + SE/SS equals victory. The SW is politically isolated. The only way to beat the North is for APC to offer the ticket to the NC/NE before PDP does.

Politics is about uniting interests of various parties, not selfish ambition of party members.

You understand the game plan. Imagine another SW 8yrs, then power returns to North for 8yrs ie 16yrs before SE have a chance for a shot. A NC/NE Presidency come 2023 is a better route for SE, as after their 8yrs, they will support SE for a shot.

Let SS and SE play the game too.

They SW politicians know this, that's why they are pushing for both parties to give ticket to South, so they can have an easy win. No way. PDP should play smart politics this time. I trust Wike and other top PDP politicians.

They used same strategy to win in 2015, PDP can play same now

Southern people were perennial thieves and consistent failure at aso rock as presidents.
They go there only to steal money.

Why should we elect another thief.
A northern christian man is a way to break from the past.

While SW Governors under southern Governors forum are canvassing for rotation and return of Presidency to South, they are selfishly not considering same rotation in the south, having had a shot under OBJ and now VP Osibanjo, they are projecting Tinubu another SWener not minding that they ganged with North to remove a SS brother from Power. That's hypocrisy, greed and wickedness

If Southern Governors are not micro-zoning to either SS or SE, let North remain with power.

Rather than SW, let it remain in the North. Until they understand equity

Lol it's the sophistication of the Yorubas that made them achieve that. They have major stake in both parties then and didn't see anyone as "evil, Hausa, or Igbo" party. That is sophistication we are talking about. Make the SE do am if e easy. cheesy
What we see the Igbos doing now is blaming Yorubas and Tinubu for all their misfortunes, expecting APC to drop presidency on their laps and whining that they prefer a northern candidate to a Yoruba man when both parties have not even conducted primaries lol...

Una no sabi politics sha. Just driven by negative emotions. grin

As you yorubas sabi politics pass everybody why una come dey find who go help una collect presidency from North through 'southern unity' rubbish? grin
Why you no fit face North one-on-one collect presidency? grin

Maybe you're being truthful. But the comment above doesn't seem like one coming from a person with such comfortably life ranking,

I only hope you have not singled out Tinubu but have taken time out to insult the likes of Atiku and Wike like that cus they also have our common wealth in our possession.
I didn't mention a name, How did you know I was referring to Tinubu?

If power does not shift to the South in 2023 after 8 years of the North, the PDP should be blamed entirely.

The body language of APC shows that they are very open to rotating power to the South after 8 years of Northern rule.

But the PDP are putting "grabbing power at all costs" over fairness and equity.

To them it is more important for them to win the election than for power to rotate in Nigeria.
Even if a candidate from Cameroon will make them win the election they will go for it.

If you’re talking you f fairness and equity, don’t you think it should go to the SE, seeing that the SW just completed 8 years as vp and 8 years as P.

This is exactly what the Fulani north wants. You see the Feudal North worst nightmare is when southerners unite and vote a presidential candidate, with the support of Christian North Central states, NO HAUSA MAN will ever rule this country. The last time this happened was in 2011, we all saw the North's schizophrenic reaction; boko haram; bomb blast e.t.c.
This is exactly the reason they're always hell bent on dividing southerners. They divide us and keep ruling us.

It is the South that divides itself with greediness and betrayal. How can a section who has had her shot at the presidency be aiming to have again at the cost of another whose turn it is? How does one want to ask the north for fairness and equity when he is not fair with his immediate neighbour? The South will reap what it has sowed which is greediness and betrayal.

I think the south is just waking up to political realities.

I actually applaud the Igbo. Rather than making noise up and down about how they are entitled to this or that, they realized they must start with baby steps.

First show devotion to the country by having a regional ally (The North) and first get the VP. From there Nigerians may get over our collective phobia of them in power.

The SE has nothing to gain from SW presidency as the VP will most certainly be NC/NE. So it makes sense for them to support a situation where they get the VP.

An unexpectedly calculated move from that region.

You just filled the whole thread with your balderdash. grin

Then play the same game, there will be two Igbos on both major tickets, vote the one that is not Igbo's preferred candidate. Are you no longer the 'sophisticated' yoruba? grin

In 99" yoruba had a party which is AD they fielded a yoruba man IBO's and north had theirs (PDP) they fielded their trusted ally obasanjo and the most popular candidate won, presently yoruba/north have a party (APC) they've resolve to field a yoruba man, ibos/north have theirs as well (PDP) if any IBO man is serious to become president in 2023 they should get the ticket of their party (PDP) and let the best candidate win,IBO's has no right to request for the ticket a party (APC) which is not theirs.
