Also comparing Taiwans economy to that of china is like you comparing apples to oranges. China's population is over 1.2 billion while Taiwan is home to just about 23 million people. Without a doubt the chinese economy is bigger, richer and more divesified but Taiwan's GDP per capita (PPP) is almost 3 times that of china. That means the living standard of the average Taiwanese is way better than that of the chinese.

i have been to philippines. the ppl there are short, podgy, dark, with a chubby face that laughs a lot in a carefree way. those islanders are at tropic zone, affluent with food . they are not destitutely poor. they are a satiaified and happy bunch.
