Jesus' first century disciples never set anytime for going without food!
The problem they were facing is self-explanatory. Jesus' food is preaching and teaching throughout his neighbourhood {John 4:34} that's the only thing that makes him happy after he was anointed with God's Holy Spirit! Matthew 3:17
So since the first disciples had the same experience with God's Holy Spirit the one and only thing that makes them happy is freeness of speech in order to keep preaching and teaching what Jesus taught them. Act 1:8
But their rulers declared believers in Jesus criminals {John 9:22 compare to Act 4:18; 5:28} making it difficult for the Christians to do what is paramount in their mind: Preaching and Teaching about Jesus.
That's what took away their appetite not that they just don't want to eat food!
Go and preach your fasting to sane individuals try to convince them to go without food simply because they are worshiping your God!
