Good evening everyone. I am scared right now. My wife is 41 weeks pregnant with our 2nd child but we went for ante natal today only to be told that her OS is closed. But according to the doctor, everything is fine with her and the baby. I'm beginning to get scared.
Please, what does it mean when OS closed?

Note:our first child is 1year and 2months old and we had him at 41weeks without wahala

It means her cervix is still closed, and no sign of labour yet.
I'm not sure but I think they usually do a membrane sweep, an induction, or something.
Ask the doctor because your baby should not go beyond 42 weeks in there.

It means your baby isn't ready to come yet.I'm sure your doctor told you/wife to come back after a few days.
If your wife doesn't fall into labour after a few days, she may have to be induced.

If he's dumb enough to rely on your social media advice here over that of his licensed medical doctor who has been in charge of his wife's antenatal care from day 1 then he deserves whatever he gets.

They usually say delivery is 40 weeks +or - 2 weeks.
Meaning Baby can come from 38 weeks to 42 weeks from last Menses. All perfectly normal.
However, they would usually bring her in 3 days before the day pregnancy clocks 42 weeks to start induction by whichever method preferred. This is so baby can come out before 42 weeks. Research has shown that the placenta deteriorates after this date so nobody wants a gbanjo placenta for a precious baby.
Keep your baby bags packed. Invite the inlaw. It's going down soon. Congratulations in advance.

41 weeks isn't too early na. Full term is 40 weeks but I guess how decisions on induction are made varies.
