It gladdens my heart that the Generation-Z are becoming more interested in politics and using the social media to amplify their voices but breaks my heart to see a beautiful piece of natural African art like Tacha almost cry while clamouring for environmental protection and long-term health security.

Let's face it, these activists should do more than just joining online trends and protests but also research on the root causes of most of these matters.

I'm surprised that residents of Rivers State are just complaining about soot in the atmosphere. Few years ago, my oil and gas law Professor had informed me that buckets placed outside are always filled with Black water during the first rain of the year in the State. This started far back in the 90s.

Soot in the atmosphere is a consequence of oil bunkering activities in the creeks of the Niger Delta. Oil bunkerers in the region have a cache of weapons enough to cause civil unrest or subdue government forces in the enclave. It is only on paper that the Nigerian Army fights them. In real life men of the Nigerian Army chill with them in the Creeks, help them "burn the fuel" and share profits with them. The petrol you just bought for your car today is likely mixed with illegally refined premium motor spirit from the Niger Delta creeks.

Do the Generals, Governor or President not know about these activities? They know about these activities but understand the collateral damage putting a complete stop to bunkering will cause in the Niger Delta. Kidnapping, robbery and violent crimes will increase geometrically because those who make so much money from illegality cannot take up average jobs. It will specifically disrupt the oil dependent economy of Nigeria because oil exploration is done in their neighbourhood. They can wake up and throw as many bombs as possible to destroy oil mining facilities.

The best strategy would be for the government to help them set-up modular refineries but this is not feasible because of the cost. An average standard modular refinery costs $250 million US Dollars (103 billion naira). It will cost $2.5 billion us dollars to set up 10 of those refineries. Ten of those refineries will not even be enough for more than 100 major bunkering gangs in the region.

The world is moving towards cleaner sources of energy. 5 decades from now Tacha's grand children will enjoy a cleaner atmosphere while their grandparents will be crippled with respiratory ailments.

Wike is acting irresponsibly as regards this black soot issue.
Later they will call him "action" Governor, he prioritizes things that are not necessary and ignore necessities.
Every body has been complaining about this black soot in Rivers and I am very sure Wike must have heard or read about it yet he is doing nothing.

All he knows is how to act like a hooligan and lout.
When he is suppose to show his actions he won't be found.

Calling out a Governor who has failed in his responsibility to prioritize the well being of his subjects is not clouting.

The guys who "cook fuel" understand the negative effect on their respiratory health, skin health and even fertility.

1 kilometer away from an illegal refinery one can be sure that they're approaching a refinery. The heat can be felt 200 metres from the premises of the illegal refinery. Inside the premises, the workers "cooking the fuel" usually go completely naked so that their clothes do not catch fire. Apart from tools, they go in with machine guns and bulletproof amulets. From time to time, soldiers walk into the premises for routine check.

In my two decade of living in this world, I have never seen an oil bunkerer who is light-skinned. If you were light-skinned, you will become dark after 1 week in an illegal refinery. You can't use bleaching creams in such factories because your skin will not be thick enough to resist the heat.

Any health hazard faced by anybody in Port Harcourt is felt 100 times more by the boys working in the illegal refineries.

So you see, the boys burning the fuel understand the damage bunkering does to their health and do not care, will they now care about the health of others they don't know ?

4. If the soot too worry you, relocate. This is the new reality of the state and will only get worse, never better. By the next administration the average temperature of Rivers State will rise by more than four degrees and air purity will drop drastically.

But wike has been shouting since about this bunkery issue, it's mostly northern soldiers that are sent by FG to guard fuel pipes against militant boys that carry out this crime, since they're hausas they're automatically super human
