Implications Of Tinubu's Declaration by JaroMan(op): 10:28am On Jan 11, 2022
These are possible implications of Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu declaration
1. VP Yomi Osibanjo popularity will drop. The Yorubas have a way of recognizing seniority. For instance, an apprentice tailor will always be loyal to her madam, even after the apprentice is free.
So Osibanjo will softpeddal because he won't like head on collision with his master Tinubu.
2. Every other presidential hopeful from South will be second base. It will appear SW have put their eggs in one basket.
3. SOUTH EAST will continue to consult seriously because what they thought will happen, like Jagaban back SE has failed. Some of them will come out of their shells, especially in APC
4. Northerners in PDP will start declarations because they have seen South won't be United in the ruling party. So their target now will be aggrieved South in APC.
5. The convention won't hold next month as projected. The party hierarchy wants to frustrate Tinubu and the die is caste.

1. Politics is about interest and osinbajo won't back down after getting so close

He has Yoruba supporters who feels they can get closer to power through him than tinubu

2. You don't know convention decision on zoning so you can't conclude cos it can be open like pdp, an orji kalu etc won't step down for tilumbu

3. South east vote is pdp except maybe the candidate buhari is going to give apc turns out to be ameachi or a south south person

4. North is one, if they want to support atiku irrespective of party they would, if they want to go with buhari choice they would

They don't need aggrieved people, they just allign with one train

5. Of course, for tinubu to visit buhari and apc that it didn't visit is issuing press release to demean him

It simply means the presidency and apc are one and the same and so don't expect any different thing from tolling buhari line who already has a candidate

Tinubu simply played a fast one on Osinbajo, Jonathan and others eyeing the APC ticket. Going to Aso Rock to make the public declaration is a way of sending a very strong message to others that they will have him to contend with if they decide to contest. Now, the rest have to play catch up with him.

Jonathan for example will now have to reassess his position. Is he willing to go into an head to head collision with Tinubu for the APC ticket based on the support of two or three Northern governors?

Osinbajo also has a very difficult decision to make. Is he willing to fight for the ticket against his former boss and benefactor? If he decides to fight for the ticket, can he win without the backing of the Tinubu structure he initially planned to rely on?

We are waiting and watching for things to start unfolding.

NaijirianKing:
Power will either go to the NC or most likely the NE. The North will support a Northerner, and the "south" is too politically fragmented.

Since PDP is choosing a Northerner and a SS/SE VP candidate, it would be better for APC to likewise field a Northerner in order to stand a chance of winning.

The reality is that a SW Muslim, with a Christian Northerner is not an ideal combination going by political realities presently on ground. It's a very tall order to expect Northerners to leave a Northerner to vote a southerner, especially one who will have a Northern christian, Northern christians have very little elective value when it comes to the core North.

Supporting an El Rufai presidential campaign would be a better bet, maybe pair him with a southern christian, and then that combination would have political leverage to defeat the PDP. If APC fields someone from the SW, that would implicitly mean that the SS and SE would essentially be in PDP's ambit as they have more to gain under a Northern President, than a southern president. The VP position comes to mind.

The SW should really look to throw their weight behind the North in order to be a part of the center.

Thank you for this. Some of your team mates are seeing the post as anti Tinubu.
On GEJ, I don't think there's truth in the rumour. His camp might be itching to be noticed, but the man himself is not buying it. If his opinion is sought, he's going with East.
You're correct on Osibanjo. But you can never say never.
One hour they say it too much a time in politics.

What do you mean by "he's going with the East"? Where exactly is the East going? And why do you Igbos think you can always speak for the SS?

Make you guys no create different camp within the region before the 2023 general election.

Whether Tinubu or Osinbajo, I believe both are competent enough to lead this country.

The debate about who is better than another is unnecessary

GEJ opinion about where power should swing to has to be East.
And who told you East speaks for SS? Does GEJ speak for SS?

Dude, how old are you? The same GEJ that is lobbying for APC ticket is the same person you're claiming is advocating for power shift to the East. Since you are very sure of GEJ's 2023 opinion, can you tell us who he is supporting from the SE?
