The ThIng about repentance is that Jesus says go and sin no more.

Someone who repeatedly sins hasnt really repented

Plus human history is filled with examples of people who learned from other sinners sin and the effects and did things like pass and enforce standards.

If the government isn't going to enforce its rules and punish the guilty then more will suffer. Blame goes on the sinner. Not something God likes, people not getting the point of forgiveness

That's why we should take an active part in governance.

Yes, if you read my previous posts, you would see that I hammer on citizens doing the utmost.(which has led to me being labelled a government boy...which i am not).

Plus, that is what the principle of repentance for Christians is, to make us better people and by extension better citizens. You can only be a good citizen if it comes from the heart, which repentance in the Christian tradition/sense of it is supposed to bring about. It also is (ie repentance) supposed to bring about Christians 1) exposing evil 2) not taking part in evil 3) upholding standards and regulations.

And good citizens make good government since the government comes from the people.

Well, let's say that God saved people from this collapsed building.

Theists often implore me to seek God. If I do, they assure me I will find him. But I already know they are right.

When the ancient Greeks sought God they found Zeus and Aphrodite, the ancient Iranians found Ahura Mazda, Hindus today find Vishnu, Brahma plus a host of other gods, Muslims find Allah and Christians find Jesus and Yahweh. Humans have found many thousands of gods over millennia.

Finding gods is not the problem--humans are very proficient at it. The gods do not even have to exist yet humans can still find them. The problem for humans is not finding gods, it is demonstrating that their gods are real.

That is something that has never been accomplished.
