We were doing this commando driving like yours, we got to a spot and we were side by side and about to overtake a car in front. Dude thought he could chance me and go first. We ended up going together while the car in front ran into the bush. We brush sides and parked in front to say sorry to each other. Our both cars only needed a paint job. We are both young men so it was easy to settle. I just imagined if it was an old man, we would have argued till Jesus comes. Meanwhile, the man we pushed to the side of the road took some time to regain himself, before he could come down to confront us, we were both back in our cars. Racing continued until we got to Akure. Lol
He eventually won the race but he had some help. I was already panicked from the incident so I became careful but he didn't care. I have a wife at home. Lol

Yes you possibly can but don't forget anything out of your control could go wrong, maybe with your tyres or something.
At 170km/hr you'd have no chance.

No one is talking comparison here. You can drive a Ferrari and get leapfrogged by a person driving a corolla if you are not in the mood, your car is not in the mood, your car has underlying conditions, you're not a good driver or you're not familiar with the road.
Winning a race goes beyond just driving a supercar. So don't start an argument that won't hold water. Plus I don't drive a zdx, I drive a TL, there is a huge difference between both.

Bro, it seems you are permanently stationed to the southern part of Nigeria...

Even on kubwa express way and airport road(both in Abuja) you can run 170kmh conveniently at night but not for a long stretch especially on the latter.

Now to far north, Jigawa, Gombe, Bauchi, Kano,Yobe and so on that I have been to, there are quite some good roads you can run at 200kmh easily for a long stretch, that you might even have to caution yourself....

Especially that potiskun to damaturu , us way dey drive at less than 140 seem like the grannies on that stretch

Consequently, I had to engage in some mild commando style driving so I averaged a speed of about 140km/h. I didn't stay long behind any vehicle and always aimed to have a clear road ahead. Thankfully we were just 2 in the car and there wasn't much load in the trunk so the vehicle picked up nicely.

The drama happened shortly after Jere, road wasn't too good but not bad either. Mr Mercedes must have linked up from Jere and was headed towards Abuja as well coasting at about 110km/h using eye judgement. Based on comparative speed, I soon caught up behind them, honked for an opening as two cars were beside each other and made to leave them behind as I passed.

From my observation, the car was packed with about 5 men, windows all wound up with AC. Car definitely looked new as well. From Mr C-class behavior, I judged he wasn't too happy as I attempted to reeze past him. He tended to pick up speed once I found an opening but a pothole in front forced him to slow down. Fortunately my left side of the road was clear with a much smaller ditch which I cleared with ease (thanks to wide tyres) as made up the hill as it was kind of a valley section. Mr C-class as I'll like to refer to him from now on, made to catch up with me thereafter but I guess the load he was carrying and the fact that we were going uphill gave me an advantage. I noticed he was trying to catch up so I turned off Eco mode, switched off the AC and stomped the vehicle to about 160km/h leaving him behind fast.

Just a few kilometers ahead, the road became smooth and straight and I surged forward, overtaking other vehicles and gaining a good lead. By now, I didn't see Mr Benz again...or did I? Yes I did! Although he was merely a small dot, I noticed there was something different, he had started gaining momentum. Evidently he had joined the good patch of road.

This reminded me of an experience in 2017. I was driving a Toyota Hilux as well but the 2007 year. A stubborn white w202 started gaining on me from the rear on a smooth tarred road and no matter how hard I tried (I do a lot of spirited driving), this guy gradually reined himself in, caught up with me, overtook and gave me a wide gap till he was invisible. Seems I'm having a deja vu.

Well, I stormed up to about 170km/h but for where, Mr Mercedes had cleared all the cars between us and was right on my tail. He caught up and passed! I gaped at my speedometer as he overtook and saw that I was topping 180km/h but at the speed with which he overtook, this guy was nothing less than 210 -220km/h. He had cracked open his windows a bit, definitely AC is now off and his tailpipe was squirting water vapour like crazy. I was stumped man. Dude didn't stop until he had at least 10 cars between us. I jejely came back to 140km/h and carried my L with pride.

Truly, German cars deserve the respect.

The AC consumes more power. There are arguments that winding down the windows causes more drag as well. Turing off the AC and keeping windows up give some performance improvement although quite little.

At WOT, ac is cut off in newer cars that the ac systems have not been butchered. You do not need to turn it off manually. The ECU does that on its own.
