Opino please: What can cause walls to have crack after plastering. I noticed the crack on a portion close to the decking but it was just that section. Every other part of the building doesn't have any crack. Thank you Modified: pictures added now and we noticed a lot more places now.

debeey87: A picture of the said crack will help give a more accurate answer But here’s what I shared awhile ago on similar case Possible Causes: 1) Foundation "is the foundation done properly or better still if the right foundation type was used." 2) Ineffective bonding between the blocks and mortar 3) Plastering mix ratio Remedy Get a structural engineer to help you determine if the crack is a major or minor one. If the latter is the case, before plastering, he should re add mortar to those crack lines in other to create a better bond between the mortar and block wall Then nail chicken nets to that area before plastering as shown in the attached picture https://www.nairaland.com/2550211/general-topic-thread-to-discuss-anything/1480#92117814 2 Likes 1 Share

registerin:The activities of this poster, hslbroker2 and Mountmoriah should be looked into very well. Everyone is encouraged to do their due diligence and err on the side of caution when dealing with them. hslbroker was involved in frauds in the year 2020. He later deleted his account, lay low for sometime and created hslbroker2. hslbroker is now hyping and recommending himself for jobs using this handle. He was recently caught pasting internet pictures as his job. Let us be very careful in dealing with these folks please. 16 Likes |

debeey87:Likely due to the mix ratio. The defect is more of cosmetic, screed will get rid of it. Add more sharp sand to the plastering sand mix. I have very little knowledge, wait for responses from professionals. 2 Likes |

MrOkenwa: I had no plan to screed the walls initially. What other options to cover those cracks. We will use your cue for plastering the upstairs

How I learnt hard from a bad business review Actually the person that called me out was someone I actually considered a friend and this wasn't the first or the second job we will be handling for her and we delivered and she was pleased. She was actually a client who later became a very good internet friend. You know we crossed that Client-Interior Decorator slide on so many levels. And I actually considered her a very good friend. This woman by the name of Alade (not her real name) first contacted me 2017 and that she has a building at Ikorodu and she would love me to help with some of our services. But during Covid-19 pandemic was when she actually came through with a service for us to actually handle for her. She gave us a budget job to help handle the furnishing of her two bedroom house after Imota in Ikorodu at a village called Odo Olosa. Odo olosa is actually like another two hours drive from Ikorodu. Yes, that far but she told us Ikorodu but I am not complaining. She said it was a matter of urgency. And it was very important we came through. I saw it as a challenge I was willing to take on. And I am so glad we eventually delivered because it was a hard nut to crack even after our workshop was actually shut down by Local Government officials for bridging the Covid-19 Lock down rules and we had to transfer the services to another furniture company due to the urgency of the job. But they couldn't also deliver and even wasn't able to refund for reasons best know to them. We actually had to wait till the lock down was eased and we were given the permission to reopen. Our carpentry team continued where we stopped. Sounds easy, but a lot of heartbreaks and shouting went into this. But thank God we delivered eventually and we did at the perfect time. We paid almost 10% of the total cost on delivery/transportation then cos the location was another journey from Ikorodu. But hey, I am not complaining because it was another experience I learnt from. http://kemimulticolour..com/2022/01/how-i-learnt-hard-from-bad-review.html?m=1 |
