This doesn't include the geological survey. This was done separately. Some forego this aspect but it's recommended. The project is a micro estate cum retirement holiday home. The geological survey identified three spots on the site. This was handed to the borehole company and they settled for the site with the best yield.

If you are having water challenges, you may try this approach. It was successful. Please note that there are some sites in same location that the water table is a challenge, hence the need for a geological survey. There are sites in the same vicinity with no water.

I'm not recommending the company or speaking for them. All I'm saying is that the company just successfully concluded a borehole project without drama.

So if you want to adopt this approach, please do your independent due diligence. No money was sent remotely. Someone was on ground and the company's office was visited. Money only exchanged account when the company was on site.

I need help on quantity/size of iron rod to be used for casting concrete tank stand.

Also, how many bags of cement can be used for the casting the pillars, beam, set blocks to cover the side, and including plastering.

Note: Height is 18ft, the four sides and the top would be concrete cast like the one below, but all opening would be covered with 9'inches block so it can serve as generator house.

The majority still adopt the lottery - hit or miss approach to borehole drilling without geological survey. In places like Warri one can get away with not doing geological survey for 90% of the time but not in places like Enugu, Abeokuta, Ibadan. Hit or miss approach could be very costly in such situation.

In truth, there is a building tradition, or should I call it a culture in the South Eastern part of Nigeria. Its always a general belief among the people of every community that a man is still floating till he has an "Obi" (meaning a home). A man cannot truly be agreed to be a complete adult with achievement if he is still living in his family house.

So our young men struggle through their teens and young adulthood dreaming of the day they will pull out of their fathers compound to establish their own home, get married and then seek for other glory like more chieftancy titles or academic achievements. The average Igbo man will want to build for his immediate family, and if possible, build for his brothers and other relatives so they dont come to worry him in his own space with his immediate family.

In Igboland, you dont have an address, there is no way people can describe you if not by your "Obi". As soon as you stand up to make an impact in a public gathering, your words or performance will be compared to what you have on ground, you cannot stand up and seek for public office if we are not sure you're grounded. Grounded will mean you have a base, you have an address, we know where your house is, not your fathers house.

The bigger and more beautiful your base is, the more regard and acknowledgement you receive. You cannot build a smaller house, and claim you only want to save space, we build for our children and sometimes, our grand children. This makes for a big family, and the more family you have , the better.

There is also the culture of building maintenance. Most times, most people from the South East will come back and try to conform with the norms, by upgrading their houses. You see people removing their old roof to do the stone coated, removing the old Louvre window to do a casement or frameless, removing the doors or tiles to get more modern. Most Christmas holidays, people move from compound to compound to appreciate the changes made by their friends and brothers through building improvements. Sometimes its like a competition, people compete silently for the tallest house in the village, the most beautiful house, the biggest car parks or swimming pools, the best gardens etc.

Lastly, Igbos love helping people, we believe that by building houses, you are helping the local economy, buying from locals to keep them in profit, keeping youths busy and working for their money, and improving the looks of the community. I enjoy staying in the village, and many people come home to relax during the holidays. A good home in the village can help keep an old man healthy and happy. (Second picture is a tree house built by one of my younger brothers for his children in my village, but he has no tree yet )
