You have sleep on it bro.
There are ways to go about it which you would have done when he is still alive even at sick bed.

If u have is ATM and pin keep collecting d pension until government stops it ,if it is cheque book forge the signature perfectly and keep collecting d pension,if he is not working for government and he works for private visit the company and know the next thing, try to know his account balance if money is paid in monthly,if u no get is ATM or pin or cheque book,u will need a letter of administration to access the money in the bank
I have is ATM card and the sim he use to do transfer. I do receive 30k monthly. My other questions is how long will it takes for government to stop paying him since he is not alive again

Oga your dad has collected gratuity, if he was in active service you could have requested for death benefit, but now you might not get anything again even the pension, I don't work but I think that is how the system works
If it's PFA related there could be something to collect.

There is nothing he will do at the PFA without the LOA.. Thats the most important document

They must first get a Letter of Administration. It is the first requirement anyone will request becos that is what recognises them as legal custodians of the deceased entitlements. During processing of the LOA dey must provide proof of the beneficiary's death(Death Certificate, burial programme or poster) and even bring 2 people who will attest and stand as guarantors. They will also need his PFA and other entitlement details (bank accounts they can't access, investment portfolios etc). It is the court that will issue bank statement requests to those places requesting for the balances and entitlements on behalf of the beneficiaries
What of if the deceased has written a will.
Re: My Dad Pension Is It Worth It by RALPHOW(m): 3:53pm On Jan 17, 2022
If your dad has a WILL, all that is left will be stated, that is the reason we always advice people to have a WILL.
If No, you must get a paper called Letter of Administration (LA) through a lawyer, the letter will give you the right to operate his bank accounts and also access anything left in his pension.
Lawyer charges 10% for LA, I will advise you go and get a lawyer through the state registry, otherwise those court guys may frustrate your lawyer.
Good luck

You need to close your mouth firmly and continue choping his pension bank alert, till pension office ask for physical verification exercise

Don't alert his bank or employers or the pension stops

If you want to cash out simply use USSD code on his line for transfer or recharge card which you later sell
Funny you grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

If it was gratuity, you'd have been entitled to collect it, but I think his pension dies with him, there's nothing for you to fight for. I could be wrong tho
My wife father's pension continued to be paid for more than 2 years. It only stopped when they got the probate documents and went to his bank to access the funds. The bank said that account had to be closed and a new one opened in their name. Na so that account closed.
I heard conspiracy theories that cabals in banks will keep the account opened and continue receiving the money long after.

I lost my dad about 8 months ago. He retired from service 2014 and has been paid his gratuity, and was receiving his pension before his death.
What entitlements is he due now after death for the next of kin to pursue, and what process would you advise to achieve it?
Nothing else. He had been settled. There's nothing else to collect. The only thing you may need is to collect money in his bank account. But that one na serious journey oo. You will pay enough money and had to make many visitations to probate court and bank.

Wrong information, since the father has retired, and monthly pension already being paid to him, the money is no longer in his RSA account, it has either been moved to annuity or programme withdrawal.

Again, the fund is either in annuity or program withdrawal.
At the inception of the policy into program withdrawal or annuity, the man would have filled out who his beneficiary would be. And in that sense, that becomes a "will". The beneficiary does not need any letter of Administration from court or anywhere else to access the fund.
Some documents are obviously going to requested by the annuity company or PFA however, not LOA.

Where I think you've mistaken the information is that there is a different between someone who is yet to retire or access his RSA but died and someone who has already accessed his RSA and on monthly pension before dying.
My friend father hasn't yet retired before his demise
How many years it will takes to be paid

Are you sure about this? Hope it's not a crime if the PFA or bank eventually find out?

He/the next of kin/estate/or the family members with the LOA will take all on behalf of the family.

First, your dad's friend died in service or before retirement meaning his fund is still in his RSA and hasn't been moved to ether annuity or programmed withdrawal.

Secondly: you friend needs to know the pension company his father has his RSA with that is the pension company that manages your friend's father's Retirement Savings Account (RSA).

The money in his account would be accruing interest monthly.

So in order to access the fund, your friend or his family would have to approach the pension company his dad was with, to get the necessary requirement information to access the fund. Mostly, They would be asked to first get a Letter of Administration (LOA).

But it'd best to approach the pension company for this information as in some cases, his late dad might have submitted a "will" to the pension company. In this case, no need for LOA

I hope this is of help

You seem knowledgeable and vast in this, how can I help my dad get his pension and gratuity?

He didn’t get it since 1997
Hmmmm 1996 or 7 was when my dad equally retired... these set of civil servant retirees are under the old model of pension fund management which was handled strictly by government. It was a tug of war before my dad got his, almost 5years after retirement with alot of bribing people in Abuja to help ensure they process what is rightfully his.
Alot of capturing and recapturing was done to validate their service to the country and if they truly retired or employed in the first instance.

Now it's a new method of pension fund management where private companies act as administrators and manage the funds on behave of the workers and employers. This model is more efficient and data are well stored, pulled and used.

To your dad case, I had to explain the above so you can pick one or two things to help set some level of clarification. Your dad's case is most likely with the government. It's either, they had issues with your dad's information that's why he wasn't paid because virtually all those in your father's set has been paid.

My advise, your dad needs to go back to his place of work and start from there, let him get the information of those incharge of processing government pension and if they've been desolved, get those that took over because my dad still receives his monthly pension so obviously someone somewhere in government still handles it.

Lastly, you dad had issue with data and capturing.

I don’t want to believe Hos colleague was paid, if they do then they aren’t his colleagues let alone friends.

This is what you do, order Uber to take you and your dad to the bank while he is still alive.
Let him find one of his son's with whom he is well pleased.
Request for an added signatory to the account on behalf of your dad reason been that your dad is old and can't be running Helter skelter again.
Once it has been approved, you equally have right to withdraw even in cash from the bank and change other details from his account.

Mind you, this was what I did to my dad's pension account before his demise.
Now on a steady, I control the account to receive funds for my mum.
