Sit At Home Order : Impact On The Lives Of The Ordinary South Easterner. by Texidriver113(op): 10:01pm On Jan 18, 2022
The general lifestyle of the ordinary citizen domiciled in SE Nigeria seems to have perhaps been placed on hold following the incessant sit at home orders being executed by IPOB. Martin, a texi driver in Nsukka who is responsible for taking care of his family of 5 daily is at loss on how to pay his 6months overdue rent, pay his children's school fees and provide necessary home essentials. The 4days sit at home will cost him nothing less than N31,000, money he could have applied to helping himself by himself. Mr Martin is not alone in his woos; so are all the many shop owners in all the major market under locks and keys. Suffice to note that business activities are on a standstill and so is everyone who rely on their daily sweat to make a living. Long grammar short – the South East is on purse. For how long? is another story entirely.

This condition against all odds may have been bearable had it not come with a wave of fear that has remanded the general public in affected states in their homes. Everyone is scared to leave their houses for the avoidance of stories that touch especially with remorse of burnings and bombing of cars up and down (i added the bombings for effect). A new keke was burnt to ashes somewhere in Aba around Ama Ogbonaya junction today. Same thing happened at another popular junction in Ekwulobia. Previous Monday it was in Enugu, and I also heard Onitcha is not left out. I heard to rush back home after I took a drive round Nsukka today; I’m not sure but I think some guy I saw on red looked at me in a funny way, and I didn’t want to have to explain how I went out when every other person remained indoors. No be me go dey outside. Nah, we are not outside. cry

I spoke with some of my friends and acquittances in other parts of the country, and they were all surprised. It was strange to them.

I wanna know though, just some questions that have been bogging me. I am from the East, so naturally my sentiments is with IPOB ( of course, i'm not disputing their rightful agitation for self-governance. Their current modus operandi is what begs the question for me ); I am just wondering if there are other ways they could push for their rights without involving the ordinary man (perhaps, I’m being selfish here or not).

I mean I’ve seen the 14-count charge levelled against Mazi NK by the Federal Government of Nigeria. I mean they gat him good on the noose, and the trail doesn’t seem to going away soon. Of course, lets not forgot the statement this January that has been credited to the Presidency assuring the gen pop that Mazi wasn’t going anywhere in a hurry and should answer for his crimes in court. Let’s not go into the body language of the President. I ask again which way forward?

Let’s not also forget those unscrupulous elements who have hijacked this sit at home and use the opportunity to perpetrate despicable and untold suffering on their follow citizen.

Well, maybe someone can point me in the right direction. I may not be seeing the bigger picture here.

**** I heard today's hearing was adjourned as expected, and top on the list of discussion is why the Feds have insisted that Mazi must continue to model for the Italian Luxury fashion house Fendi. huh
