You missed. That was the pinnacle of Nigeria football. I was a small boy by then but I always wondered why my dad or relatives would gather to watch "green and white eagles" play. After seeing 94, I saw 96, I wondered again , who are these people on green and white.. they lifted the cup(Olympics gold). I still saw these set of guys play in the qualifying series for the world cup in France. My goodness, they were the green and white eagles. At this point,I don grow and the performance they played all through the qualifiers was astonishing. We went to France 98, our opening game , we beat mighty Spain.. then I knew super eagles was a team to reckon in this worldcup. GODBLESS the 94 set and may God bless this present eagles that are playing today... we hope for victory.

The present team comprises of players in first team of clubs like sanusi Porto, chukwuezeVillarreal, iheanacho and ndidi Leicester,iwobi Everton,Awoniyi union Berlin,Aribo rangers,Moses nantes, Aina Torino,GK Okoye and Ekong Watford , Omeruo Leganes etc....most of these players are starters for their clubs unlike before when we filled supereagles with bench warmers..

We also have U-17 worldcup champions and MVPs in the team..nwakali, iheanacho,Awoniyi

Quality first eleven and bench....this team might write their own history, fingers crossed..

Super Eagles 94 was legendary.

Till today people in Korea,Brazil,Italy can name the whole squad.

With the way the boys are playing, I can now say that I am proud to be a Nigerian.

That was the best and most exciting Eagles team ever.

This team is just starting out and it is too early to compare.... but the DNA of the great Nigerian soccer teams is there, something that has been tied down all these years under Rohr.

The easiest comparison of this team is to the one Keshi led to the AFCON Cup 2013.
Why we are so excited and why some have gone overboard in their comparisons and assessment of the team's chances in this tournament is that we have been served an 'anti Nigerian style' for so long, so many years that we are famished for good old Nigerian soccer.

We should get our heads out of cloud 9 and face the reality that we were far behind the rest of Africa and need time to get back to lead once again.
