Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro is losing patience with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over their delay in confirming him as coach of the senior national team of Nigeria.

He was announced as the new coach of the Nigerian team on a short term deal which begins after the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations with an immediate target of qualifying the Nigerian team for the World Cup 2022 via the play off.



The arrangement was for him to monitor the team at the AFCON where Nigeria crashed out at the round of 16 stage after losing to Tunisia, but he wasn’t at the tournament owing to the fact that he didn’t sign the dotted lines as coach.

All attempts by his representative to get the NFF to formally sign the contract papers has so far no yielded any success with reports circling that interim coach Austine Eguavoen might continue as coach until at least after the World Cup playoff.

” We don’t know what’s going on at the moment and Peseiro could walk away if this persist. The NFF don’t seem to be keen anymore. All attempts to sign the contract isn’t working at the moment. March isn’t far off and as we speak now nothing has been said”, a representative of the coach told OwnGoalNigeria.com.

I blame NFF led by Amaju Pinnick who thinks the saviour is always a foreign coach.

Austin may have had a somewhat dismal outing at the nations cup, but he still commands my respect.
If Austin is motivated and given the free hands to select his squad without interference, he will go far.

The fluidity of the wingers which has been Nigeria's signature style of play was reinvigorated by Austin. For a very long time, I saw the Eagles playing a free flowing attacking football.


I still stand with Amotolongbo's opinion that the coach is not even a world class coach. Let him go.

To come to think of it Eguaveon only had 12 days with the team..... And still played better than Rohr 5 years

The Tunisia game he tried changing pattern from the wings to the middle with direct game but.... The red game spoiled everything

I still think we can improve on this... Giving time and better strikers we didn't have like Osimhen etc

NFF better get things sorted out fast. We don't want any distractions for the forthcoming WC playoffs.

It's too early for all this drama now. If they want to give him let them go ahead, after all they went after him not otherwise. Nigeria at this point needs quality Coach,not anyone whose CV is close to rubbish. The ball is in corrupt Nff court.
