There are some cabals who are benefitting from this scam call subsidy. They want it refine abroad and imported back into the country so that they will inflate the import duty and other illegal charges to make excess profit.
Besides, who are the marketers receiving subsidy payment? Are they being monitored in other to make sure that they are delivering the products?I still believe Buhari is lying about subsidy because he said it with his mouth that it is a scam. Nigerians need to wake up

Under the last administration, oil sold for over $100 yet petrol was mostly below N100 a liter. Are they telling us that the last administration spend all our money on subsidy?

1. Because of high oil revenue, the value of the naira was higher. That's why fuel sold fr below 100 naira

2. Even then we were.spending money on subsides

In 2012, landing cost was 99, pump price fuel was 65 naira.

In 2015,landing cost was 132, fuel was 87 naira at pump

We were spending lots of money to.cover the difference between the landing cost and the fuel prices at pump.

And it all added up to.billions..comming from crude oil revenues.

That's why GEJ wanted subsidy gone. It was impacting heavily on goverment revenues

So if someone refines fuel in Nigeria and sells it to the marketer at 250 naira per liter and the marketer sells it to you at 280 per liter, would you accept it?

You would insist on buying fuel at 162 naira per liter, meanning both marketer and refiner cannot make a profit

That's why we refine fuel abroad.

Yes, and the countries we import from like Thailand and Brazil have something we don't have, massive wetlands

Nigeria? To create a wetland we have to build a dam and create it artificially, and at the end of the day, it needs more resources to maintain it .Our natirial wetlands on a good day aren't even up to half of what Thailand and Brazil got
the Nigerdelta is the biggest wet land in Africa.

Yeah, but compared to what Brazil and Thailand have, it's very small

Plus with all the pollution there from crude, no one wants to plant rice there really.

You make a fair point. But that only shows the government has spent the last 10 years deceiving us about rice production.
Imagine if the billions spent on rice was spent on something more realistic like iron ore exploration or even cassava product. By now we would have increased our foreign exchange and grown the economy.

subsidy price should even rise to 200 billion naira per day we dont fuc*king care the government should pay up because that's the only thing the average Nigerian is benefiting from the government. Even if the subsidy is removed today, they will still embezzle and loot the money, useless country and useless govt. My advice to every Nigerian out there, please if you have the opportunity or means to travel abroad, please do because Nigeria is a hell hole, and the only thing it does is to kill your dream while you are still alive

Crude oil that is a blessing to other nations is a big curse to Nigeria.

Rising oil prices that should translate to more revenue is technically another problem for us.

How did I end up in this hole?

They always skip the rising revenue part.

The petrol refined in the illegal refineries are not refined to standard meaning they could be dangerous to your car and the environment

Goverment legalising them would be a disaster unless they are ready to make the improvements needed to protect the environment and to refine fuel that won't mess with your engine.

Subsidy cost is going up because the cost of producing a liter of fuel is going up due to rising crude oil prices.
They should be assisted by the government by way of bringing expert to train them and regulate their activities.
Even shell and agip that are operating legally have their own government support that is why they grow to become experts.Nigerian government should stop bringing it own people down.If some politicians are not enriching themselves from this fuel importation they would have stop it long ago.Mosttimes, fuel is not imported or delivered but some dubious marketers will still collect subsidy payments for fuel importation because there is no proper checks and balances.
If they want to stop subsidy payment they should build local refineries or give the illegal refinery operators licences to make them operate legally before fuel subsidy can be removed completely.

Federal Government spent $2.41 billion on rice importation between January 2012 and May 2015. Now imagine how much has been spent from 2016 to 2022.
This amount would have buit a refinery. By now,we wouldn't be spending N16 billion a day to import fuel.

This subsidy thing is a mess. When you rejoice with one part of your heart because of rising crude oil price you have to cry with the other part of your heart knowing that rising crude oil price won't improve the lives of Nigerians because of higher cost of importing finished products. How come we have brains in this country and we know our problems but yet we can't solve them, like one nairalander would say, no be juju be that?

When oil fall, they will complain, when it rise, they will cry.

When oil price crashed last year, they increased VATs and borrowed billions from China claiming low oil Revenue. Now that the price is up , they are shouting Subsidy.

We and consuming less PMS than what these theives claimed to be paying Subsidy for.

Nigerian politicians and bureaucrats in power play are surely smiling their ways to the banks, local and international because of so called fuel subsidy.

Please tell me one other country in the world where this language fuel subsidy is in use for daily business?

Small time Nigerian police will be looking for yahoo boys when their fathers are entrenched in subsidy plus plus.

Nigerians I dey hail Ooooh.

Federal Government should look to harness the Gas resource been flared to cushion the effect of the subsidy.. You can't be burning money away and be crying you can't pay for subsidy...better still do a crude oil swap, since OPEC is all about export it does not affect your export revenues.

The local refiners in River State have created more environmental destruction and pollution for Rivers for the next 100 years. The local refiners have no understanding of basic environment protection and Health/Safety Standards.

God bless you. You have good analytic skill. This government is the most fraudulent in history. Their lies and propaganda is second to none. Even if it is 20b a day let them spend it. The truth is those rogue may not even be paying up to 1b a day for fuel subsidy. If one of them could say their buhari has done more infrastructure than the US president, what can they not say again?
