you will be surprised by the number of high profile northerners married to Igbo women. It only politics and religion that cause division in this country. Hardly anyone I know that has been to the eastern part of the country to serve or hold one agency/political post from the north that won’t want to marry south eastern women.

Not actually. Traditionally a woman is buried in her father’s compound. It was Christianity hat changed it.
In those day, not too long ago ozu nnwa ada was “carried” in a mat at night across and handed over to her people. I witnessed a couple of such.
But when Christianity came, they started burying women in their husbands place. However, their husband would still have to return the “Njija” (the little basket used to store food stuff) which is symbolic for the return of the body to her people. This is the tradition.

Some tribes take back their daughter's corpse. The husband will have to convince her people well enough to burry their daughter outside their community or if by chance they can't afford to bring her home cos of the financial implication they may agree to burry her outside.
They typically tell the husband to be as he is about to o marry their daughter. It's a way of linking her children to their maternal side too.
She rests with her ancestors same way men like to rest with their ancestors.

Where I came from, first child middle child or last child, their course returned to their parents house, doesn't matter how long the marriage has been.
