backbencher:The average minimum wage in Nigeria is 31 dollars yet you say NIGERIANs love cheap fuel, if you want to sell the expensive fuel like Europe then maybe we should also increase the minimum wage to match the Europeans |

SarkinYarki:Nigeria is also spending trillions of naira on subsidy and getting into debt as a result Call me when the subsidy we pay renders us unable to pay the same minimum wage you go on about. Subsidy must go. We can't afford it. Has been that way since for decades FYI, Niger , Benin , Cameroon and many other countries pay the same minimum wage we pay and pay higher fr fuel at the pump. And are at our level or poorer. Have their people died? Our refineries were wrecked by subsidy as well. |

If a minister of petroleum is saying this, feigning ignorance of the hi-tech corruption with the(north) NNPC,you are only exposing your level of incompetence to the all world, correct data of fuel consumption supposed to be at your fingertips, you that would have personally engaged consultants to work in the field you are in A/C offices, jeeps running on convoys with police escorts coming out to say what you are saying.I don't blame you it is our Niger Delta mentality |

989900:There is no bigger picture to he seen with the level of corruption and collusion from from govt. The tankers that smuggle petrol can be easily tracked and subdued but because the govt doesnt want to buy from Dangote before subsidizing but allow Dangote sell at market dictated rate(no subsidy), effectively giving him monopoly pending when modular refineries come on stream. |

VeeVeeMyLuv:The discos are broke because they don't have enough money. The thing is ,at best we should be paying 80 naira to 100 naira per kWh. Yet we pay 41 to 71 naira per kWh In 2018 it was above 50 Naira per kWh ,yet we paid 20 to 30 naira per kWh Goverment was supposed to pay a subsidy to.cover the loss, but because oil prices have been very low, the subsidy payment is very intermittent. Then at least 30 to 40 percent of consumers don't pay for power and even when a meter is in place they bypass it. At the end, modt discos are running at a loss, and have been since 2012. They reject power from Gencos because they cannot afford to transmit that power. And because the discos are meant to generate funds for gencos and the goverment run tcn, the loss they make means they have no money to fix things That's the potted summary of the money issues in our power sector |

There just too much fraud in that useless industry and alot of folks in government are aiding it because they all benefit from it. You should know that folks with the capacity carry out such fraud are well rooted in and out of the government, they are known powerful figures. The only reason Dangote succeeded or should allowed the build his refinery is because he's a northerner, well connected in government and has the express backing of the president + unquestionable access to the president. Our problem isn't just subsidy.... Subsidy removal is just the easiest fix to the problem. If it's eventually removed, those men will leech on other areas in the industry /other sectors and be bleeding the nation still. They will always find other ways to hold us to ransome. The real fix is to fish out those people not matter how highly placed, religion or tribe and deal with them wickedly and decisively. Make them scape goats and watch how everything will adjust for the better in this country. But I am afraid democracy can't handle this level of corruption because there are too many bottlenecks that super rich folks will explore to arm twist the government. |

That figure is the bedrock of the subsidy scam Get the daily consumption correct and you are one step closer to unraveling the subsidy scam |

Wakanakarue:Dangote commenced building his refinery in 2014 with loans of 6 billion dollars plus 3 billion dollars of his own money. The 'help' he has gotten from government was 1) help in negotiating the loan that he got from AFREXIM bank, 2) land concessions 3) some extra financing from CBN Apart from Dangote, there are 5 other refineres coming up that can refine PMS (BUA is building a refinery that cannot refine PMS, but can do everything else in Imo) and over 50 licenced refineries, which all haven't started because the banks don't want to lend them money because the subsidy means their refinereis would operate at a loss. Dangote got the loans because the banks know that if the government keeps subsidy, and he cannot pay back as a result of the losses made, they can take over his other lucrative assets and pay themselves back. Has nothing to do with Dangote being a Northerner. Once subsidy goes, many Southerners would join the 2-3 already busy doing refinereis. |

We are not serious with developing this country at all Every year, we release budget that are not being actualized, nobody knows how much spent, how much revenue made Everything is in secrecy, yet all we are bothered about is who succeed the current president Shame on us all if we can stand up and ask real hard questions. |

If I may ask when last has a proper AUDIT been carried out @ NNPC cos if that should happen a lot of happenings and secrecy will be exposed. Let the NNPC be AUDITED 1st then we can carry on from there. |
