Some students of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University formerly Anambra State University, have protested over the alleged destruction of a student’s phone by a lecturer, Siggy reports.

It was gathered that the young man was using his iPhone 11 Pro Max to browse while the lecturer in the department of Philosophy was teaching.

The lecturer is alleged to have seized the expensive phone and smashed it in class.

His action triggered an uproar as students stormed the administrative block in protest. A clip posted on social media shows the angry students expressing displeasure on behalf of their affected colleague.

GossipMill shared a message an eyewitness sent with the caption; ”Lecturer (Philosophy department) smashed a student’s iPhone 11 Pro Max because he was using it to browse…”

Why smash a student's phone because He wasn't paying attention to You in class?

Everybody will not be serious in a class, and as so, not everybody will graduate with good grades, so if a student isn't paying attention You leave am, Your tests and exams will be the judge.

I won't let it slide easily if I were in the position of the student.

They should just take the names of all the students that protested and their mat numbers and suspend them all.

A student paid school fees to be taught, if he chooses not to pay attention in class by paying more attention to his phone, the best you could have done was send him out of your class as the lecturer, smashing his phone is very wrong, so much frustration Inna di Land

We didn't protest because of yahoo boys , we protested because innocent people were/are been/being illegally arrested , extorted , prisoned and KILLED!
If they were after only fraudsters with the energy, effort they put in almost killing half of Nigerians (whether guilty or innocent), scam would have been a thing of the past.

I graduated from that foolish school and I can tell you lecturers have no respect for students.

You're a born fool! School fees in that school is more than #200,000 a session! It's not cheap! I'm a living witness!

You can't force a grown up, matured student to learn. Are you m_ad? Or are you just trying to sound stupid and irritating?

If a student refuses to learn, it's his/her business and not the lecturer's concern. I went to that school, lecturers have no respect for students! They are violent and wicked!

That lecturer must pay for that phone, if a student is not listening u have a choice of giving him a warning or walking him out of your class it’s that simple.

Which area of the school constitution does it state that you have the right to break a students phone?

School is not free in Nigeria u are paying school fees, on top your money u dae pay them go dae do you anyhow, give a Nigerian the smallest amount of power and the very first thing that comes to his mind is how to either intimidate or punish others.

U would come from a good home with love and care no violence no nothing u would go to school to be a better person instead of them to make u a better person they would mould u into a monster.

Secondary school would tell u to kneel down or pick pin under hot sun, or they would tell u to pull your trousers so they can flog u, something that not even your own father has ever done to you, introducing you to violence.

That was how one foolish uniport lecturer called Dr Anyanwu from management faculty some years ago during his exam saw someone writing who made a mistake in the date instead of putting 2022 put 2021 this foolish man instead of calling his attention to it, this man just started punching the student just like that, just like that. And the worst if u decide to fight back u are the bad person, fools would never respect themselves but they demand respect.

Did they hire u as a lecturer to come and be punching student or smashing students phone?

Mumu Students, they could have easily pressed charges of property vandalism, and an injunction to restrain the school from prejudicial treatment while still in school.
